1727 प्रथम बॉक्सिंग मैच लंदन में हुआ जिसमें जेम्स फिग ने नेड सटन को हराया।

1674 शिवाजी का रायगढ़ के किले में राज्याभिषेक हुआ और उन्हें छत्रपति की उपाधि मिली।

1733 ब्रिटेन के रसायनज्ञ एवं भौतिक शास्त्री जोजफ प्रिसली का फील्ड नगर में जन्म हुआ।

1744 फ्रांस और पर्शिया ने शांति संधि पर हस्ताक्षर किये गये।

1752 भयंकर आग लगने से मास्को में करीब 18,000 लोग और अरबों रुपये की संपत्ति जलकर राख हो गई।

1808 फ्रांस के विख्यात शासक नेपोलियन बोनापार्ट के भाई जोसफ को स्पेन का राजा बनाया गया।

1831 अमेरिका के फिलाडेल्फिया में दूसरा राष्ट्रीय अश्वेत सम्मेलन हुआ।

1844 लंदन में युवा पुरुष ईसाई संघ (वाईएमसीए) की स्थापना की गयी।

1867 कलकत्ता उच्च न्यायालय के न्यायाधीश बनने वाले पहले भारतीय संभुनाथ पंडित का निधन हुआ। पंडित 1863 में कलकत्ता हाई कोर्ट में जज नियुक्त हुए।

1877 प्रसिद्ध मलयालम साहित्यकार, कवि और इतिहासकार एस. परमेश्वर अय्यर का जन्म हुआ।

1881 प्रसिद्ध हिंदी साहित्यकार गिरिधर शर्मा नवरत्न का जन्म हुआ।

1882 न्यूयॉर्क के इंजीनियर, आविष्कारक, गणितज्ञ और बहुप्रतिभावान हेनरी डब्ल्यू सिले को इलेक्ट्रिक आयरन का पेटेंट मिला। आज कपड़े प्रेस करने को जो प्रेस हम इस्तेमाल करते हैं उसका सुधरा हुआ रूप यही प्रेस थी।

1884 मशहूर उर्दू शायर शौक बहराइची यानी रियासत हुसैन रिजवी का अयोध्या के सइयदवाड़ा में जन्म हुआ। बाद में उनका परिवार बहराइच जा बसा। जब यह शायर हुए तो इन्होंने अपना शायरी का नाम शौक बहरायची कर लिया। ‘बर्बाद गुलिश्तां करने को बस एक ही उल्लू काफी है, हर साख पे उल्लू बैठा है, अंजाम-ए-गुलिश्तां क्या होगा’ इनका प्रसिद्ध शेर है।

1889 मिस्र के विश्व प्रसिद्ध साहित्यकार ताहा हुसैन का जन्म हुआ।

1891 कन्नड कहानी के प्रवर्तक और कन्नड की संपत्ति के रूप में बहुप्रतिष्ठि, बहुचर्चित कवि, कहानीकार, उपन्यासकार, नाटककार, अनुवादक और आलोचक मास्ति वेंकटेश अय्यंगार का जन्म हुआ।

1901 इंडोनेशिया के प्रथम राष्ट्रपति और विश्व प्रसिद्ध राजनेता सुकर्णो का जन्म हुआ।

1916 अमेरिका के ईस्ट क्लीवलैंड में महिलाओं को चुनाव में मतदान का अधिकार मिला।

1918 प्रथम विश्व युद्ध के बीच बेलेयू वुड युद्ध में अमेरिका को पहली जीत मिली।

1919 फिनलैंड ने बोलशेविकों के खिलाफ युद्ध की घोषणा की। इसी दिन हिदी सिनेमा के एक प्रसिद्ध गीतकार राजेंद्र कृष्ण का जन्म हुआ और प्रिकमर्ग गणराज्य पर हंगरी की लाल सेना ने आक्रमण किया।

1920 कर्नाटक के प्रसिद्ध भारतीय भौतिक विज्ञानी, शिक्षक, लेखक, स्वतंत्रता सेनानी तथा तर्कवादी होसूर नरसिम्हैया का जन्म हुआ।

1924 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय राजनीतिज्ञ सोमप्पा रायप्पा बोम्मई का जन्म हुआ। बोम्मई पहले कांग्रेस फिर जनता दल के नेता हुए और कर्नाटक के 11वें मुख्यमंत्री हुए।

1929 अभिनेता, राजनेता और समाजसेवक सुनील दत्त का जन्म पश्चिमी पंजाब के झेलम (वर्तमान पाकिस्तान) हुआ।

1936 प्रसिद्ध फिल्म निर्माता डी. रामानायडू का जन्म हुआ।

1939 भारत के प्रसिद्ध एथलीट गुरबचन सिंह रंधावा का जन्म हुआ।

1944 द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध के दौरान अमरीकी वायु सेना ने जापान के दक्षिणी नगर फोकोला पर बमबारी करके जापान के विरुद्ध अपना हवाई आक्रमण आरंभ किया।

1946 बिहार के प्रभावशाली राजनेता रघुवंश प्रसाद सिंह का जन्म हुआ।

1955 बाजारू साहित्य या लुगदी साहित्य कहे जाने वाले लोकप्रिय उपन्यासों के रचयिता वेद प्रकाश शर्मा का जन्म हुआ।

1956 विश्व विख्यात स्वीडिश टेनिस खिलाड़ी ब्योन बोर्ग का जन्म हुआ।

1960 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय थिएटर, टेलीविजन धारावाहिक, टेलीफिल्म, डॉक्यूमेंट्री और फिल्म अभिनेता एस सत्येंद्र का जन्म हुआ।

1965 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड हिंदी एवं मराठी फिल्म अभिनेत्री निवेदिता जोशी सर्राफ का जन्म हुआ।

1966 अमरीका के मिसिसिपी विश्वविद्यालय में रंगभेद के विरुद्ध आंदोलन चलाने वाले पहले अश्वेत मानवाधिकार कार्यकर्ता, जेम्स मेरिडिथ पर एक व्यक्ति ने कई गोलियां चलाईं।

1967 प्रख्यात सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता कैप्टन अवधेश प्रताप सिंह का निधन हुआ। 1967 में इसी दिन इजरायली सेना ने फिलिस्तीन में गाजा पर कब्जा किया।

1968 दिल्ली के सातवें मुख्यमंत्री, पूर्व नौकरशाह तथा दिल्ली और पंजाब में सत्तारूढ़ आम आदमी पार्टी के मुखिया अरविंद केजरीवाल का जन्म हुआ।

1970 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय क्रिकेटर सुनील जोशी का जन्म हुआ।

1975 दक्षिणी वियतनाम में अस्थाई क्रांतिकारी सरकार का गठन हुआ।

1977 बेलारूस के प्रसिद्ध टेनिस खिलाड़ी मैक्स मिरन्यी का जन्म हुआ।

1981 बिहार की बाघमती नदी में एक ट्रेन गिर गई जिससे उसमें सवार 1000 लोगों में से करीब 800 लोगों की मौत हो गई।

1982 कर्नाटक के प्रमुख राजनेता और 8वें मुख्यमंत्री डी. देवराज अर्स का निधन हुआ। 1982 में इसी दिन वी. वेंकटसुब्बा रेड्डीयर का निधन हुआ। वे भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस के प्रमुख राजनीतिज्ञ थे।

1984 दमदमी टकसाल के प्रमुख, खलिस्तान आंदोलन के नेता जरनैल सिंह भिंडरांवाले की मौत हुई। खालिस्तानियों ने 1980 और 90 के दशक में उत्तर भारत में बहुत आतंक मचाया। हजारों लोगों की हत्या की और बहुत सरकारी तथा निजी संपत्ति नष्ट की। स्वर्ण मंदिर में डेरा डाले भिंडरावाले और उनके तमाम साथियों को भारतीय सुरक्षा बलों ने आपरेशन ब्ल्यू स्टार में मार गिराया। बाद में 31 अक्टूबर 1984 को खालिस्तान समर्थक सिख सुरक्षा गार्डों ने प्रधानमंत्री श्रीमती इंदिरा गांधी की 28 गोलियां मारकर हत्या कर दी।

1984 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड अभिनेत्री, फिल्म पटकथा लेखिका एवं निर्देशिका पाखी टायरवाला का जन्म हुआ।

1985 खूबसूरत, बोल्ड, जानी मानी टेलीविजन और फिल्म अभिनेत्री तथा माॅडल गौरी मुंजाल का जन्म दिल्ली में हुआ।

1988 आज के दौर की जानी मानी फिल्मी गीत गायिका नेहा कक्कड़ का जन्म ऋषिकेश में हुआ। 1988 में इसी दिन प्रसिद्ध भारतीय क्रिकेटर अजिंक्य रहाणे का जन्म हुआ।

1994 वेस्टइंडीज के दिग्गज बल्लेबाज ब्रायन लारा ने एजबेस्टन में वारविकशायर के खिलाफ मैच में प्रथम श्रेणी इतिहास की सर्वाधिक 501 रन की पारी खेली।

1995 पाकिस्तान में बाल अपराधियों को कोड़े मारने अथवा उनकी फांसी की सजा प्रतिबंधित की गई।

1997 बैंकॉक में भारत, बांग्लादेश, श्रीलंका एवं थाईलैंड ने आर्थिक सहयोग समूह बिस्टेक गठित किया।

1999 टेनिस में प्रथम भारतीय जोड़ी लिएंडर पेस तथा महेश भूपति ने टेनिस का ग्रैंड स्लैम जीता। इसी दिन दक्षिण भारतीय फिल्मों की जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड अभिनेत्री और माॅडल सना अल्ताफ का जन्म हुआ।

2002 इस्रायली सेना ने रामल्ला में फिलिस्तीनी नेता यासिर अराफात के मुख्यालय पर हमला किया। 2002 में इसी दिन संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघ सुरक्षा परिषद ने आतंकी संस्था अलकायदा पर प्रतिबंध लगाने के प्रस्ताव को सर्वम्मति से पारित किया।

2004 राष्ट्रपति एपीजे अब्दुल कलाम ने तमिल को भारत की शास्त्रीय भाषा घोषित किया गया। यह निर्णय संयुक्त संसदीय बैठक के बाद लिया गया जिसमें संसद के दोनों सदनों ने भाग लिया। भारतीय संसद के दोनों सदनों  लोक सभा और राज्यसभा के संयुक्त संयुक्त सत्र के दौरान कलाम ने उपरोक्त घोषणा की।

2005 ईरान गैस पाइप लाइन योजना पर भारत और पाकिस्तान में सहमति बनी।

2007 दक्षिण अफ्रीका की नस्ल विरोधी नेता विनी मैडिकिजेला मंडेला (अश्वेतों के अधिकारों के लिए 27 वर्ष जेल में रहने वाले और बाद में चुनाव जीतकर राष्ट्रपति बनने वाले नेल्सन मंडेला की पत्नी रहीं) के कनाडा में प्रवेश पर रोक लगी।

2008 कर्नाटक में बी. एस. येदियुरप्पा के मुख्यमंत्रित्व वाली बीजेपी की पहली सरकार ने विश्वास मत हासिल किया। 2008 में इसी दिन अंतर्राष्ट्रीय स्पेस स्टेशन में जापानी लैव कीबो ने कार्य करना शुरू किया।

2010 109 पुरुषों की फ्रेंच ओपन में राफेल नडाल ने रॉबिन सोडरलिंग को (6-4, 6-2, 6-4 से) हराया।

2020 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय फुटबाल खिलाड़ी हमज़ा कोया का कोरोना संक्रमण के बाद देहांत हुआ।

1674 Shivaji was coronated at Raigarh fort and received the title of Chhatrapati.

1733 British chemist and physicist Joseph Presley was born in Field town.

1744 Peace treaty was signed by France and Persia.

In 1752, due to a fierce fire, about 18,000 people and property worth billions of rupees were burnt to ashes in Moscow.

1808 Joseph, brother of Napoleon Bonaparte, the famous ruler of France, was made the king of Spain.

1831 Second National Black Convention was held in Philadelphia, America.

1844 Young Men's Christian Association (YMCA) was founded in London.

1867 Sambhunath Pandit, the first Indian to become a judge of the Calcutta High Court, passed away. Pandit was appointed a judge in the Calcutta High Court in 1863.

1877 Renowned Malayalam litterateur, poet and historian S. Parameshwara Iyer was born.

1881 Giridhar Sharma Navratna, famous Hindi litterateur, was born.

1882 New York engineer, inventor, mathematician and multi-talented Henry W. Sealey receives a patent for an electric iron. This press was an improved form of the press we use today to press clothes.

1884 Famous Urdu poet Shokh Bahraichi i.e. Riyasat Hussain Rizvi was born in Sayyadwara, Ayodhya. Later his family settled in Bahraich. When he became a poet, he changed the name of his poetry to Shauk Bahraichi. 'Only one owl is enough to ruin Gulishtan, owl is sitting on every credit, what will be the result of Gulishtan' is his famous lion.

1889 Taha Hussein, world famous Egyptian writer, was born.

1891 Masti Venkatesh Iyengar, well-known poet, story writer, novelist, dramatist, translator and critic of Kannada fiction and property of Kannada, was born.

1901 Sukarno, Indonesia's first president and world-famous politician, was born.

1916 Women got the right to vote in the election in East Cleveland, America.

1918 The United States wins the first World War I victory at the Battle of Belleau Wood.

1919 Finland declares war on the Bolsheviks. On this day Rajendra Krishna, a famous lyricist of Hindi cinema, was born and the Republic of Prekmarg was invaded by the Hungarian Red Army.

1920 Hosur Narasimhaiya, famous Indian physicist, teacher, writer, freedom fighter and rationalist from Karnataka, was born.

1924 Somappa Rayappa Bommai, noted Indian politician, was born. Bommai first became the leader of Congress then Janata Dal and became the 11th Chief Minister of Karnataka.

1929 Sunil Dutt, actor, politician and social worker, was born in Jhelum, West Punjab (now Pakistan).

1936 D. Ramanaidu, noted film producer, was born.

1939 Gurbachan Singh Randhawa, famous Indian athlete, was born.

1944 The US Air Force begins its air offensive against Japan during World War II by bombing the southern Japanese city of Fokola.

1946 Raghuvansh Prasad Singh, influential Bihar politician, was born.

1955 Ved Prakash Sharma, author of popular novels called market literature or pulp literature, was born.

1956 Björn Borg, world-renowned Swedish tennis player, was born.

1960 S. Satyendra, noted Indian theatre, television serial, telefilm, documentary and film actor, was born.

1965 Nivedita Joshi Saraf, well-known beautiful, bold Hindi and Marathi film actress, was born.

1966 A man fires several shots at James Meredith, the first black civil rights activist to lead an anti-apartheid movement at the University of Mississippi, USA.

1967 Captain Awadhesh Pratap Singh, eminent social worker, passed away. On this day in 1967, Israeli forces captured Gaza in Palestine.

1968 Arvind Kejriwal, seventh Chief Minister of Delhi, former bureaucrat and head of the ruling Aam Aadmi Party in Delhi and Punjab, was born.

1970 Sunil Joshi, famous Indian cricketer, was born.

1975 Provisional Revolutionary Government formed in South Vietnam.

1977 Max Mirnyi, famous Belarusian tennis player, was born.

1981 A train fell into the Baghmati river in Bihar, killing about 800 out of 1000 people on board.

1982 D. Devaraja Ursa, prominent politician and 8th Chief Minister of Karnataka, passed away. V. Venkatasubba Reddyer died on this day in 1982. He was a prominent politician of the Indian National Congress.

1984 Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, leader of the Khalistan movement, head of the Dumdami Mint, died. The Khalistanis created a lot of terror in North India in the 1980s and 90s. Killed thousands of people and destroyed a lot of government and private property. Bhindranwale and all his associates camped in the Golden Temple were killed by the Indian security forces in Operation Blue Star. Later, on 31 October 1984, pro-Khalistan Sikh security guards killed Prime Minister Mrs. Indira Gandhi by firing 28 bullets.

1984 Pakhi Tyrewala, well-known beautiful, bold actress, film screenwriter and director, was born.

1985 Gauri Munjal, beautiful, bold, well-known television and film actress and model, was born in Delhi.

1988 Neha Kakkar, a well-known film song singer of today, was born in Rishikesh. Famous Indian cricketer Ajinkya Rahane was born on this day in 1988.

1994 West Indies legend Brian Lara scored the highest innings in first-class history, 501, against Warwickshire at Edgbaston.

In 1995, flogging or hanging of juvenile offenders was banned in Pakistan.

In 1997, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Thailand formed the Bistec Economic Cooperation Group in Bangkok.

Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi became the first Indian pair to win the Grand Slam of tennis in 1999. On this day, the famous beautiful, bold actress and model of South Indian films Sana Altaf was born.

2004 President APJ Abdul Kalam declared Tamil as the classical language of India. The decision was taken after a joint parliamentary meeting in which both the Houses of Parliament participated. Kalam made the above announcement during the joint joint session of both the Houses of the Indian Parliament, the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha.

2007 South African anti-apartheid leader Winnie Madikizela Mandela (wife of Nelson Mandela, who was imprisoned for 27 years for black rights and later won the election to become president) is denied entry to Canada.
