1238 मंगोलों ने दक्षिण-पश्चिम में जाकर रूस के व्लादिमीर और कोजेलस्क के शहरों को जलाकर नष्ट कर दिया। उन्होंने पेरेयास्लाव और चेर्निहाइव दोनों पर कब्जा कर लिया।

1265 अजरबेजान और ईरान के क्षेत्र में इलखानी साम्राज्य के संस्थापक हुए हलाकू खान या हुलागू खान का इंतकाल हुआ। इलखानी साम्राज्य मंगोल साम्राज्य का भाग था।

1575 नीदरलैंड के सबसे पुराने विश्वविद्यालय लीडेन यूनिवर्सिटी को प्रिंस ऑफ ऑरेंज विलियम ने लीडेन शहर में स्थापित करवाया।

1587 स्कॉट्स की रानी मैरी को उसके चचेरे भाई की हत्या करने के आरोप में बेथिंगटन प्लॉट में फॉरथिंग कैसल फॉरेस्टर में फांसी दी गई।

1724 रूस के राजा पीटर द ग्रेट ने पत्नी कैथरीन प्रथम को जारीना यानी घोषित किया। एक साल के भीतर ही पीटर की मौत हो गई और ठीक 8 फरवरी 1725 को कैथरीन ने राजा की जगह खुद को रूस की साग्राज्ञी घोषित कर दिया। माना यह भी जाता है कि पीटर की मौत के पीछे जारीना कैथरीन का हाथ था। वह बेहद महत्वाकांक्षी थी और खुद सत्ता की बागडोर अपने हाथ में लेना चाहती थी।

1726 सत्ता के संचालन, नितियों के निर्धारण इत्यादि के लिए सुप्रीम प्रीवी परिषद रूस में स्थापित किया गया।

1785 भारत में 1774 से 1785 तक ब्रिटिश गर्वनर जनरल रहे वारेन हेस्टिंग्स भारत छोड़ और इंग्लैंड वापस लौटे।

1802 अमरिकन घड़ी निर्माता साइमन विलार्ड ने बैंजो घड़ी का पेटेंट किया।

1865 पहली बार अमेरिकी सेना में किसी अश्वेत मार्टिन रॉबिसन डेलने को मेजर बनाया गया।

1872 अंडमान जेल सेल्यूलर जेल या कालापानी में स्वतंत्रता सेनानी शेर अली ने अंग्रेज गवर्नर पर जानलेवा हमला किया।

1879 कनाडा में रॉयल कैनेडियन इंस्टीट्यूट की एक बैठक में, इंजीनियर और आविष्कारक सैंडफोर्ड फ्लेमिंग ने पहली बार विश्वव्यापी मान समय क्षेत्रों को एकल सार्वभौमिक विश्व समय के आधार पर अपनाने का प्रस्ताव रखा।

1897 स्वतंत्रता सेनानी, विद्वान और भारत के तीसरे राष्ट्रपति हुए डॉ. जाकिर हुसैन का जन्म हैदराबाद में हुआ। अपना कार्यकाल पूरा करने से पहले ही वे दुनिया-ए-फानी को अलविदा कह गये। उनका विद्यर्थियों को संदेश था कि एक छात्र के जीवन का उद्देश्य किसी भी भ्रम या पूर्वाग्रहों से उबरना और उसकी बुरी आदतों को छोड़ देना चाहिए, उसे अपने अनपढ़ भाइयों के बीच शिक्षा का प्रचार प्रसार करना और शिक्षा के प्रचार प्रसार को अपनी शिक्षा का हिस्सा मानना चाहिए।

1905 हैती और आस पास के द्वीप समूहों पर आये जबरदस्त चक्रवाती तूफान से दस हजार लोगों की मौत हुई।

1909 देश फ्रांस और जर्मनी के बीच मोरक्को संधि पर हस्ताक्षर किये गये।

1921 मद्रास उच्च न्यायालय के मुख्य न्यायाधीश और तमिल नाडु के कार्यवाहक राज्यपाल रहे एमएम इस्माइल का जन्म हुआ।

1922 अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति भवन ह्वाइट हाउस ने रोडियो का उपयोग शुरू किया।

1924 जाने माने भारतीय कारोबारी, बैंकों का कई हजार करोड़ रुपया मार कर इंग्लैंड जा बसे, बहुविवादित नेता विजय माल्या के पिता कारोबारी विट्ठल माल्या का जन्म कर्नाटक के बंतवाल में हुआ।

1938 जाने माने भारतीय कारोबारी और दवा निर्माता कंपनी लुपिन के मालिक देश बंधू गुप्ता का जन्म रायगढ़ में हुआ।

1939 भारत के बारहवें मुख्य निर्वाचन आयुक्त जेम्स माइकल लिंगदोह का जन्म हुआ।

1940 जाने माने उर्दू शायर ज़ाहिद हुसैन यानी वसीम बरेलवी का जन्म बरेली, उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ।

1941 भारत के मशहूर ग़ज़ल गायक, संगीतकार और गीतकार जगजीत सिंह का जन्म श्रीगंगानगर, राजस्थान में हुआ।

1943 स्वतंत्रता सेनानी सुभाष चंद्र बोस जर्मनी के केल से एक नौका के जरिये जापान के लिये रवाना हुये।

1951 हास्य सम्राट कहे गये काका हाथरसी के दामाद हास्य व्यंग्य कवि अशोक चक्रधर का जन्म खुर्जा, उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ।

1963 विख्यात भारतीय क्रिकेटर मोहम्मद अजहरुद्दीन का जन्म हैदराबाद में हुआ।

1964 मलयालम और तमिल सिनेमा के जाने माने सिनेमाटोग्राफर और निर्देशक संतोष शिवन का जन्म हरिपद में हुआ।

1968 मिस इंडिया यूनिवर्स 1988, जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड माॅडल, फिल्म अभिनेत्री डाॅली मट्टू मिन्हास का जन्म चंडीगढ़ में हुआ।

1971 अमेरिका के न्यू याॅर्क में दुनिया के पहले इलेक्ट्रॉनिक शेयर बाजार नैस्डैक की शुरुआत हुई। इसी दिन दक्षिणी वियतनामी सेना ने लाओस पर हमला किया।

1978 जाने माने खान पान विशेषज्ञ, शेफ, लेखक, टेलीविजन शो प्रस्तोता ओर रेस्तरां संचालक रणवीर सिंह बराड़ का जन्म लखनऊ में हुआ। इसी दिन अमेरिकी सीनेट की कार्यवाही को पहली बार रेडियो पर प्रसारित किया गया।

1980 जाने माने फिल्म अभिनेता जगदीश अहलावत का जन्म रोहतक, हरियाणा में हुआ।

1986 दिल्ली हवाई अड्डे पर पहली बार प्रीपेड टैक्सी सेवा शुरु की गई।

1988 स्टार प्लस के लोकप्रिय धारावाहिक साथ निभाना साथिया की नायिका राशि शाह मोदी और जानी मानी माॅडल, टेलीविजन और फिल्म अभिनेत्री रुचा हसबनीस का जन्म मुंबई में हुआ। उन्होंने कारोबारी राजू जगदाले से विवाह कर मनोरंजन, ग्लैमर जगत में काम करना छोड़ दिया।

1988 बाॅलीवुड की जानी मानी बोल्ड अभिनेत्री, उद्यमी, नर्तकी, अभिनेत्री, माॅडल और सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता इशिता शर्मा का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1990 प्यार का पंचनामा इत्यादि फिल्मों से पहचान बनाने वाली जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड फिल्म अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल इशिता राज शर्मा का जन्म मुंबई में हुआ।

1990 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड भोजपुरी फिल्म अभिनेत्री तथा माॅडल पूनम दुबे का जन्म इलाहाबाद, उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ। इसी दिन जानी मानी टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री तथा माॅडल जयश्री सोनी का जन्म जयपुर में हुआ।

1993 जाने माने भारतीय फुटबाल खिलाड़ी जाॅनी सिंह का जन्म हुआ।

1994 प्रख्यात भारतीय क्रिकेटर कपिल देव ने टेस्ट मैचों में 432 विकेट लेकर रिचर्ड हैडली के सबसे अधिक विकेट लेने के विश्व रिकार्ड को ध्वस्त किया।

1997 खूबसूरत, बोल्ड, लोकप्रिय मलयालम फिल्म अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल अनारकली मैरीकर का जन्म कोच्चि में हुआ।

1998 ओलंपिक इतिहास में पहली महिला आइस हॉकी खेल में फिनलैंड ने स्वीडन को लगभग 6-8 अंकों से हराया।

1999 अमेरिकी अंतरिक्ष यान स्टारडस्ट केनेडी अंतरिक्ष केंद्र से रवाना हुआ।

2002 भारत तथा रूस के बीच चार रक्षा समझौते सम्पन्न, विमानवाहक पोत गोर्शकोव का सौदा अटका। अमेरिका के साल्ट लेक सिटी में 19वें शीतकालीन ओलंपिक खेल शुरु।

2005 इजरायल और फिलिस्तीन के बीच शर्म अल शेख (मिस्र) शिखर सम्मेलन में हिंसा समाप्त करने की घोषणा हुई।

2006 सिओल में भारत और दक्षिण कोरिया के बीच तीन समझौते सम्पन्न।

2007 भूटान नरेश जिग्मे खेसर नामग्याल भारत आये।

2008 बैंगलौर के इंडियन इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ साइंस के वरिष्ठ वैज्ञानिक शांतनु भट्टाचार्य को घनश्याम दास. बिड़ाला पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया। इसी दिन उत्तर प्रदेश विधान मंडल का बजट सत्र प्रारंभ हुआ। इसी दिन उड़ीसा के शिशुपालगढ़ में खुदाई के दौरान 2500 वर्ष पुराना शहर मिला। इसी दिन अमेरिका में राष्ट्रपति पद के लिए हुए चुनाव में जॉन मैक्केन को रिपब्लिकन पार्टी का उम्मीदवार घोषित किया गया। इसी दिन अमेरिका के अंतरिक्ष यान अटलांटिस को फ्लोरिडा के केनवाल से अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अंतरिक्ष केन्द्र के लिए सफलतापूर्वक रवाना किया गया।

2009 हजारों पूर्व सैनिकों ने सरकार की बेरुखी से क्षुब्ध होकर अपने पदक राष्ट्रपति को लौटाए।

2010 श्रीनगर के पास खिलनमर्ग क्षेत्र में हिमस्खलन में सेना के हाई एल्टीट्यूड वारफेयर स्कूल के 350 जवान बर्फ के नीचे दब गए। इनमें से 70 सैनिकों को सुरक्षित निकाल लिया गया जबकि 11 सैनिकों के शव निकाले गए।

2014 सऊदी अरब के मदीना शहर में एक होटल में आग के कारण 15 लोगों की मौत और 130 लोग घायल हुए।
