451 फ्लेवियस एटिअस ने रोमन फेडरेटी की मदद से, कैटालूनियन मैदान की लड़ाई में एटिलिला को हराया और हूणों और उनके सहयोगियों के आक्रमण को विफल कर दिया।

1819 तीन सौ बीस टन वजनी सवाना अटलांटिक महासागर को पार करने वाली पहली स्टीमशिप बनी।

1837 राजकुमारी विक्टोरिया 18 वर्ष की आयु में ब्रिटेन की महारानी बनीं। उनके 3 भाइयों की मौत हो चुकी थी और राजशाही में एक विक्टोरिया ही वारिस बची थीं। विक्टोरिया ने सरकारी नीति और मंत्रिस्तरीय नियुक्तियों को प्रभावित किया, सार्वजनिक रूप से, वह एक राष्ट्रीय आइकन बन गई, और व्यक्तिगत नैतिकता के सख्त मानकों के पालन के कारण एक आदर्श और प्रतिष्ठित महिला और रानी हुईं।

1895 कैरोलिना विलर्ड बाल्डविन कॉर्नेल यूनिवर्सिटी से पीएचडी करने वाली पहली अमेरिकी महिला बनीं।

1905 विख्यात बांग्ला फिल्म अभिनेता, संगीतकार, रंगकर्मी कानू बनर्जी का जन्म जोधपुर में हुआ।

1910 प्रसिद्ध हिंदी एकांकीकार भुवनेश्वर प्रसाद श्रीवास्तव का जन्म शाहजहांपुर उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ।

1916 पुणे में एसएनडीटी महिला विश्वविद्यालय की स्थापना हुई

1923 कलकत्ता के प्रसिद्ध अखबार आनंद बाजार पत्रिका से संबद्ध जेसोर जिला बंगाल (अब बांग्लादेश) में प्रखर पत्रकार और लेखक गौर किशोर घोष का जन्म हुआ।

1960 अफ्रीकी देश माली फेडरेशन (बाद में माली और सेनेगल में विभाजन) को फ्रांस से स्वतंत्रता मिली।

1861 ब्रिटिश बायोकेमिस्ट और नोबेल पुरस्कार विजेता फ्रेडरिक गोलैंड हॉपकिंस का जन्म हुआ।

1984 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड खिलाड़ी, फिल्म अभिनेत्री, माॅडल, नृत्यांगना, थिएटर कलाकार एवं फिल्म निर्मात्री नीतू चंद्रा का जन्म पटना, बिहार में हुआ।

1985 अमेरिका ने अपना उच्चतम नागरिक सम्मान द मेडल ऑफ फ्रीडम इसाई मिशनरी मदर टेरेसा को प्रदान किया। इसी दिन जाने माने टेलीविजन अभिनेता और माॅडल शोएब इब्राहिम का जन्म भोपाल में हुआ।

1986 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड भारतीय टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल नीता शेट्टी का जन्म बंगलौर में हुआ।

1987 जाने माने भारतीय टेलीविजन अभिनेता शोएब इब्राहिम का जन्म भोपाल में हुआ।

2000 काहिरा में समूह-15 देशों के दसवें शिखर सम्मेलन का समापन हुआ।

2001 शर्णार्थियों की वैश्विक समस्या को देखते हुए संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघ ने पहली बार विश्व शरणार्थी दिवस यानी वर्ल्ड रिफ्यूजी डे का आयोजन किया। यह दिवस मनाने का 4 दिसंबर 2000 को संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा ने निर्णय लिया। शर्णार्थी वैश्विक समस्या हैं। तमाम देशों में ग्रहयुद्ध चल रहे हैं, कई देश दूसरे देशों से युद्धों में उलझे हैं। ऐसे में सुरक्षित जगहों की तलाशों में लोग अपनी जान जोखिम में डालकर पलायन करते हैं लेकिन वे जिधर भी जाते हैं उन्हें वहां तरह-तरह की मुश्किलों का सामना करना पड़ता है। करोड़ों शर्णार्थी दुनिया भर में घोर अमानवीय स्थितियों में हैं। ऐसे में शर्णाथियों की समस्याओं के यथासंभव निस्तारण, उनके पुनर्वास, उनके जीवन-यापन, सम्मान इत्यादि के लिए जनजागरूकता बढ़ाने, सरकारों और स्वयं सेवी संगठनों के तालमेल करवाकर शर्णार्थियों को मदद पहुंचाने के उद्देश्य से संयुक्त राष्ट्र ने बड़ा प्रयास किया। 2001 में 20 जून को ही जनरल परवेज मुशर्रफ पाकिस्तान के राष्ट्रपति बने।

2002 अमेरिका की सर्वोच्च अदालत ने मानसिक बीमारों की फांसी की सजा पर रोक लगाई। इसी दिन 2002 में पाकिस्तान ने अशरफ जहाँगीर काजी को अमेरिका में अपना नया राजदूत नियुक्त किया।

2006 जापान ने अपनी सेनाओं को इराक से वापस बुलाने का निर्णय लिया।

2008 बीज कंपनी अवदात इंडिया लिमिटेड ने अमेरिकी कम्पनी लिमाग्रेन के सोयाबीन बीज के कारोबार का अधिग्रहण किया। यूरोपीय संघ ने क्यूबा पर लगे प्रतीकात्मक प्रतिबंध हटाने का निर्णय लिया।

2012 लीबिया में सामुदायिक हिंसा में 105 लोगों की मौत हुई और 500 के करीब लोग घायल हुए।

2014 प्रख्यात हिंदी कवि केदारनाथ सिंह को ज्ञानपीठ पुरस्कार देने की घोषणा की गई।

712 Muhammad bin Qasim attacked and captured Sindh. He defeated and killed Raja Dahir at Raver. Qasim was an Umayyad general who conquered the Sindh and Multan regions. He was born and raised in the city of Taif (now in modern Saudi Arabia). Qasim's conquest of Sindh and the southern-most parts of Multan paved the way for Islamic expansion in India.

1756 Nawab Siraj-ud-daulah's soldiers imprisoned British soldiers in the cellars of Fort William.

1760 Lord Wellesley, noted British officer and politician, was born. He was the Governor-General of India from 1798-1805.

1819 The 320-ton Savannah becomes the first steamship to cross the Atlantic Ocean.

1837 Princess Victoria becomes Queen of Britain at the age of 18. His 3 brothers had died and Victoria was the only heir left in the monarchy.
