1960 भारतीय महिला अर्थशास्त्री और मुख्य वित्त अधिकारी और प्रबंध निदेशक विश्व बैंक अंशुला कांत का जन्म रुड़की में हुआ।

1963 अशोक चक्र विजेता विमान परिचारिका नीरजा भनोट का जन्म 1963 को हुआ। अपहृत भारतीय विमान में मुसाफिरों को बचाने की खातिर 1986 में 5 सितंबर को अपनी गंवाने वाली नीरजा भनोट की कराची, पाकिस्तान में मौत हो गई थी।

1965 चीन ने घोषणा की कि वह भारतीय सीमा पर तैनात अपने सैनिकों को सुदृढ़ करेगा। भारतीय सीमा पर 1965 में चीन द्वारा सेना की तैनाती की घोषणा।

1977 इथोपिया ने सोमालिया के साथ राजनयिक संबंध तोड़े। इसी दिन प्रमुख कांग्रेस नेता राजेश पायलट के बेटे सचिन पायलट का जन्म सहारनपुर में हुआ। सचिन अभी राजस्थान विधान सभा में विधायक हैं। इससे पहले वे उप मुख्यमंत्री थे और केंद्र में मंत्री रह चुके हैं।

2009 सूखे से उत्पन्न स्थिति पर नियंत्रण के लिए भारत के केंद्रीय वित्त मंत्रालय ने गैर योजना खर्च में 10 प्रतिशत की कटौती के आदेश दिये। भारत के पंकज आडवाणी ने 2009 में इसी दिन विश्व पेशेवर बिलियडर्स का खिताब जीता। 55वें राष्ट्रीय फिल्म पुरस्कार 2007 का सर्वश्रेष्ठ फिल्म का खिताब निर्देशक प्रियदर्शन की फिल्म कोजीवरम को मिला।

2011 रूसी विमान याकोवलेव याक-42 के उड़ान भरने के तुरत बाद दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हो जाने से 22 हॉकी खिलाड़ियों की पूरी टीम सहित 44 लोगों की मौत हो गई। इसी दिन दिल्ली उच्च न्यायालय परिसर के द्वार संख्या-5 के पास सूटकेस में रखे गए बम के विस्फोट में 11 लोगों की मौत हो गई और 74 लोग घायल हो गए। इसी दिन क्वेटा (पाकिस्तान) के सिविल लाइंस क्षेत्र में कमिश्नर कार्यालय के पास विस्फोटक भरी कार से हुए दो आत्मघाती धमाकों में एक एफसी अधिकारी समेत 21 लोग मारे गए और 40 से अधिक लोग जख्मी हो गए।

2012 दक्षिण-पश्चिम चीन में आए भूकंप से 64 लोग मारे गए और 715 घायल हो गये।

2019 भारत का चंद्रयान-2 अभियान असफल हुआ, लैंडर विक्रम का चांद पर उतरने से ठीक पहले पृथ्वी के नियंत्रण केन्द्र से संपर्क टूटा। इसी दिन यूक्रेन और रूस के बीच कैदियों की अदला-बदली में यूक्रेनी फिल्म निर्माता ओलेग सेंटसोव और 66 अन्य को रूस ने रिहा कर दिया।
