9 ईस्वी टुटोबर्ग वन युद्ध समाप्त हुआ। इस ऐतिहासिक युद्ध को रोमन इतिहासकारों ने वेरियन डिजास्टर (लैटिन में, क्लेड्स वेरियाना) के रूप में वर्णित किया गया है, जो जर्मनिक जनजातियों और रोमन साम्राज्य के बीच एक बड़ी लड़ाई थी। यह 8 से 11 सितंबर, 9 ईस्वी के बीच आधुनिक कलक्रीज में हुई थी। जर्मनिक लोगों के गठबंधन ने पब्लियस क्विनक्टिलियस वरस के नेतृत्व में रोमन सेनाओं और उनके सहायकों पर घात लगाकर हमला किया। गठबंधन का नेतृत्व वरुस के ऑक्सिलिया के एक जर्मनिक अधिकारी आर्मिनियस ने किया था। इससे पूर्व आर्मिनियस ने रोमन नागरिकता हासिल कर ली थी और रोमन सैन्य शिक्षा प्राप्त की थी, जिससे वह युद्ध में रोमन कमांडर को व्यवस्थित रूप से धोखा देने और रोमन सेना की सामरिक प्रतिक्रियाओं का अनुमान लगाने में सक्षम हो गया था। 11 सितंबर को समाप्त हुई टुटोबर्ग वन की लड़ाई रोमन साम्राज्य को अपने इतिहास की सबसे बड़ी हार का सामना करना पड़ा और राइन नदी को अगले चार सौ वर्षों के लिए साम्राज्य और तथाकथित बर्बर लोगों के बीच की सीमा के रूप में स्थापित किया गया।

600 युकनूम चिएन (युकनूम महान) का जन्म माया साम्राज्य के कालकमुल में हुआ। यह बड़ा हो कर कान साम्राज्य शासक बना। इसकी राजधानी मेसोअमेरिकन कालक्रम के शास्त्रीय काल के दौरान कालकमुल में थी।

1185 इसहाक द्वितीय एंजेलोस ने स्टीफन हागियोक्रिस्टोफोराइट्स को मार डाला। जिसके परिणामस्वरूप उसके पक्ष में लोगों का विद्रोह हुआ जिसने एंड्रोनिकोस आई कॉमनेनोस को पदच्युत कर दिया और इसहाक को बीजान्टिन साम्राज्य के सिंहासन पर बिठाया।

1226 यूचरिस्टिक प्रार्थना की कैथोलिक प्रथा एविग्नन, फ्रांस में शुरू की गई।

1297 स्टर्लिंग ब्रिज की लड़ाई में विलियम वालेस और एंड्रयू मोरे के संयुक्त नेतृत्व में स्कॉट्स ने अंग्रेजों को हराया

1390 लिथुआनियाई गृहयुद्ध (जो 1389-92 के बीच हुआ) में ट्यूटनिक लड़ाकों ने राजधानी विनियस की पांच सप्ताह की घेराबंदी शुरू की।

1609 ब्रिटिश नाविक और खोजी हेनरी हडसन मैनहट्टन द्वीप पहुंचे और वहां रहने वाले मूल निवासियों से मिले। उन्होंने उत्तर-पूर्वी अमेरिका की खोज की जहां अब कनाडा है।

1649 ड्रोघेडा की घेराबंदी समाप्त हुई। इसमें ओलिवर क्रॉमवेल के संसदीय सैनिकों ने शहर पर कब्जा कर लिया और इसके प्रमुख को मार डाला।

1683 वियना की लड़ाई में पोलिश राजा जॉन तृतीय सोबिस्की के नेतृत्व में प्रसिद्ध पंख वाले हुसर्स सहित गठबंधन सेनाओं ने ओटोमन सेनाओं द्वारा की गई घेराबंदी समाप्त की।

1714 ड्यूक ऑफ बर्विक के नेतृत्व में फ्रेंच और स्पेनी सैनिको ने ब्राजील के शहर बार्सिलोना पर कब्जा किया।

1773 विख्यात अमेरिकी चिंतक, सामाजिक और राजनीतिक कार्यकर्ता, लेखक और संगठक बेंजामिन फ्रैंकलिन ने कभी भी एक अच्छा युद्ध या बुरी शांति नहीं थी नामक किताब लिखी।

1789 अलैक्जेंडर हैमिलटन अमेरिका के प्रथम वित्त सचिव नियुक्त हुए।

1979 बाॅलीवुड अभिनेत्री, माॅडल और कारोबारी महिला ट्यूलिप जोशी का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1980 लंदन के एक सर्राफा कारोबारी की दुकान में हुई लूट में प्रसिद्ध मार्लबोरो हीरा चुरा लिया गया।

1982 जानी मानी बाॅलीवुड हिंदी, तमिल, तेलुगू और दक्षिण भारतीय भाषाओं की फिल्मों की अभिनेत्री तथा बोल्ड माॅडल श्रिया सरन भटनागर का जन्म हरिद्वार में हुआ। इसी दिन जानी मानी, खूबसूरत, बोल्ड टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल रति पांडेय का जन्म असम में हुआ। इसी दिन लेबनान पर इजराइल के 1982 के आक्रमण के बाद फिलिस्तीनी शरणार्थियों की सुरक्षा की गारंटी देने वाली अंतर्राष्ट्रीय एजेंसियां छोड़ गईं। पांच दिन बाद, फलांगे बलों द्वारा सबरा और शतीला शरणार्थी शिविरों में कई हजार शरणार्थियों का नरसंहार किया गया।

1987 विख्यात हिंदी कवयित्री और हिंदी साहित्य में छायावादी युग के चार प्रमुख स्तंभों में से एक महादेवी वर्मा का निधन हुआ।

1989 तारक मेहता का उल्टा चश्मा और तमाम टेलीविजन शो की अभिनेत्री तथा माॅडल सुरभि चांदना का जन्म मुंबई में हुआ। इसी दिन हंगरी ने घोषणा की कि पूर्वी जर्मन शरणार्थी जिन्हें अस्थायी शिविरों में रखा गया था, वे पश्चिम जर्मनी जाने के लिए स्वतंत्र हैं।

1997 एक राष्ट्रव्यापी जनमत संग्रह में स्कॉटलैंड ने यूनाइटेड किंगडम के भीतर एक अपनी संसद की स्थापना के लिए मतदान किया। इसी दिन कुर्कसे त्रासदी में बाल्टिक बटालियन के 14 एस्टोनियाई सैनिक कुर्कसे जलडमरूमध्य में एक प्रशिक्षण अभ्यास के दौरान हाइपोथर्मिया से डूब कर मारे गये।

2001 अमेरिका के वर्ल्ड ट्रेड सेंटर पर हुए आतंकी हमले में 6 हजार से अधिक लोग मारे गए, इमारत ध्वस्त हो गई। इसमें इमारत से दो यात्री विमान टकराए गये। बताया गया कि यह ओसामा बिन लादेन के आतंकी संगठन का कुकृत्य था। हालांकि विश्लेषकों ने बाद में अध्ययन कर बताया कि इतनी बड़ी इमारत से दो विमानों टकराने इमारत ध्वस्त नहीं हो सकती थी।

2003 चीन के विरोध के बावजूद तिब्बत के धार्मिक नेता दलाई लामा से अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति जॉर्ज बुश मिले।

2005 इजराइल ने गाजा पट्टी में 38 वर्ष से जारी सैन्य शासन समाप्त करने की घोषणा की।

2011 भारतीय रक्षा वैज्ञानिकों ने ल्यूकोडर्मा यानी सफेद दाग की हर्बल औषधि तैयार करने का दावा किया। 2011 में इसी दिन न्यूयॉर्क शहर में 11 सितंबर के हमलों की 10वीं बरसी पर यूनाइटेड स्टेट्स नेशनल 11 सितंबर मेमोरियल में एक श्रद्धांजलि समारोह आयोजित किया गया और स्मारक का लोकार्पण किया गया।

2012 सोमालिया की सेना के साथ संघर्ष में अल शबाब के 50 आतंकवादी मारे गए। 2012 में इसी दिन पाकिस्तान में दो कपड़ा फैक्ट्री में आग लगने से कुल 315 लोग मारे गये। इसी दिन लीबिया के बेंगाजी में अमेरिकी दूतावास पर हमला हुआ, जिसमें चार लोगों की मौत हो गई।

2013 भारत के केंद्रीय वन एवं पर्यावरण मंत्रालय ने खेजड़ली नरसंहार की याद और वन संरक्षण में योगदान देने वालों के योगदान को सराहने के लिए 11 सितंबर को राष्ट्रीय वन शहीद दिवस के रूप में घोषित किया। वन संपदा, वन संरक्षकों, वनवासियों को बचाने की बात तो खूब होती है लेकिन इसके बावजूद सरकार और उसके सहयोगी-समर्थक पूंजीपतियों, माफियाओं, तस्करों द्वारा वनवासियों और वन्य संपदा का विनाश किया जा रहा है। सितंबर 1730 में मेवाड़ के महाराजा अभय सिंह की सेना ने खेजड़ली गांव में पेड़ काटने का विरोध करने वाली अमृता देवी और उनकी तीन बेटियों के सिर काट दिए। समर्थन में आए कई गांव के 363 ग्रामीणों की हत्या कर दी।

2014 दक्षिण अफ्रीकी एथलीट ऑस्कर पिस्टोरियस को अपनी प्रेमिका रीवा स्टीनकैंप की हत्या मामले में निर्दोष पाया गया।

2015 सऊदी अरब में मस्जिद अल-हरम पर एक क्रेन गिर जाने से 111 लोगों की मौत हो गई और 394 अन्य घायल हो गए।

2019 बी. जे. हबीबी, इंडोनेशिया के तीसरे राष्ट्रपति का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन अमेरिका ने प्रतिबंधित संगठन तहरीक-ए-तालिबान पाकिस्तान टीटीपी के सरगना नूर वली महसूद पर प्रतिबंध लगाया और उसे वैश्विक आतंकवादी करार दिया।

2020 विख्यात सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता स्वामी अग्निवेश का निधन हुआ। 2020 में इसी दिन जमैका के प्रसिद्ध गायक और गीतकार टूट्स हिबर्ट का निधन हुआ।

2021 अबीमेल गुजमैन, पेरू के प्रसिद्ध दार्शनिक और अकादमिक का निधन हुआ।

2022 जेवियर मारियास, प्रसिद्ध स्पेनिश उपन्यासकार, पत्रकार और अनुवादक, जॉन डब्ल्यू. ओश्मैली, अमेरिकी अकादमिक, कैथोलिक इतिहासकार और जेसुइट पादरी और जॉयस रेनॉल्ड्स, ब्रिटिश क्लासिकिस्ट और अकादमिक का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन 2022 में बिहार के जाने माने राजनेता सुधाकर सिंह ने कैमूर जिले में किसानों की एक सभा को संबोधित करते हुए कहा कि सरकार को सतर्क करना आम लोगों का कर्तव्य है। सुधाकर सिंह ने कहा कि मेरे विभाग में कई चोर हैं और वे पैसे चुरा रहे हैं। विभाग का प्रभारी होने के कारण मैं उनका प्रमुख बन जाता हूं। मेरे ऊपर और भी कई प्रमुख हैं।

2023 आंध्र प्रदेश के पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री एन. चंद्रबाबू नायडू को विजयवाड़ा की एक अदालत द्वारा कौशल विकास घोटाले के मामले में 14 दिन की न्यायिक हिरासत में भेजे जाने के 10 सितंबर के आदेश के बाद 11 सितंबर की सुबह राजमुंदरी सेंट्रल जेल में स्थानांतरित कर दिया गया।

World History of September 11: Information about important events, birth and death days of famous people in India and the world in 2000

9 AD The Battle of the Teutoburg Forest ends. This historical battle, described by Roman historians as the Varian Disaster (in Latin, Clades Variana), was a major battle between Germanic tribes and the Roman Empire. It took place between 8 and 11 September, 9 AD in modern-day Kalkriz. A coalition of Germanic peoples led by Publius Quinctilius Varus ambushed the Roman forces and their auxiliaries. The coalition was led by Arminius, a Germanic officer from the Auxilia of Varus. Arminius had previously acquired Roman citizenship and received Roman military education, enabling him to systematically deceive Roman commanders in battle and anticipate the Roman army's tactical responses. The Battle of the Teutoburg Forest, which ended on September 11, dealt the Roman Empire its greatest defeat in its history and established the Rhine River as the border between the Empire and the so-called barbarians for the next four hundred years.
