1066 नौरमैंडी के ड्यूक विलियम ने अपनी सेना को इंग्लैंड के दक्षिण पूर्वी तट की ओर उस अभियान के लिए रवाना किया, जिसे बाद में नोरमन फतह या बैटल आॅफ हैस्टिंग्स के नाम से जाना जाता है।

1331 पोलॉव्स की लड़ाई पोलैंड साम्राज्य और ट्यूटनिक ऑर्डर के बीच लड़ी गई।

1833 सती परंपरा जैसी बेहद बर्बर हिंदू कुरीति का खात्मा कराने वाले विख्यात समाज सुधारक राजा राममोहन राय का निधन हुआ।

1848 उड़िया भाषा और साहित्य के प्रमुख कवि राधानाथ राय का जन्म हुआ।

1854 न्यूयॉर्क की कोलिंस लाइन के स्वामित्व वाला पैडल स्टीमर एसएस आर्कटिक, एक छोटे जहाज, एसएस वेस्टा के साथ टक्कर के बाद, न्यूफाउंडलैंड के तट पर डूब गया। नाव पर सवार 300 से अधिक लोगों में से केवल 88 ही जीवित बचे। वेस्टा में रहने वाले लगभग एक दर्जन लोग तब मारे गए जब उनकी जीवनरक्षक नौका आर्कटिक की चपेट में आ गई।

1871 सरदार बल्लभ भाई पटेल के बड़े भाई एवं प्रसिद्ध स्वतंत्रता सेनानी विट्ठलभाई पटेल का जन्म हुआ।

1905 महान वैज्ञानिक अल्बर्ट आंइस्टीन ने अपना बहुप्रसिद्ध E=mc² का यानी सापेक्षता का सिद्धांत पेश किया।

1907 अविभाजित पंजाब के लायलपुर में (अब पाकिस्तान में) सरदार किशन सिंह संधू एवं विद्यावती के बेटे भगत सिंह का जन्म हुआ। इनके जन्म की तारीख को लेकर विवाद है। अधिकांश जगह भगत सिंह की जन्म तिथि 28 सितंबर दर्ज है। भगत सिंह बहुत छोटी उम्र से ही आजादी की लड़ाई में शामिल हो गए और उनके विचारों, कार्रवाइयों और लोकप्रियता से भयभीत ब्रिटिश हुक्मरान ने 23 मार्च 1931 को 23 बरस के भगत को लाहौर सेंट्रल जेल में फांसी पर लटका दिया।

1908 दिग्गज कार निर्माता हेनरी फोर्ड की कंपनी फोर्ड ने अपने बहुचर्चित टी मॉडल की पहली कार बनाई थी। फोर्ड ने इससे पहले बी, डी, एफ, जे एन, टीएस मॉडल लॉन्च की थी। इस कार को अमेरिका के मिशीगन के पिकेट अवेन्यू प्लांट में बनाया गया था। फोर्ड ने उत्पादन में लगने वाले समय को भी कम किया। पहले जहां एक कार को बनाने में 12 घंटे का समय लगता था, फिर 1913 में डेढ़ घंटे में ही एक कार बनकर तैयार होने लगी। 19 साल तक लगातार कंपनी ने इसका उत्पादन किया। मई 1927 तक 1.5 करोड़ मॉडल टी कारें सड़कों पर दौड़ रही थीं। 1 अक्टूबर 1908 को ये कार शोरूम में बिकना शुरू हुई। 20 हॉर्सपॉवर के 4 सिलेंडर इंजन वाली इस कार की शुरुआती कीमत 850 डॉलर थी। फोर्ड कार का ये मॉडल इतना बिका कि कंपनी को इसका प्रोडक्शन ज्यादा क्षमता वाली हाईलैंड की एक दूसरी फैक्ट्री में ट्रांसफर करना पड़ा।

1918 ब्रिटिश सेना ने पहले विश्व युद्ध के दौरान वेस्टर्न फ्रंट पर अंतिम आक्रमण के तहत हिंडनबर्ग लाइन पर हमला किया।

1919 प्रसिद्ध ब्रिटिश गणितज्ञ और कंप्यूटर वैज्ञानिक जेम्स हार्डी विल्किंसन का जन्म स्टरूड, इंग्लैंड में हुआ।

1927 कर्नाटक संगीत के 20वीं सदी के प्रमुख संगीतज्ञ जी देवराजन यानी पारावूर गोविंदन देवराजन का जन्म हुआ।

1953 महिला धर्म गुरु माता अमृतानंदमयी का जन्म हुआ।

1956 प्रसिद्ध गीतकार, आशुकवि राजेश राज का निधन हुआ।

1959 भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस के प्रसिद्ध राजनेता, महाराष्ट्र से भारतीय संसद के सदस्य और केंद्र में सामाजिक न्याय और अधिकारिता मंत्री रहे मुकुल वासनिक का जन्म दिल्ली में हुआ।

1961 सिएरा लियोन संयुक्त राष्ट्र का सौवां सदस्य बना।

1968 मध्य प्रदेश के सुप्रसिद्ध सामाजिक और राजनीतिक कार्यकर्ता बृजलाल वियाणी का देहांत हुआ। इसी दिन दिल्ली के साकेत में राहुल देव का जन्म हुआ। राहुल हिंदी सहित विविध भारतीय भाषाओं के अभिनेता और पुरुष माॅडल हैं।

1970 जोर्डन के शाह और फलस्तीन मुक्ति संगठन के नेता यासिर अराफात के बीच काहिरा में एक सम्मेलन के दौरान संघर्षविराम पर सहमति बनी।

2000 वेनेजुएला की राजधानी काराकस में ओपेक देशों का शिखर सम्मेलन शुरू हुआ।

2001 आंध्र प्रदेश के प्रमुख राजनेता और 9वें मुख्यमंत्री हुए कोटला विजय भास्कर रेड्डी का निधन हुआ।

2002 न्यूयार्क में विश्व बैंक व आइएमएफ की महत्वपूर्ण वार्षिक बैठक शुरू हुई।

2007 पाकिस्तान के राष्ट्रपति जनरल मोहम्मद परवेज मुशर्रफ ने राष्ट्रपति चुनाव के लिए नामांकन किया।

2008 चीन के अंतरिक्ष यात्री झाई झीगांग ने पहली बार अंतरिक्ष में चहलकदमी की। 2008 में इसी दिन हिंदी फिल्मों के सुप्रसिद्ध पार्श्वगायक महेंद्र कपूर का निधन हुआ।

2017 सैक्स, कामुकता विषयक विश्व प्रसिद्ध और विश्व भर में प्रसारित पत्रिका प्लेबॉय के संस्थापक, संपादक और प्रकाशक अमीर कारोबारी ह्यू मार्स्टन हेफनर का निधन प्लेबॉय मेंशन में हुआ। हेफनर ने प्लेबॉय ब्रांड को प्लेबॉय क्लबों के विश्व नेटवर्क में विस्तारित किया।

2018 सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने एडल्टरी व्यभिचार को अपराध बताने वाले कानून को रद्द कर दिया। उस समय के चीफ जस्टिस दीपक मिश्रा की अध्यक्षता वाली पांच जजों की पीठ ने आईपीसी के सेक्शन 497 को अवैध करार दिया। जस्टिस मिश्रा ने कहा कि हमारे लोकतंत्र की खूबी ही मैं, तुम और हम की है। एडल्टरी चीन, जापान, ऑस्ट्रेलिया जैसे देशों में अपराध नहीं है। यह शादियों में परेशानी का नतीजा हो सकता है उसका कारण नहीं। इसे अपराध कहना गलत होगा। फैसले में यह भी कहा गया कि पति अपनी पत्नी का मालिक नहीं हो सकता। 497 धारा खत्म होने के बाद विवाहित महिला का अन्य पुरुष से शारीरिक संबंध बनाना यानी सैक्स करना अपराध नहीं माना जाएगा।

2018 गुजरात के राजकोट घराने के ठाकुर और राजनीतिज्ञ मनोहरसिंहजी प्रद्युम्नसिंहजी जाड़ेजा का निधन राजकोट स्थित शाही महल में हुआ। इसी दिन मार्टिन जेरेल बुचवाल्ड, जिन्हें मार्टी बालिन के नाम से जाना जाता है, विख्यात अमेरिकी गायक, गीतकार और संगीतकार, जेफरसन एयरप्लेन और जेफरसन स्टारशिप के संस्थापक/नेता का तंपा, फ्लोरिडा में निधन हुआ।

2020 संसद में तिकड़म कर मोदी सरकार द्वारा पास कराए गये विवादित कृषि कानूनों को राष्ट्रपति राम नाथ कोविंद ने मंजूरी दी। इन कानूनों के खात्मे की मांग को लेकर संयुक्त किसान मोर्चा ने नवंबर 2020 से आंदोलन शुरु किया। इससे पहले ही अलग-अलग क्षेत्रों में किसान आंदोलन प्रारंभ कर चुके थे। 27 सितंबर 2021 को इस मसले पर भारत बंद का आयोजन हुआ। इस आंदोलन में करीब 700 लोगों की मौत हो गई। इस आंदोलन को बदनाम करने और आंदोलनकारियों को परेशान करने में सरकार ने बहुत ताकत और पैसा खर्च किया। लेकिन दिसंबर 2021 में नरेंद्र मोदी को विवादित कृषि कानूनों को वापस लेने की घोषणा करनी पड़ी। इसी दिन 2020 में भारतीय जनता पार्टी के वरिष्ठ राजनेता जसवंत सिंह का निधन हुआ।

2021 संयुक्त किसान मोर्चा द्वारा आयोजित भारत बंद सफल रहा। इसमें तमाम किसान संगठन और जनसंगठन शामिल रहे। बंद की सफलता पर किसान नेता जगजीत सिंह डल्लेवाल ने कहा कि मोदी सरकार द्वारा लागू की जा रही भाजपा-आरएसएस की नीतियों, बुनियादी स्वतंत्रता और लोकतंत्र पर अंकुश लगाने और अधिकांश नागरिकों के जीवनयापन को खतरे में डालने से पूरे देश में गुस्सा और हताशा ह। उन्होंने कहा कि भारत बंद को आम आदमी का समर्थन मिलने से स्पष्ट हो गया है कि देश के लोग किसानों की जायज मांगों और जनविरोधी नीतियों के विरोध में मोदी सरकार से त्रस्त हो चुके हैं। एसकेएम नेता जोगिंदर सिंह उगराहां ने कहा कि इस बंद को पहले की तुलना में अधिक व्यापक जनसमर्थन मिला है। लगभग सभी विपक्षी राजनीतिक दलों ने बंद को बिना शर्त समर्थन दिया और साथ भी निभाया। श्रम संगठन एक बार फिर किसानों और श्रमिकों की एकता का प्रदर्शन करते हुए किसानों के साथ थीं।
