1867 स्वामी विवेकानंद की शिष्या सिस्टर निवेदिता का आयरलैंड में जन्म हुआ।

1871 प्रसिद्ध विधिवेत्ता, शिक्षा प्रेमी, रचनाकार और प्रसिद्ध बांग्ला कवि एवं संगीतकार अतुल प्रसाद सेन का जन्म हुआ।

1886 विख्यात ब्रिटिश आर्कियोलोजिस्ट, लेखक, अध्ययेता ओ. जी. एस. क्राफोर्ड का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1886 न्यूयॉर्क के लिबर्टी आइलैंड पर खड़ी स्टैच्यू ऑफ लिबर्टी का लोकार्पण राष्ट्रपति ग्रोवर क्लीवलैंड ने किया। यह अमेरिका और फ्रांस की दोस्ती का प्रतीक है। यह मूर्ति देखी जाने वाली अवस्था में साबुत नहीं थी बल्कि इसके 350 छोटे-छोटे हिस्से या टुकड़े थे। जुलाई 1884 में फ्रांस में बनकर तैया हुई थी।350 टुकड़े 214 बक्सों में पैक किये गये थे। स्टैच्यू को पेरिस से न्यूयॉर्क पहुंचने में 4 महीने का समय लगा। इस मूर्ति के मुकुट पर 7 किरणें हैं, जो दुनिया के 7 महाद्वीपों और 7 महासागरों का प्रतीक है। 1986 में मरम्मत के दौरान नई मशाल को 24 कैरेट सोने की पतली चादर से घेरा गया। मूर्ति के बाएं हाथ में नोटबुक या टेबलेट है, जिस पर JULY IV MDCCLXXVI लिखा है, जो जुलाई 4, 1776 यानी अमेरिका की आजादी की तिथि दर्शाता है। यूनेस्को ने इसे 1984 में ग्लोबल हेरिटेज साइट घोषित किया था। 1492 में कोलंबस द्वारा अमेरिका खोजने के बाद वहां स्पेन, इटली, फ्रांस, ब्रिटेन आदि देशों द्वारा खूब लूट मचाई गई, मूल निवासियों की हत्याएं की गईं, यातनाएं दी गईं और गुलाम बनाकर मुनाफा कमाया गया। लंबे समय तक अमेरिका पर अलग-अलग हिस्सों में तमाम देशों का कब्जा रहा। कई सौ साल अमेरिकियों ने आजादी के लिए लड़ाई लड़ी। 1776 में अमेरिका विदेशी गुलामी से आजाद हुआ।

1891 जापान में आए जबरदस्त भूकंप से 7300 लोगों की मौत हुई।

1892 मोहन दास कर्मचंद गांधी और कस्तूरबा गांधी के दूसरे बेटे जो जाने माने सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता बने, मणीलाल गांधी का जन्म राजकोट, गुजरात में हुआ।

1900 जर्मनी के विख्यात संस्कृतवेत्ता, प्राच्य विद्या विशारद, लेखक एवं भाषाशास्त्री मैक्स मूलर का निधन हुआ।

1913 जैन श्वेतांबर तेरापंथी सभा की स्थापना हुई।

1914 पोलियो की पहली सुरक्षित वैक्सीन बनाने वाले अमेरिकी फिजीशियन और मेडिकल रिसर्चर जोनास साल्क का जन्म हुआ।

1918 ऑस्ट्रिया और हंगरी के अलग होने के बाद चेकोस्लोवाकिया स्वतंत्र हुआ।

1922 इटली में रोम मार्च के जरिए फासिस्ट शक्तियों ने सत्ता पर अधिकार किया और बेनीतो मुसोलनी प्रधानमंत्री बना।

2001 जर्मन के चांसलर गेरहार्ड श्रोएडर भारत की यात्रा पर आये। इसी दिन इस्लामिक आतंकवादियों ने पूर्वी पाकिस्तान में एक चर्च पर हमला किया, जिसमें प्रार्थना के दौरान 18 लोग मारे गए, जिनमें बच्चे भी शामिल थे।

2004 चीन की राजधानी बीजिंग के एक इलाके में 4000 वर्ष पुराने मकबरों का पता चला।

2005 चेकोस्लोवाकिया ने अपनी स्वतंत्रता की घोषणा की। चैक और स्लोवाक अलग-अलग देश बन गये।

2009 पाकिस्तान के पेशावर में बम धमाके से 117 मरे, 213 घायल हुए।

2011 प्रख्यात हिंदी व्यंग्य लेखक, कथाकार श्रीलाल शुक्ल का देहावसान हुआ।

2012 सीरिया में संघर्ष विराम का उल्लंघन में 128 लोग मारे गये। इसी दिन जर्मनी के सेबेस्टियन वेटेल ने वर्ष 2012 का फार्मूला वन इंडियन ग्रां प्री खिताब जीता।

2013 विख्यात हिंदी लेखक, उपन्यासकार और तमाम विमर्श खड़े करने वाले साहित्यिक पत्रिका हंस के संपादक राजेंद्र यादव का देहांत हुआ।

2017 स्पेन में कैटालोनिया की संसद ने स्वतंत्र क्षेत्र घोषित करने के पक्ष में वोटिंग की।

2018 जायर बोल्सोनारो 57 मिलियन वोटों बढ़त लेकर ब्राजील के राष्ट्रपति चुने गए। वर्कर्स पार्टी के उम्मीदवार फर्नांडो हद्दाद दूसरे नंबर पर रहे। 16 वर्षों में यह पहली बार है कि वर्कर्स पार्टी का कोई उम्मीदवार राष्ट्रपति नहीं चुना गया। इसी दिन 2018 में प्रसिद्ध ऑस्ट्रेलियाई नियम फुटबॉलर कॉलिन सिल्विया का निधन हुआ।

2022 प्रसिद्ध अमेरिकी गायक-गीतकार और पियानोवादक जेरी ली लुईस का निधन हुआ।

1492 Christopher Columbus discovered the east coast of Cuba, after which Spanish forces arrived in the region.

1627 Mughal ruler Salim i.e. Jahangir, son of Mughal emperor Akbar, died.

1726 Gulliver's Travels, written by Jonathan Swift and published by Benjamin Mote, was published in London, becoming popular throughout the world.

1791 The Declaration of Women's Rights was published in France.

1851 British Indian Association was established in Bengal.

1863 International Red Cross Committee was formed under a conference in Geneva.

1867 Sister Nivedita, a disciple of Swami Vivekananda, was born in Ireland.

1871 Famous jurist, education lover, creator and famous Bengali poet and musician Atul Prasad Sen was born.

1886 Noted British archaeologist, writer, scholar O. Yes. S. Crawford was born in Bombay.

1886 The Statue of Liberty standing on Liberty Island in New York was inaugurated by President Grover Cleveland. It is a symbol of friendship between America and France. This statue was not whole in the visible state but had 350 small parts or pieces. It was completed in France in July 1884. 350 pieces were packed in 214 boxes. It took 4 months for the statue to reach New York from Paris. There are 7 rays on the crown of this statue, which symbolize the 7 continents and 7 oceans of the world. During restoration in 1986, the new torch was surrounded with a thin sheet of 24 carat gold. In the left hand of the statue is a notebook or tablet, on which is written JULY IV MDCCLXXVI which shows July 4, 1776 i.e. the date of America's independence. UNESCO declared it a Global Heritage Site in 1984. After Columbus discovered America in 1492, there was a lot of looting by countries like Spain, Italy, France, Britain etc. Native people were killed, tortured and profit was made by enslaving them. For a long time, America was occupied by many countries in different parts. For several hundred years Americans fought for independence. In 1776, America became independent from foreign slavery.

1891 A massive earthquake in Japan killed 7,300 people.

1892 Manilal Gandhi, the second son of Mohan Das Karamchand Gandhi and Kasturba Gandhi, who became a well-known social activist, was born in Rajkot, Gujarat.

1900 Germany's famous Sanskrit scholar, orientalist, writer and philologist Max Muller passed away.

1913 Jain Shwetambar Terapanthi Sabha was established.

1914 Jonas Salk, the American physician and medical researcher who created the first safe polio vaccine, was born.

1918 Czechoslovakia becomes independent after the separation of Austria and Hungary.

1922 Fascist forces took power in Italy through the March on Rome and Benito Mussolini became Prime Minister.

1929 The American stock market Wall Street collapsed. The market fell by 24 percent. This is called the biggest economic collapse in American history.

1955 Gates, who wrote the first software program at the age of just 13, was born in Seattle, America on October 28, 1955. While in high school, Bill helped a group of programmers building school payroll systems and created Traffic-O-Data, which sold traffic-counting systems to local governments.

1963: Prime Minister Narendra Modi's choice, Urjit Patel, who was made the Governor of the Reserve Bank during demonetization, was born in Nairobi, the capital of Kenya.

1967 World famous American film actress and model Julia Roberts was born. Bold and beautiful, Julia became Hollywood's highest paid actress in the 1990s.

1971 Great Britain launches its first Earth satellite, Prospero.

1978 Vivaan Bhatena, a well-known television and film actor and model, was born in Amritsar.

1983 Kaneez Surka, a South African stand-up comedian, improv artist, actress and YouTuber working in India, was born in Mthatha, South Africa.

1986 Aditi Rao Hydari, a well-known actress and model of films in many languages including Hindi, Tamil and Malayalam, was born in Hyderabad.

1987: Famous Hindi and Tamil film actress and model Riya Bamaniyal was born.

1989 Well-known Kannada film actress, film producer and model Sharmila Mandre was born in Bangalore.

1995 The world's deadliest metro rail accident occurs in Baku, Azerbaijan, where an electrical fault causes a fire, killing 289 passengers and injuring 265.

1998 The 67th General Assembly of the International Police Organization (INTERPOL) ended with a new strategy to deal with sophisticated technological terrorism and other modern organized crimes.
