241 ईसा पूर्व 10 मार्च को प्रथम प्यूनिक युद्ध के दौरान एगेट्स की लड़ाई में रोमनों ने कार्थाजियन सैन्य बेड़े को डुबो दिया, जिससे प्रथम प्यूनिक युद्ध समाप्त हो गया।

298 इस्वी में 10 मार्च को रोमन सम्राट मैक्सिमियन ने उत्तरी अफ्रीका में अपना विजय अभियान पूर्ण करते हुए कार्थेज में प्रवेश किया।

947 लेटर हान की स्थापना लियू जियुआन ने की स्वयं को सम्राट घोषित किया।

1496 सैंटो डोमिंगो शहर की स्थापना करने के बाद क्रिस्टोफर कोलंबस ने अपने भाई को कमान सौंप कर स्पेन के लिए प्रस्थान किया।

1535 पनामा के चतुर्थ बिशप, स्पैनियार्ड फ्रे टॉमस डी बर्लंगा ने पेरू के रास्ते में संयोग से गैलापागोस द्वीप समूह की खोज की।

1607 सुसेनियोस प्रथम ने गोज्जम में गोल के युद्ध में याकूब और अबुना पेट्रोस द्वितीय की संयुक्त सेना को हरा कर खुद को इथियोपिया का सम्राट बनाया।

1624 इंग्लैंड ने स्पेन के खिलाफ युद्ध की घोषणा की।

1629 चार्ल्स प्रथम ने इंग्लैंड की संसद भंग कर व्यक्तिगत शासन की शुरुआत की जो ग्यारह वर्ष चला।

1661 फ्रांसीसी सन किंग लुई 14वें ने अपने प्रधानमंत्री कार्डिनल माजरीन की मृत्यु के बाद फ्रांस पर अपना व्यक्तिगत शासन शुरू किया।

1735 नादिर शाह और रूस के बीच गंजा के पास एक समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए गए जिसके तहत अजरबैजान और रूसी सेना कब्जे वाले क्षेत्रों से वापस ले ली गई।

1762 फ्रांसीसी हुगुएनॉट जीन कैलास को अपने बेटे की हत्या के लिए गलत तरीके से दोषी ठहराया गया और अधिकारियों द्वारा प्रताड़ित किए जाने के बाद वे मर गए। इस घटना ने विख्यात दार्शनिक, इतिहासकार, आलोचक वोल्टेयर (फ्रांकोइस-मैरी अरोएट) को धार्मिक सहिष्णुता और कानूनी सुधार के लिए एक अभियान शुरू करने के लिए प्रेरित किया। उन्होंने अभियान छेड़ दिया। लोग साथ आते गये और कारवां बनता गया।

1801 ब्रिटेन में प्रथम जनगणना हुई। इसका संबंध लोगों की संख्या, उनके व्यवसाय और प्रत्येक घर में परिवारों की संख्या से था।

1847 अमेरिका के हवाई में पहले सिक्के की ढलाई की गई। यह तांबे के सेंट के सिक्के थे जिन पर राजा कामेहामेहा तृतीय का चित्र था। राजा की खराब गुणवत्ता वाली छवि के कारण सिक्के अलोकप्रिय साबित हुए।

1861 विश्व प्रसिद्ध कनाडाई कवियत्री, लेखिका, मंचीय कलाकार एमिली पाउलीन जॉन्सन का जन्म हुआ। वे रेड इंडियन जाति के उस समुदाय में जन्मी जिसे अमरीका से उस दौर में जबरन कनाडा विस्थापित होना पड़ा था, जब यूरोपीय देश अमेरिकी धरती पर मूल निवासी रेड इंडियंस का दमन कर रहे थे।

1862 ब्रिटेन और फ्रांस ने जांजीबार की आजादी को मान्यता दी।

1873 स्वतंत्रता सेनानी शौकत अली का जन्म रामपुर, उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ। यह स्वतंत्रता सेनानी और सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता मोहम्मद अली जौहर के भाई थे। 1873 में इसी दिन पहला अजरबैजानी नाटक अखुंडोव द्वारा तैयार द एडवेंचर्स ऑफ द विजियर ऑफ द खान ऑफ लेनकरन को हसन-बे जरदाबी और नजफ-बे वेजिरोव ने प्रस्तुत किया।

1876 अमरीकी आविष्कारक एलेक्जेंडर ग्राहम बेल ने अपने बनाए टेलीफोन पर पहली बार बात की, अपने सहयोगी थाॅमस अगस्टस वाटसन से कहा, मेरी आवाज सुनो, मैं एलेक्जेंडर ग्राहम बेल।

1891 एल्मन स्ट्रोगर ने स्ट्रोगर स्विच का पेटेंट कराया। इस उपकरण टेलीफोन सर्किट स्विचिंग का स्वचालन शुरु हुआ।

1893 आइवरी कोस्ट फ्रेंच सम्राज्य का हिस्सा बना।

1897 भारत में नारी शिक्षा की प्रणेता, प्रथम महिला शिक्षिका, कवियत्री सामाजिक कार्यकत्री सावित्रीबाई फुले का निधन हुआ। 

1910 चीन गणराज्य ने आधिकारिक तौर पर गुलामी को समाप्त कर दिया।

1911 भारत के प्रमुख बैंकर, आर्थिक मामलों के विशेषज्ञ और लेखक तथा आईसीआईसीआई बैंक यानी इंडस्ट्रियल क्रेडिट एंड इन्वेस्टमेंट कारपोरेश आॅफ इंडिया के निर्माण और संचालन में अहम भूमिका निभाने वाले हसमुखभाई पारेख या हसमुख ठाकोरदास पारेख का जन्म सूरत में हुआ।

1915 प्रथम विश्वयुद्ध में मरणोपरांत विक्टोरिया क्रॉस पाने वाले ब्रिटिश भारतीय सेना के जवान गबर सिंह नेगी का निधन हुआ।

1917 विख्यात सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता, दलित अधिकारवादी पेरियार ईवी रामास्वामी की दूसरी पत्नी सामाजिक और राजनीतिक कार्यकता मनिअम्मई का जन्म वेलूर में हुआ।

1922 महात्मा गांधी को गिरफ्तार किया गया, उन पर राजद्रोह का मुकदमा चला और छह साल जेल की सजा सुनाई गई, लेकिन अपेंडिसाइटिस के ऑपरेशन के लिए लगभग दो साल बाद उन्हें रिहा किया गया।

1929 विख्यात मराठी कवि, लेखक, चिंतक, साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कार एवं पद्मभूषण सम्मान प्राप्त मंगेश पडगांवकर का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन मिस्र की सरकार ने महिलाओं को तलाक के सशर्त सीमित अधिकार दिए।

1932 अंतरिक्ष वैज्ञानिक और इसरो (भारतीय अंतरिक्ष अनुसंधान संगठन) के अध्यक्ष उडुपी रामचंद्र राव का जन्म हुआ।

1933 जर्मनी का चांसलर बनने के बाद एडोल्फ हिटलर ने दचाऊ में पहले यातना ग्रह की स्थापना करवाई। इसमें यातनाओं, कुपोषण, घायलों-बीमारों को चिकित्सा सुविधा न मिलने के कारण करीब 32,000 लोग मारे गये।

1934 भारत के जाने-माने सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता लल्लन प्रसाद व्यास का जन्म हुआ।

1939 भारत के हैदराबाद में भयंकर ओलावृष्टि से 17 गाँव बुरी तरह क्षतिग्रस्त हो गए।

1942 साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कार प्राप्त विख्यात बांग्ला साहित्यकार समरेश मजूमदार का जन्म जलपाईगुड़ी में हुआ।

1943 प्रसिद्ध थिएटर कलाकार और कास्टिंग डायरेक्टर डाॅली ठाकोर का जन्म हुआ।

1945 ग्वालियर राजघराने में माधवराव सिंधिया का जन्म हुआ। वे कांग्रेस के प्रसिद्ध नेता हुए। इसी दिन जापान ने वियतनाम को स्वतंत्र देश घोषित किया। इसी दिन 1945 में द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध के दौरान अमरीकी युद्धक विमानों ने जापान की राजधानी टोक्यो पर भीषण बमबारी की। जिससे लगभग 1 लाख आम नागरिक मारे गये।

1949 हिंदी एवं भोजपुरी फिल्मों की जानी मानी अभिनेत्री, नर्तकी और निर्देशिका पद्मा खन्ना का जन्म वाराणसी में हुआ। इसी दिन रामपुर उत्तर प्रदेश के चर्चित समाजवादी पार्टी नेता आज़म खान की पत्नी, विधायक और राज्य सभा सदस्य रहीं ताज़ीन फातमा का जन्म हुआ।

1957 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय भौतिकी एवं ब्रह्माड वैज्ञानिक तनु पद्मनाभन का जन्म तिरुअनंतपुरम में हुआ।

1959 पुणे विश्व विद्यालय के प्रथम कुलपति, स्वतंत्रता सेनानी, कानूनविद और विद्वान मुकुंद रामाराव जयकर का निधन हुआ।

1966 प्रसिद्ध टेलीविजन अभिनेता, चंद्रकांता, द ग्रेट मराठा आदि लोकप्रिय धारावाहिकों में प्रमुख भूमिकाएं अदा करने वाले शाहबाज खान का जन्म इंदौर में हुआ।

1969 प्रख्यात मानवाधिकारवादी मार्टिन लूथर किंग के हत्यारे जेम्स अर्ल रे को मेम्फिस की एक अदालत ने 99 साल कैद की सजा सुनाई थी। रे ने अपना गुनाह इस शर्त पर कबूल किया था कि उसे मौत की सजा नहीं दी जाएगी। अहिंसा की बात करने वाले मार्टिन लूथर किंग की हत्या अप्रैल 1968 में हुई थी।

1970 जम्मू एवं कश्मीर के मुख्यमंत्री रहे और नेशनल कॉन्फ्रेंस के अध्यक्ष उमर अब्दुल्ला का जन्म हुआ । उमर के पिता फारुख और दादा शेख अब्दुला भी जम्मू कश्मीर के मुख्यमंत्री रहे हैं।

1973 बरमूडा में ब्रिटिश गवर्नर सर रिचर्डस शार्पल्स और उनके सहयोगी कैप्टन ह्यूज सेअर्स की गोली मारकर हत्या कर दी गई।

1981 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय चित्रकार, मूर्तिकार और अंतरराष्ट्रीय ख्याति प्राप्त आयरन नेल आर्टिस्ट, पेटेंट धारक तथा आविष्कारक वाजिद खान का जन्म हुआ।

1977 यूरेनस ग्रह के चारों तरफ रिंग्स की खोज हुई।

1985 भारत ने बेंशन एंड हेजेज क्रिकेट विश्वकप जीता। 1985 में इसी दिन रूसी सैनिक, राजनीतिज्ञ, सोवियत संघ के प्रमुख यानी राष्ट्रपति कॉन्स्तांतिन चेरनेंको का निधन हुआ। इसके बाद सोवियत कम्युनिस्ट पार्टी के महासचिव मिखाइल गोर्बाच्योब राष्ट्रपति बने।

1987 जाने माने हिंदी तथा मराठी फिल्म अभिनेता एवं माॅडल चिराग पाटिल का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1990 तमिल, तेलुगू आदि दक्षिण भारतीय सिनेमा की खूबसूरत, जानी मानी बोल्ड अभिनेत्री तथा माॅडल रितु वर्मा का जन्म हैदराबाद में हुआ।

1998 31 साल से ज्यादा वक्त तक इंडोनेशिया के राष्ट्रपति रहने वाले सुहार्तो लगातार सातवीं और आखिरी बार राष्ट्रपति चुने गए।

2002 फिलिस्तीन के राष्ट्रपति यासर अराफात के आने-जाने पर लगा प्रतिबंध हटाया गया।

2003 उत्तर कोरिया ने क्रूज मिसाइल का परीक्षण किया।

2005 हांगकांग के पहले मुख्य कार्यकारी तुंग चे-ह्वा ने व्यापक जनअसंतोष के बाद अपने इस्तीफे की घोषणा की।

2006 पाकिस्तान के क्वेटा शहर में बारूदी सुरंग विस्फोट में 26 लोग मारे गये। इसी दिन अमेरिकी अंतरिक्ष एजेंसी नासा का मार्स रिकॉनेसेंस ऑर्बिटर मंगल ग्रह की कक्षा में पहुंचा और इस ग्रह पर पानी की खोज शुरू की।

2007 यूक्रेन के वैसिलीइवानचुक को हराकर विश्वनाथन आनंद शतरंज में प्रथम स्थान पर पहुँचे।

2008 विधान सभा चुनाव में जीत के बाद वामपंथी मोर्चे के नेता माणिक सरकार मुख्यमंत्री चुने गये। इसी दिन वरिष्ठ काँग्रेस नेता डी. डी. लपांग ने मेघालय के मुख्यमंत्री पद की शपथ ली। इसी दिन मलेशिया के अब्दुल्ला बदावी दोबारा प्रधानमंत्री बनें।

2010 भारतीय संसद के ऊपरी सदन राज्यसभा में महिला आरक्षण विधेयक पारित हुआ।

2012 विख्यात फ्रांसीसी हास्य कलाकार जीन जिराउद का 73 वर्ष की आयु में निधन हुआ। वह ब्लूबेरी के निर्माता और कई लोकप्रिय विज्ञान-कथा कॉमिक्स के रचयिता थे। इसी दिन 2012 में फ्रैंक शेरवुड रोलैंड, अमेरिकी रसायनज्ञ और अकादमिक, नोबेल पुरस्कार विजेता का निधन हुआ।

2013 प्रिंसेस लिलियन, डचेस ऑफ हॉलैंड, ब्रिटिश मूल की स्वीडिश राजकुमारी का निधन हुआ।

2015 रिचर्ड ग्लैटजर, अमेरिकी निर्देशक, निर्माता और पटकथा लेखक का निधन हुआ।

2016 केन एडम, जर्मन-अंग्रेजी प्रोडक्शन डिजाइनर और कला निर्देशक, रॉबर्टो परफ्यूमो, अर्जेंटीना के फुटबॉलर और स्पोर्ट्सकास्टर, जोविटो सालोंगा, फिलिपिनो वकील और राजनीतिज्ञ, फिलीपींस की सीनेट के 14वें राष्ट्रपति एवं अनीता ब्रुकनर, अंग्रेजी उपन्यासकार और कला इतिहासकार का निधन हुआ।

2017 घोटाले के आरोप झेल रही दक्षिण कोरिया की राष्ट्रपति पार्क ग्यून-हे पर महाभियोग चलाने की संसद की कार्रवाई को संवैधानिक न्यायालय ने सही ठहराया, जिसके बाद ग्यून-हे को राष्ट्रपति छोड़ना पड़ा।

2018 महारानी अहिल्याबाई होल्कर सम्मान प्राप्त छत्तीसगढ़ की विख्यात भरतरी गायिका सुरुज बाई खांडे का निधन हुआ।

2019 इथियोपियाई एयरलाइंस की उड़ान 302, बोइंग 737 मैक्स दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हुआ। इस कारण दुनिया भर में सभी 737 मैक्स विमान उड़ान से हटाकर खड़े कर दिए गए।

2020 रूसी संसद के निचले सदन ने व्लादिमीर पुतिन को जीवन भर राष्ट्रपति पद पर बने रहने की अनुमति देने के लिए कानून पारित किया।

2022 ऑक्सफोर्ड, ऑक्सफोर्डशायर, इंग्लैंड में सर जॉन हक्सटेबल इलियट (जन्म 23 जून 1930) का निधन हुआ। प्रसिद्ध ब्रिटिश इतिहासकार और हिस्पैनिस्ट थे, जो ऑक्सफोर्ड विश्वविद्यालय में रेगियस प्रोफेसर और ओरियल कॉलेज, ऑक्सफोर्ड और ट्रिनिटी के मानद फेलो हुए। उन्होंने अपना नाम जे. एच. इलियट आगे बढ़ाया।

2023 अमेरिकी इतिहास में दूसरी सबसे बड़ी बैंक विफलता में, सिलिकॉन वैली बैंक अपनी जमा राशि में कमी के कारण ढह गया। इसका संचालन एफडीआईसी द्वारा अपने हाथ में ले लिया गया है।

1496 After establishing the city of Santo Domingo, Christopher Columbus left for Spain, handing over the command to his brother.

1535 The Spaniard Fray Tomás de Berlanga, IV Bishop of Panama, discovered the Galapagos Islands by chance on his way to Peru.

1607 Susenios I defeats the combined forces of Yakub and Abuna Petros II at the Battle of Gol in Gojjam and makes himself Emperor of Ethiopia.

1624 England declares war against Spain.

1629 Charles I dissolves the Parliament of England and begins personal rule, which lasts for eleven years.

1661 French King Louis XIV begins his personal rule over France following the death of his prime minister, Cardinal Mazarin.

1847 The first coin was minted in Hawaii, America. These were copper cent coins bearing the portrait of King Kamehameha III. The coins proved unpopular due to the poor quality image of the king.

1861 World famous Canadian poet, writer, stage artist Emily Pauline Johnson was born. She was born in a community of Red Indians who were forced to migrate from America to Canada at a time when European countries were suppressing the indigenous Red Indians on American soil.

1862 Britain and France recognized the independence of Zanzibar.

1873 Freedom fighter Shaukat Ali was born in Rampur, Uttar Pradesh. He was the brother of freedom fighter and social worker Mohammad Ali Johar. On this day in 1873, the first Azerbaijani play, The Adventures of the Vizier of the Khan of Lankaran, prepared by Akhundov, was performed by Hasan-bey Zardabi and Najaf-bey Vezirov.

1876 American inventor Alexander Graham Bell spoke for the first time on the telephone he created, saying to his colleague Thomas Augustus Watson, Hear my voice, I Alexander Graham Bell.

1891 Elman Stroger patents the Stroger switch. This equipment began the automation of telephone circuit switching.

1893 Ivory Coast becomes part of the French Empire.

1897 Savitribai Phule, the pioneer of women's education in India, the first woman teacher, poet and social activist passed away.

1922 Mahatma Gandhi is arrested, tried for treason and sentenced to six years in prison, but is released after about two years for an operation on appendicitis.

1929 Mangesh Padgaonkar, famous Marathi poet, writer, thinker, recipient of Sahitya Akademi Award and Padma Bhushan, was born. On this day, the Egyptian government gave women conditional limited rights of divorce.

1932 Udupi Ramachandra Rao, space scientist and Chairman of ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation), was born.

1933 After becoming Chancellor of Germany, Adolf Hitler established the first torture planet in Dachau. About 32,000 people died due to torture, malnutrition, and lack of medical care for the injured and sick.

1934 India's well-known social worker Lallan Prasad Vyas was born.

1939: 17 villages are badly damaged due to severe hailstorm in Hyderabad, India.

Famous Bengali litterateur Samaresh Majumdar, who received the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1942, was born in Jalpaiguri.

1943 Famous theater artist and casting director Dolly Thakor was born.

1945 Madhavrao Scindia was born in Gwalior royal family. He became a famous leader of Congress. On the same day, Japan declared Vietnam an independent country. On this day in 1945, during World War II, American war planes carried out a massive bombing of Tokyo, the capital of Japan. Due to which about 1 lakh civilians were killed.

1949 Padma Khanna, a well-known actress, dancer and director of Hindi and Bhojpuri films, was born in Varanasi. On this day, Tazeen Fatma, wife of the famous Samajwadi Party leader of Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, Azam Khan, MLA and Rajya Sabha member, was born.

1957 Famous Indian physicist and cosmologist Tanu Padmanabhan was born in Thiruvananthapuram.

1959 Mukund Rama Rao Jayakar, the first Vice-Chancellor of Pune University, freedom fighter, jurist and scholar, passed away.

1966 Shahbaz Khan, famous television actor, who played lead roles in popular serials like Chandrakanta, The Great Maratha etc., was born in Indore.

1969 James Earl Ray, the assassin of renowned human rights activist Martin Luther King, was sentenced to 99 years in prison by a Memphis court. Ray had confessed to his crime on the condition that he would not be given the death penalty. Martin Luther King, who spoke of non-violence, was assassinated in April 1968.

1970 Omar Abdullah, former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and President of the National Conference, was born. Omar's father Farooq and grandfather Sheikh Abdullah have also been Chief Ministers of Jammu and Kashmir.

1973 British Governor Sir Richards Sharples and his aide Captain Hughes Sayers were shot dead in Bermuda.

1981 Wajid Khan, famous Indian painter, sculptor and internationally renowned iron nail artist, patent holder and inventor, was born.

1977 Rings were discovered around the planet Uranus.

1985 India won the Benton & Hedges Cricket World Cup. On this day in 1985, Russian soldier, politician, head of the Soviet Union i.e. President Konstantin Chernenko passed away. After this, Mikhail Gorbachev, General Secretary of the Soviet Communist Party, became President.

1987: Well-known Hindi and Marathi film actor and model Chirag Patil was born in Bombay.

1990 Ritu Verma, a beautiful, well-known bold actress and model of Tamil, Telugu etc. South Indian cinema, was born in Hyderabad.

1998 Suharto, who was the President of Indonesia for more than 31 years, was elected President for the seventh and last consecutive time.

2002 The ban on the travel of Palestine President Yasser Arafat was lifted.

2003 North Korea tests cruise missile.
