1831 अमेरिका के न्यूयार्क स्थित सिटी बैंक में पहली बैंक डकैती हुई जिसमें 245,000 डॉलर को लूटा गया।

1850 अमेरिकन एक्सप्रेस हेनरी वेल्स एंड विलियम फार्गो द्वारा स्थापित किया गया।

1866 मोनार्क लीवरपुल में घुसपैठियों से भरा जहाज डूबने से लगभग 750 लोगों की मौत हुई।

1876 1902 से 1928 तक भारतीय पुरातत्त्व सर्वेक्षण विभाग के महानिदेशक रहे जॉन मार्शल का जन्म हुआ।

1877 ऑस्ट्रेलिया ने पहले अंतरराष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट टेस्ट मैच में इंग्लैंड को 45 रनों से हराया।

1895 लूमियर्स ब्रदर्स ने अपने नए पैटेंट प्राप्त सिनेमेटोग्राफ से पहला फुटेज रिकॉर्ड किया। इसी दिन अमेरिका की फिल्म नगरी लॉस एंजिल्स में ट्राम रेल सेवा संचालन प्रारंभ हुआ।

1905 कुख्यात जर्मन फासीवादी नेता, हिटलर के मंत्री अल्बर्ट स्पीयर का जन्म मैनहिम, जर्मनी में हुआ।

1911 जर्मन समाजवादी राजनेत्री सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता और नारीवादी क्लारा जेटकिन ने पहला अंतर्राष्ट्रीय महिला दिवस आयोजित किया।

1914 चीन की समाजवादी क्रांति के नायक माओ त्से तुंग की पत्नी, कम्युनिस्ट नेत्री जियांग कुइंग का जन्म झुचेंग, शानडोंग में हुआ।

1920 अमेरिकी सीनेट ने लीग ऑफ नेशंस में शामिल होने पर मतदान किया।

1927 अमेरिका के विख्यात बेसबाल खिलाड़ी रिची ऐशबर्न का जन्म टिल्डेन, नेब्रास्का में हुआ। इसी दिन जर्मनी में नाजी और कम्युनिस्टों के बीच खूनी संघर्ष हुआ।

1932 सिडनी हार्बर ब्रिज ऑस्ट्रेलिया का एक प्रमुख स्थल, सिडनी, और दुनिया का सबसे ऊंचा स्टील आर्च ब्रिज खोला गया।

1938 बंबई फिल्म जगत की जानी मानी पटकथा लेखिका, निर्देशिका सई परांजपे का जन्म बंबई मे हुआ।

1939 जगदीप के नाम से विख्यात हिंदी फिल्मों के हास्य अभिनेता सैयद इस्तियाक अहमद जाफरी का मध्य प्रदेश के दतिया में जन्म हुआ। शोले फिल्म के अपने रोल सूरमा भोपाली के नाम से भी लोग उन्हें पुकारने लगे। पुराना मंदिर फिल्म में इनके किरदार का नाम मच्छर है। इसी दिन 1939 में मशहूर भारतीय क्रिकेटर अब्बास बेग का जन्म हैदराबाद में हुआ।

1944 आजाद हिंद फौज ने पूर्वोत्तर भारत में राष्ट्रीय ध्वज फहराया।

1952 यौन शोषण के गंभीर आरोपी अमेरिकी फिल्म निर्माता हार्वे वेनस्टीन का जन्म न्यू याॅर्क में हुआ।

1953 पहली बार एकेडमी अवार्ड समारोह का प्रसारण टेलीविजन पर हुआ।

1954 भारतीय शिक्षाविद इंदु शाहानी का जन्म हुआ।

1955 अरुणाचल प्रदेश के प्रमुख कांग्रेस राजनेता और मुख्यमंत्री रहे दोरजी खांडू का जन्म नाॅर्थ ईस्ट फ्रंटियर एजेंसी में हुआ।

1962 अत्यधिक प्रभावशाली अमेरिकी संगीतकार बॉब डायलन ने अपना पहला एल्बम जारी किया।

1965 इंडोनेशिया ने सभी विदेशी तेल कंपनियों का राष्ट्रीयकरण किया।

1970 पूर्वी और पश्चिमी जर्मनी के नेता 1949 में जर्मनी के विभाजन के बाद पहली बार मिले।

1972 भारत और बांग्लादेश के बीच मित्रता समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर हुए। 1971 के भारत-पाकिस्तान युद्ध के बाद एक नया देश बांग्लादेश बना था। बांग्लादेश के गठन के महज चार महीने बाद ही 19 मार्च 1972 को उसकी भारत से ऐतिहासिक संधि हुई थी। इस संधि में शांति, सहयोग, उपनिवेशवाद की निंदा और गुटनिरपेक्षता का जिक्र था। दोनों देशों ने इस बातचीत में एक दूसरे को कला, साहित्य और सांस्कृतिक क्षेत्रों में सहयोग करने का भी वादा किया।

1977 फ्रांस ने मुरूओरा द्वीप पर परमाणु परीक्षण किया। 1978 प्रसिद्ध स्वतंत्रता सेनानी एवं पूर्व लोकसभा अध्यक्ष एमए अय्यंगार का निधन हुआ। 1978 में इसी दिन लेबनान पर इजरायल के आक्रमण के जवाब में, संयुक्त राष्ट्र ने इजरायल से अपनी सेना को तुरंत वापस बुलाने के साथ लेबनान में संयुक्त राष्ट्र अंतरिम बल की स्थापना की।

1982 ब्रिटेन तथा सर्वोच्च इसाई धार्मिक निकाय वेटिकन सिटी के मध्य 400 वर्षों के अंतराल के बाद राजनयिक संबंध स्थापित हुए। इसी दिन भारत के चर्चित राजनेता जेबी कृपलानी का अहमदाबाद में निधन हुआ। इसी दिन अर्जेंटीना ने दक्षिणी जॉर्जिया में झंडा फहराया।

1984 फेमिना मिस इंडिया यूनिवर्स, जानी मानी, खूबसूरत, बोल्ड बाॅलीवुड एक्ट्रेस तनुश्री दत्ता का जमशेदपुर में जन्म हुआ। 2005 से 2009 के बीच उन्होंने आशिक बनाया आपने, भागमभाग और ढोल जैसी फिल्में की। यह 5 साल पहले मीटू अभियान में चर्चा में आईं। 1990 कनाडा की राजधानी ओटावा में महिलाओं की पहली विश्व आइस हॉकी प्रतियोगिता आयोजित हुई।

1994 जापान के योकोहामा में एक लाख 60 हजार अंडों से विश्व का सबसे बड़ा 1383 वर्गफुट आकार का आमलेट तैयार किया गया।

1996 बोस्निया हर्जेगोविना की राजधानी सरायेवो का फिर से एकीकरण हुआ। इसी दिन विनी मंडेला ने शादी के 38 साल बाद दक्षिण अफ्रीका के नेता नेल्सन मंडेला को तलाक दिया।

1998 विख्यात भारतीय मार्क्सवादी कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी के वरिष्ठ नेता एवं भारत की पहली गैरकांग्रेसी राज्य सरकार के मुख्यमंत्री इएमएस नम्बूदरीपाद का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन अटल बिहारी वाजपेयी दूसरी बार प्रधानमंत्री बने।

1999 यूरोपीय आयोग के अध्यक्ष जैकस सांटर ने अपने पद से इस्तीफा दिया।

2001 ब्रिटेन के उच्च सदन ने संगीतकार नदीम के प्रत्यर्पण का प्रस्ताव ठुकराया।

2004 अमेरिका ने विश्व व्यापार संगठन में पहली बार चीन के खिलाफ मुकदमा दर्ज कराया।

2005 पाकिस्तान ने शाहीन द्वितीय प्रक्षेपास्त्र का सफल परीक्षण किया।

2007 पाकिस्तान की चर्चित सामाजिक कार्यकत्री मुख्तारन माई को यूरोपीय परिषद का मानवाधिकार सम्मान प्रदान किया गया।

2008 डोनकुपर रॉय ने मेघालय के नये मुख्यमंत्री पद की शपथ ली। इसी दिन 2008 में पाकिस्तान के राष्ट्रपति जनरल परवेज मुशर्रफ ने सरबजीत की फांसी 30 अप्रैल, 2008 तक रोकी।

2011 विख्यात बॉलीवुड फिल्म अभिनेता नवीन निश्चल का निधन मुंबई में हुआ। इनका लाहौर (अब पाकिस्तान) में 1946 की 18 मार्च को जन्म हुआ था।

2011 लीबिया के गृहयुद्ध के बीच फ्रांसीसी वायु सेना ने ओपेरेशन हार्मट्टन का शुभारंभ किया, जिसमें लीबिया में विदेशी सैन्य हस्तक्षेप की शुरुआत हुई।

2013 महाराष्ट्र में बस दुर्घटना में लगभग 30 लोग मरे। इसी दिन पोप फ्रांसिस के पदारूढ़ होने का समारोह रोम, इटली में सेंट पीटर स्क्वायर में आयोजित किया गया। 

2014 फ्लैपी बर्ड ऐप के निर्माता, डोंग गुयेन ने घोषणा की कि वह भविष्य में ऐप को फिर से तैयार करेंगे। उन्होंने फरवरी में यह आरोप लगने पर कि यूजर्स को इसकी नशे की भांति लत लग जाती है ऐप को इंटरनेट से हटा दिया।

2015 प्रसिद्ध भाषा चिंतक और शिक्षाविद सूरजभान सिंह का निधन हुआ।

2018 ज्ञानपीठ पुरस्कार प्राप्त हिंदी के सुप्रसिद्ध कवि केदारनाथ सिंह का दिल्ली में निधन हुआ।
