1269 फ्रांसीसी सम्राट लुई नौवें ने यहूदियों को शर्म का बिल्ला पहनने का आदेश जारी किया। सार्वजनिक रूप से पीले बैज के बिना पाए गए यहूदी पर 10 लिवरेज चांदी का जुर्माना लगाने की व्यवस्था दी।

1716 प्रसिद्ध सिख सैनिक बंदा सिंह बहादुर की मुगल बादशाह फरूखसियर कैद में यातनाओं से मौत हुई।

1816 फर व्यापार विवाद के चलते कनाडा के विन्निपेग के पास नॉर्थ वेस्ट कंपनी और हडसन की बे कंपनी के बीच सेवन ओक्स शुरु हुआ। इसे पेमिकन युद्ध के नाम से जाना जाता है।

1843 महान जनवादी, समाजवादी नेता, चिंतक, संगठनकर्ता, मार्गदर्शक, दार्शनिक और दास कैपिटल सहित अनेक चर्चित पुस्तकों के लेखक और समाजशास्त्री काल मार्क्स ने जर्मन थिएटर आलोचक और राजनीतिक कार्यकर्ता जोहाना बर्था जूली जेनी एडल वॉन वेस्टफेलन से विवाह किया।

1846 अलेक्जेंडर कार्टराइट ने आधुनिक नियमों का उपयोग करके पहले आधिकारिक तौर पर दर्ज बेसबॉल खेल को अमेरिका के न्यू जर्सी के होबोकन में खेला।

1770 यरूशलेम में नवीन जनरल चर्च की स्थापना हुई।

1871 स्वतंत्रता संग्राम सेनानी, चिंतक, सामाजिक-राजनीतिक कार्यकर्ता माधवराव सप्रे का जन्म मध्य प्रदेश के दमोह जिले के पथरिया ग्राम में हुआ।

1865 यूनियन जनरल ग्रैनर ने टेक्सास के सभी गुलामों को आजाद किया।

1910 अमेरिका में सोनोरा स्मार्ट डोड नाम की महिला ने अपने पिता को सम्मानित करने के लिए पहला फादर्स डे मनाया। सोनोरा के पिता विलियम्स स्मार्ट ने पत्नी की मृत्यु के बाद 6 बच्चों का पालन पोषण किया था।

1922 डेनमार्क के प्रसिद्ध भौतिक विज्ञानी, नोबेल पुरस्कार विजेता आजे नील्स बोर का जन्म हुआ।

1931 भाजपा नेता, उत्तराखंड और सिक्किम के राज्यपाल रहे सुदर्शन अग्रवाल का जन्म हुआ।

1943 बांगलादेश की प्रमुख फिल्म अभिनेत्री दिलारा जमां का जन्म बर्धमान में हुआ।

1945 बर्मा में कई साल कैद और घर में नजरबंद रहने के बाद दुनिया में आजादी के लिए संघर्ष के प्रतीक के रूप में उभरीं आंग सान सू की का जन्म हुआ। रोहिंग्या मुस्लिमों के खिलाफ पुलिस और सुरक्षा बलों के अत्यधिक दुरुपयोग, युद्धापराध की अंतरराष्ट्रीय न्यायालय द्वारा ठहराई गई सू की अपनी ही सेना द्वारा तख्ता पलट करने के बाद से जेल में हैं।

1947 मशहूर ब्रिटिश-भारतीय लेखक और उपन्यासकार सलमान रश्दी का जन्म हुआ। इनके उपन्यास द सेटेनिक वर्सेस पर बहुत विवाद हुआ। भारत सहित कई देशों में यह किताब प्रतिबंधित हुई और ईरान के सर्वोच्च धार्मिक, प्रशासनिक नेता अयातुल्लाह खुमैनी ने रश्दी का सिर काटने वाले को एक करोड़ ईनाम देने का ऐलान किया था।

1948 भारतीय राजनीतिज्ञ तथा मणिपुर के मुख्यमंत्री रहे ओकरम इबोबी सिंह का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन सोवियत संघ ने पश्चिमी बर्लिन की ओर जाने वाली सड़कों को बंद कर दिया।

1949 बीसवीं सदी के एक प्रमुख मुस्लिम दार्शनिक सैयद जफरुल हसन का निधन हुआ। उन्होंने इलाहाबाद में अपनी शिक्षा पूरी की और एरलांगेन और हीडलबर्ग, जर्मनी और ऑक्सफोर्ड विश्वविद्यालय से डॉक्टरेट की उपाधि प्राप्त की। हसन भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप के पहले मुस्लिम विद्वान थे जिन्होंने ऑक्सफोर्ड से दर्शनशास्त्र में पीएचडी की उपाधि प्राप्त की।

1955 हिंदी सहित कई भाषाओं की फिल्मों में अभिनय करने वाली बांगला फिल्मों की लोकप्रिय अभिनेत्री मीठू मुखर्जी का जन्म कलकत्ता में हुआ।

1961 कुवैत ने इंग्लैंड से स्वतंत्रता की घोषणा की। ब्रिटेन 1899 से 1961 के बीच कुवैत का संरक्षक रहा। आजादी के बाद, शेख अब्दुल्ला अल-सलीम अल-सबाह राजा बने।

1962 हिंदी सहित विभिन्न भारतीय भाषाओं की फिल्मों के मशहूर निर्देशक आशीष विद्यार्थी का जन्म हुआ।

1966 बंबई में बाला साहेब ठाकरे ने अपनी नई राजनीतिक पार्टी शिवसेना की नींव रखी। मराठी लोगों के अधिकारों के संघर्ष करने के घोषित उद्देश्य से इस पार्टी का गठन किया गया। 

1968 विख्यात मानवतावादी, मानवाधिकारवादी मार्टिन लूथर किंग के नेतृत्व में सामाजिक आर्थिक न्याय के लिए 50,000 लोगों ने प्रदर्शन किया।

1970 कांग्रेस नेता राहुल गांधी का जन्म नई दिल्ली में हुआ। राहुल राजीव गांधी गांधी परिवार के राजनीतिज्ञ और भारतीय संसद के पूर्व सदस्य हैं, जिन्होंने लोकसभा में अमेठी, उत्तर प्रदेश और वायनाड, केरल के निर्वाचन क्षेत्रों का प्रतिनिधित्व किया है। एक साजिश के तहत मोदी सरकार ने इनकी संसद सदस्यता रद्द पिछले दिनों करवा दी। यह कांग्रेस के अध्यक्ष भी रहे हैं। इस समय कांग्रेस के प्रमुख नेता हैं और प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी के बाद भारत के विश्व में सबसे चर्चित नेता हैं। इसी दिन पेटेंट सहयोग संधि, एक अंतरराष्ट्रीय कानून संधि पर हस्ताक्षर किए गए थे, जो आविष्कारों की रक्षा के लिए पेटेंट आवेदन दायर करने के लिए एक एकीकृत प्रक्रिया प्रदान करते थे।

1973 बांगला भाषा में अपनी आत्मकथा आलो आंधारि से चर्चा में आई, घरेलू अत्यंत गरीब महिला, घरेलू सेविका से लेखिका, स्त्री संघर्षों की प्रतीक और सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता बनीं बेबी हाल्दार का जन्म हुआ।

1979 जनता पार्टी में विभाजन के बाद प्रधानमंत्री मोरारजी देसाई ने इस्तीफा दिया।

1982 लेबनान में हिजबुल्लाह ने हमला करके बेरुत यूनिवर्सिटी के अध्यक्ष को अगवा कर लिया।

1985 हिंदी तथा दक्षिण भारतीय सिनेमा की जानी मानी, खूबसूरत, बोल्ड अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल काजल अग्रवाल का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1991 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड फिल्म एवं टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री तथा माॅडल शिवानी रघुवंशी का जन्म दिल्ली में हुआ। इसी दिन सोवियत संघ ने हंगरी को अपने कब्जे से आजाद किया था।

1996 बौद्धिक संपदा कानून आई.पी.आर. पर चीन एवं अमेरिका के बीच समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर हुए एवं प्रसिद्ध अंपायर डिकी बर्ड एम.सी.सी. की आजीवन सदस्यता से सम्मानित किये गये।

1999 जर्मनी के कोलोन नगर में समूह-8 की शिखर बैठक शुरु हुई।

2002 पाकिस्तान के विदेश सचिव इनामुल हक को पाकिस्तान का विदेश मंत्री बनाया गया।

2003 फिनलैंड की प्रथम महिला प्रधानमंत्री एनेली जाटिनमांकी ने अपने पद से इस्तीफा दिया।

2005 फोर्ब्स पत्रिका ने विश्व विख्यात गायिका, अभिनेत्री तथा सामाजिक कार्यकत्री ओप्रा विनफे को दुनिया की सौ ताकतवर हस्तियों की सूची में पहला स्थान दिया।

2006 जापान ने उत्तरी कोरिया को परमाणु परीक्षण मामले पर कड़ी चेतावनी दी।

2007 पाकिस्तान के राष्ट्रपति परवेज मुशर्रफ ने सूचना मंत्री के पद से मोहम्मद अली दुर्रानी को हटाया। इसी दिन विश्व में राजनीतिक रूप से अस्थिर देशों की सूची में पाकिस्तान को 12वाँ स्थान प्राप्त हुआ।

2008 दुनिया भर के देश 19 जून को विश्व सिकल सेल दिवस मनाते हैं, जिसे 2008 में संयुक्त राष्ट्र द्वारा एक प्रस्ताव के रूप में प्रस्तुत किया गया था। इस दिन को मनाने का उद्देश्य सिकल सेल एनीमिया को पहचानना एक इस आनुवंशिक सार्वजनिक स्वास्थ्य समस्या में जनजागरूकता बढ़ाने, इससे निपटने के उपायों पर विचार-विमर्श करने, इस कार्य में लगी एजेंसियों के बीच सहयोग के आदान-प्रदान को बढ़ावा देना है। सिकल सेल एनीमिया में, कुछ लाल रक्त कोशिकाएं गेहूं काटने वाली दरांती जैसी होती हैं। सिकल सेल एनीमिया वंशानुगत विकारों के समूह में से एक है जिसे सिकल सेल रोग कहा जाता है। यह लाल रक्त कोशिकाओं के आकार को प्रभावित करता है, जो शरीर के सभी भागों में ऑक्सीजन पहुंचने में दिक्कतें होती हैं।

उत्तराखंड सरकार ने गंगा पर निर्माणाधीन 480 मेगावाट की पाला मनेरी व 380 मेगावाट की भैरोंधारी परियोजना को स्थगित किया। इसी दिन 2008 में गाजापट्टी में हिंसक संघर्ष रोकने के लिए इस्रायल सरकार व फिलिस्तीन के राजनीतिक संगठन हमास के बीच युद्ध विराम समझौता लागू हुआ।

2010 स्वीडन की क्राउन प्रिंसेस विक्टोरिया और डैनियल वेस्टलिंग की शाही शादी स्टॉकहोम कैथेड्रल में हुई।

2012 विकिलिक्स के संस्थापक जूलियन असांजे ने अमेरिकी सेना द्वारा नागरिक हत्याओं सहित कुछ वर्गीकृत दस्तावेजों के प्रकाशन के बाद अमेरिका को प्रत्यर्पण के डर से लंदन के इक्वाडोरियन दूतावास में शरण मांगी। इसी दिन पाकिस्तान के सर्वोच्च न्यायालय ने अवमानना के मामले में दोषी प्रधानमंत्री यूसुफ रजा गिलानी को पद पर बने रहने के लिए बीते 26 अप्रैल से ही अयोग्य करार दिया।

2015 विश्व जातीय दिवस या विश्व एथनिक दिवस वर्ल्ड एथनिक डे मनाया गया। विश्व एथनिक दिवस का का उद्देश्य समस्त विश्व में अलग - अलग क्षेत्रों की ऐतिहासिक विरासत, सभ्यता, मानव जाति विज्ञान, कला और संस्कृति के संरक्षण और उनको सहेजने के लिए लोगों को जागरूक एवं प्रेरित करना है।

1948 Okram Ibobi Singh, Indian politician and Chief Minister of Manipur, was born. On the same day, the Soviet Union closed the roads leading to West Berlin.

1949 Syed Zafarul Hasan, a leading Muslim philosopher of the 20th century, passed away. He completed his education in Allahabad and obtained doctorates from Erlangen and Heidelberg, Germany and the University of Oxford. Hasan was the first Muslim scholar from the Indian subcontinent to receive a PhD in philosophy from Oxford.

1955 Mithu Mukherjee, a popular Bengali film actress who acted in films in several languages including Hindi, was born in Calcutta.

1961 Kuwait declares independence from England. Britain was the protectorate of Kuwait from 1899 to 1961. After independence, Sheikh Abdullah Al-Salim Al-Sabah became king.
