438 रोमन सम्राट थियोडोसियस द्वितीय ने कानून कोडेक्स थियोडोसियनस प्रकाशित किया। 26 मार्च 429 को उनके सह-सम्राट वैलेन्टिनियन लिखित 15 फरवरी 438 के संविधान द्वारा अनुमोदित किया गया था। यह 1 जनवरी 439 को साम्राज्य के पूर्वी और पश्चिमी हिस्सों में लागू हुआ। इसमें राज्य संचालन के तमाम प्रावधान थे।

590 खोसरो द्वितीय की फारस के राजा के तौर पर ताजपोशी हुई।

706 बीजान्टिन सम्राट जस्टिनियन द्वितीय ने अपने पूर्ववर्तियों लिओन्टियोस और तिबेरियोस तृतीय को कॉन्स्टेंटिनोपल के हिप्पोड्रोम में सार्वजनिक रूप से मार डाला।

1002 लोम्बार्ड रईसों की एक सभा मं, इव्रिया के अर्डुइन को उनके पद पर बहाल करते हुए इटली के राजा का ताज पहनाया गया।

1113 पोप पास्कल द्वितीय ने हॉस्पीटलर्स के आदेश को मान्यता देते हुए पाई पोस्टुलैटियो वॉलंटैटिस राजाज्ञा जारी की।

1214 अंग्रेज - फ्रांसीसी युद्ध (1213-1214) के दौरान इंग्लैंड के राजा जॉन के नेतृत्व में एक अंग्रेजी आक्रमण बल फ्रांस के ला रोशेल में पहुंचा।

1493 जहाज नीना पर यात्रा के दौरान इतालवी खोजी क्रिस्टोफर कोलंबस ने एक खुला पत्र लिखा (पुर्तगाल लौटने पर व्यापक रूप से वितरित) जिसमें उन्होंने अपनी खोजों और नई दुनिया में उनके सामने आई अप्रत्याशित वस्तुओं का वर्णन किया।

1564 महान खगोलशास्त्री गैलीलियो गैलिली का जन्म इटली के पीसा नामक कस्बे में हुआ। उन्होंने ही बताया कि पृथ्वी सूर्य के चक्कर लगाती है। सूर्य पृथ्वी के चक्कर नहीं लगाता। जबकि तब दुनिया में यह माना जाता था कि सूर्य पृथ्वी के चक्कर लगाता है। पृथ्वी सूर्य के चक्कर लगाती है यह बताने पर धार्मिक और तथाकथित भद्रलोग कुपित हो गये। रोम की अदालत में उन पर मुकदमा चला और उन्हें सफाई देने के लिए अदालत बुलाया गया। रोम पहुंचने पर गैलीलियो को 13 फरवरी 1633 को गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया।

1638 मुगल बादशाह औरंगजेब की बेटी जेब-उन-निसा का जन्म हुआ। जेब औरंगजेब राज में महत्वपूर्ण जिम्मेदारियां संभालती रहीं और वे उस दौर की गंभीर शायरा हुईं।

1677 डचों से इंग्लैंड के राजा चार्ल्स द्वितीय ने फ्रांस के खिलाफ गठबंधन किया।

1763 आस्ट्रेलिया और प्रसिया के बीच शांति संधि हुई।

1764 अमेरिका में सेंट लुईस शहर की स्थापना फ्रांस के सम्राट लुई नौवें ने करवाई। 1818 में चर्च द्वारा विश्वविद्यालय सेंट लुइस यूनिवर्सिटी की स्थापना की गई। यह अमेरिका का प्रसिद्ध, प्रतिष्ठित विवि है।

1798 फ्रांस ने रोम पर कब्जा कर उसे गणराज्य घोषित किया।

1806 फ्रांस और प्रसिया के मध्य संधि के बाद प्रसिया ने ब्रिटिश जहाजों के लिए अपने बंदरगाह बंद किये।

1820, एडम्स, मैसाचुसेट्स, संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका में सुसान बी. एंथोनी का जन्म हुआ। सुसान प्रमुख अमेरिकी समाज सुधारक और महिला अधिकार कार्यकर्ता थीं, जिन्होंने महिला मताधिकार आंदोलन में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाई। सामाजिक समानता के लिए प्रतिबद्ध क्वेकर परिवार की सुसान ने 17 साल की उम्र में गुलामी विरोधी याचिकाएँ एकत्र कीं और महिलाओं, गुलामों, गरीबों के अधिकार के लिए आंदोलन संगठित किए। उनके जन्म दिन पर फ्लोरिडा राज्य में अवकाश रहता है और उनके सम्मान में सुसान बी. एंथोनी दिवस मनाया जाता है।

1869 महान उर्दू शायर और लेखक मिर्जा असदुल्ला बेग खां गालिब का निधन गली क़ासिम जान, दिल्ली में हुआ। उनके बारे में शेर है, यूं तो हैं जमाने में सुखनवर बहुत अच्छे, कहते हैं कि गालिब का है अंदाजे-बयां और। लगे हाथ एक शेर और, मंजिल मिलेगी, भटक कर ही सही, गुमराह तो वह हैं, जो घर से निकले ही नहीं।

1870 स्टीवंस इंस्टीट्यूट ऑफ टेक्नोलॉजी की स्थापना न्यू जर्सी, अमेरिका में हुई, और यह मैकेनिकल इंजीनियरिंग में पहली बैचलर ऑफ इंजीनियरिंग डिग्री प्रदान करने वाला संस्थान बना।

1872 उत्तर प्रदेश में राज्यपाल रहे ब्रिटिश अफसर विलियम मैल्कम हेली का जन्म हुआ।

1879 अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति रदरफोर्ड बी. हेस ने महिला वकीलों को संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका के सर्वोच्च न्यायालय में मुकदमों में बहस करने की अनुमति देने वाले विधेयक पर हस्ताक्षर किए।

1898 अमेरिकी युद्धपोत यूएसएस मेन में विस्फोट हुआ और वह क्यूबा के हवाना बंदरगाह में डूब गया, जिससे जहाज के लगभग 354 चालक दल में से 274 लोग मारे गए।

1899 रूस के शासक जार निकोलस द्वितीय ने फरवरी घोषणापत्र के नाम से एक घोषणा जारी की, जिसने फिनलैंड के ग्रैंड डची की स्वायत्तता को कम कर दिया, इस प्रकार उत्पीड़न की पहली अवधि शुरू हुई।

1922 ज्ञानपीठ पुरस्कार से सम्मानित यशस्वी हिंदी कवि हुए नरेश मेहता का जन्म हुआ।

1924 प्रख्यात भारतीय मूर्तिकार और भित्ति चित्रकार के.जी. सुब्रह्मण्यम का जन्म हुआ।

1926 अमेरिका में अनुबंध एयर मेल सेवा की शुरूआत हुई।

1929 भारत के सर्वोच्च न्यायालय में जज हुए वीरास्वामी रामास्वामी का जन्म तमिलनाडु में हुआ।

1933 मियामी में ग्यूसेप जंगारा ने अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति चुनाव के दौरान फ्रैंकलिन डी. रूजवेल्ट की हत्या करने का प्रयास किया, जिसमें शिकागो के मेयर एंटोन जे. सेर्मक को गोली गई जिनकी अगले करीब 20 दिन में 6 मार्च को मृत्यु हो गई।

1935 मशहूर उर्दू शायर पद्मश्री सम्मान प्राप्त बशीर बद्र का जन्म उत्तर प्रदेश के फैजाबाद में हुआ।

1936 विश्व प्रसिद्ध रूसी चिकित्सक और जीव वैज्ञानिक पेट्रोविच पावलोफ का 87 वर्ष की आधु में निधन हुआ।

1939 भारत के प्रमुख अर्थशास्त्रियों में से एक सुरेश तेंदूलकर का जन्म हुआ।

1942 द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध में सिंगापुर का पतन हुआ व जापानी बलों द्वारा एक हमले के बाद, ब्रिटिश जनरल आर्थर पेरसिवल ने समर्पण कर दिया। लगभग 80,000 भारतीय, ब्रिटेन और ऑस्ट्रेलियाई सैनिक युद्ध-बंदी हो गये।

1944 भारत के प्रसिद्ध अमीर कारोबारी, बाॅम्बे डाइंग के मुखिया नुस्ली वाडिया का जन्म बंबई में हुआ। नुस्ली वाडिया के पिता नेविले वाडिया प्रसिद्ध पारसी व्यवसायी थे। वे पाकिस्तान के संस्थापक मोहम्मद अली जिन्ना के दामाद यानी जिन्ना की बेटी डीना के पति थे। इसी दिन जर्मनी के बर्लिन पर ब्रिटेन के सैकड़ों विमानों ने बमबारी की।

1947 हिंदी सिनेमा के प्रसिद्ध अभिनेता, निर्माता, निर्देशक रणधीर कपूर का जन्म हुआ। रणधीर विख्यात अभिनेता, निर्माता, निर्देशक राज कपूर के पुत्र हैं।

1948 लक्ष्मी बाई पर खूब लड़ी मर्दानी वह तो झांसी वाली रानी थी जैसी बहुचर्चित कविता लिखने वाली राष्ट्रवादी कवियत्री एवं स्वतंत्रता सेनानी सुभद्रा कुमारी चैहान का निधन हुआ।

1949 महाराष्ट्र के प्रमुख सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता, दलित चिंतक, लेखक और कवि नामदेव ढसाल का जन्म पुणे में हुआ। इसी दिन संस्कृत विद्वान और साहित्यकार राधावल्लभ त्रिपाठी का जन्म हुआ।

1951 मुंबई में बड़े संगीतकार हुए नाॅर्मन वाट राय का जन्म हुआ।

1952 भाजपा के सिख नेता, मोदी सरकार में राज्य मंत्री रहे और वर्तमान में राज्य सभा सदस्य हरदीप सिंह पुरी का जन्म अमृतसर में हुआ।

1954 सुपरिचित प्रगतिशील कवि, अनुवादक, आलोचक, समीक्षक, आलोचना पत्रिका के संपादक और लेखक, साहित्य अकादमी सम्मान प्राप्त अरुण कमल का हरिहरगंज, बिहार में जन्म हुआ।

1957 गिनिज बुक आफ वर्ल्ड रिकार्ड के अनुसार भारत का सबसे छोटे कद का व्यक्ति गुल मोहम्मद है। गुल का जन्म दिल्ली में हुआ। इसी दिन आंद्रेई ग्रोमिको सोवियत संघ के विदेश मंत्री बने।

1961 बेल्जियम में बोइंग 707 विमान के दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हो जाने से लगभग 50 लोगों की जान गयी।

1964 महाराष्ट्र के कोल्हापुर में चर्चित भारतीय फिल्म अभिनेता एवं फिल्मकार आशुतोष गोवारिकर जन्म हुआ।

1965 छायादार वृक्ष मैपल के पत्ते को कनाडा के आधिकारिक ध्वज के रूप में स्वीकार किया गया।

1967 चौथी लोक सभा के लिए भारत में आम चुनाव हुए।

1973 मलयालम और हिंदी सिनेमा के जाने माने सिनेमाटोग्राफर, निर्माता, निर्देशक राजीव रवि का जन्म एर्नाकुलम में हुआ।

1976 मध्य प्रदेश की राजधानी भोपाल में केंद्रीय कृषि अनुसंधान संस्थान की स्थापना की गई।

1981 काशीपुर (नैनीताल) में कविता कौशिक का जन्म हुआ। वे टेलीविजन की जानी मानी अभिनेत्री और माॅडल हैं। अब काशीपुर उत्तराखंड के ऊधम सिंह नगर जिले में है।

1982 मीरा जेसमिन के नाम से जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड दक्षिण भारतीय, बाॅलीवुड फिल्म अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल जेसमिन मैरी जोसफ का जन्म कुट्टापुझा में हुआ। इसी दिन श्रीलंका की राजधानी का कोलंबो से जनवर्धनपुर को स्थानांतरण हुआ।

1987 जाने माने भारतीय फुटबाल खिलाड़ी अनास एडाथोडिका का जन्म मलप्पुरम में हुआ।

1989 जाने माने भारतीय गायक, गीतकार, स्वर कलाकार, रियलिटी शो प्रस्तोता अमित मिश्रा का जन्म लखनऊ में हुआ। इसी दिन सोवियत संघ ने आधिकारिक तौर पर घोषणा की कि उसके सभी सैनिक नौ साल के संघर्ष के बाद अफगानिस्तान से स्वदेश वापस आ गए हैं।

1991 ईराक ने कुवैत से हटने की घोषणा की।

1995 संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका में सर्वाधिक वांछित कंप्यूटर हैकर, कंप्यूटर धोखाधड़ी और वायर धोखाधड़ी के आरोपी केविन मिटनिक को गिरफ्तार किया।

1999 परमाणु हथियारों पर रोक लगाने के लिए मिस्र की राजधानी काहिरा में निगरानी केंद्र की स्थापना करने की घोषणा।

2000 मशहूर फिल्म निर्माता निर्देशक बी.आर चोपड़ा को दादासाहेब फालके पुरस्कार प्रदान किया गया।

2001 इजरायल में हिंसा भड़क उठी क्योंकि इजरायल ने पश्चिमी तट पर गाजा पट्टी सील की।

2002 अफगानिस्तान में हज यात्रियों की भीड़ ने पर्यटन मंत्री अब्दुल रहमान को पीट-पीटकर मार डाला। इसी दिन इंटरनेशनल चाइल्डहुड कैंसर डे की स्थापना पहली बार चाइल्डहुड कैंसर इंटरनेशनल द्वारा की गई थी। अंतर्राष्ट्रीय चाइल्डहुड कैंसर जागरूकता दिवस का लक्ष्य बच्चों, किशोरों, उनके माता-पिता और परिवारों पर बचपन के कैंसर के प्रभाव को उजागर करना और नए उपचार और इलाज के विकल्पों के लिए अनुसंधान को बढ़ावा देना है। यह अभियान विभिन्न पहलुओं पर केंद्रित है, जिसमें बचपन के कैंसर के कारणों और जोखिम कारकों के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाना, बेहतर प्रारंभिक निदान और उपचार की वकालत करना और बचपन के कैंसर अनुसंधान को बढ़ावा देना शामिल है। यह कैंसर रोगियों और बचे लोगों का समर्थन करने और उनके सामने आने वाली चुनौतियों के बारे में जागरूकता बढ़ाने का अवसर भी प्रदान करता है।

2003 इतिहास के सबसे बड़े युद्ध विरोधी रैलियों में से एक में, लगभग 800 शहरों में दुनिया भर में लाखों लोगों ने इराक पर आसन्न अमेरिकी आक्रमण के विरोध में भाग लिया। अमेरिका ने इराक पर जैविक हथियार बनाने के झूठे आरोप लगाकर दुनिया को गुमराह किया। ईराक को हमले कर बर्बाद कर दिया, उस पर अपना कब्जा जमा लिया, एक झूठे मुकदमे के जरिये ईराकी राष्ट्रपति सद्दाम हुसैन को फांसी देकर मार डाला गया। यह सारी कवायद ईराक के तेल क्षेत्र प्रभुत्व कायम करने के लिए किया गया। इस बर्बर अमेरिकी कार्रवाई की हमलों से पहले और बाद में भी अमेरिका सहित दुनिया भर में जनता ने विरोध किया। अमेरिका की इस कार्रवाई में ब्रिटेन के तब के प्रधानमंत्री टोनी ब्लेयर भी समान रूप से भागीदार थे। ईराक में ब्रिटिश सैनिकों को मरवाने और ब्रिटिश जनता से झूठ बोलने के लिए ब्रिटिश लोगों ने ब्लेयर की खूब लानत-मलामत की। 2003 में इसी दिन एरियन 4 राकेट से दूरसंचार उपग्रह इंटलसैट अंतरिक्ष में छोड़ा गया।

2005 ईरान की राजधानी तेहरान में नमाजियों से भरी एक मस्जिद में आग लगने से लगभग 60 लोगों की जान गयी। इसी दिन 2005 में गुजरात के जूनागढ़ स्थित स्वामीनारायण मंदिर के पुजारी सहित चार लोगों को सेक्स स्कैंडल में गिरफ्तार किया गया।

2006 पाकिस्तान के मंत्रीमंडल ने दक्षिण एशिया मुक्त क्षेत्र समझौता यानी साफ्टा को स्वीकार किया।

2007 बांग्लादेश की अंतरिम सरकार ने भ्रष्ट व्यक्तियों के चुनाव लड़ने पर प्रतिबंध लगाया। इसी दिन इटली के प्रधानमंत्री रोमानो प्रोदी भारत यात्रा पर आए।

2008 हिंद महासागर के तटीय देशों के नौसेना प्रमुखों का पहला सम्मेलन नई दिल्ली में सम्पन्न हुआ।

2009 सार्वजनिक क्षेत्र की तेल कम्पनियों ने विमान ईधन एटीएफ की कीमतो में 3.7 प्रतिशत की कमी की।

2010 जयपुर घराने की कथक नृत्यागंना प्रेरणा श्रीमाली को 2009 के संगीत नाटक अकादमी पुरस्कार के लिए चुना गया। इसी दिन 2010 में केंद्रीय गृह मंत्री पी.चिदम्बरम के ऑपरेशन ग्रीनहंट शुरू करने के छह दिन के अंदर ही सशस्त्र माओवादियों ने पश्चिम बंगाल में पश्चिम मिदनापुर जिला स्थित सिल्दा शिविर पर हमला कर राज्य में माओवादी निरोधक अभियान में शामिल ईस्टर्न फ्रंटियर राइफल्स (ईएफआर) के 24 जवानों की हत्या कर दी। ग्रीन हंट अभियान में सरकार की ओर से सुरक्षा बलों ने सैकड़ों लोगों की हत्या की, सैकड़ों गांव तबाह किये और लोगों पर बहुत अत्याचार किया।

2011 मलेशिया में, इस्लामी नैतिकता पुलिस द्वारा वैलेंटाइन डे मनाने के लिए हजारों लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया।

2012 मध्य अमेरिकी देश होंडुरास में कोमायागुआ जेल में भीषण आग लग गई। इसमें करीब 358 लोगों की जान चली गई। इसी दिन 2012 में फ्रांसीसी चित्रकार बेकन की एक पेंटिंग क्रिस्टीज में 21.3 मिलियन पाउंड में बेची गई और हेनरीटा मोरालेस का चित्र जो युद्ध के बाद बेचा गया दूसरा सबसे मूल्यवान समकालीन युद्ध कला है। 2012 में इसी दिन इटली के कार्गो शिप के दो मरीन गार्ड्स ने भारत में केरल के दो मछुआरों की गोली मारकर हत्या कर दी। इससे भारत और इटली के बीच तनाव बढ़ गया। मामला भारत की अदालतों से होकर अंतरराष्ट्रीय कोर्ट में भी गया। वर्ष 2021 में वहां तय हुआ कि यह केस अब इटली की अदालत में चलेगा। इटली की ओर से इस मामले में मृतकों के परिजनों को कुछ मुआवजा दिया गया है।

2013 रूस में एक उल्का विस्फोट हुआ, जिससे 1,500 लोग घायल हो गए, झटकों से इमारतों की खिड़कियां टूट गईं, इमारतें हिल गईं। 

2015 प्रसिद्ध फिल्म अभिनेत्री मनोरमा का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन सुपरिचित भारतीय मूर्तिकार मृणालिनी मुखर्जी का देहांत हुआ।

2016 लोकप्रिय कनाडाई-अमेरिकी गायिका, गीतकार, नर्तकी, माॅडल और अभिनेत्री वैनिटी का निधन हुआ।

2017 इसरो ने एक साथ 104 सैटेलाइट लॉन्च करके कीर्तिमान स्थापित किया। इस कीर्तिमान को अमेरिका के अमीर एलन मस्क की कंपनी स्पेसएक्स ने बाद में ध्वस्त कर दिया।

2020 जानी मानी अंग्रेजी अभिनेत्री और टेलीविजन शो प्रस्तोता कैरोलीन फ्लैक का निधन हुआ।

2021 कांगो लोकतांत्रिक गणराज्य के माई-एनडोम्बे प्रांत के लोंगोला एकोती गांव के पास कांगो नदी में हुई एक नौका दुर्घटना में साठ लोग डूब गए और सैकड़ों लापता हो गये।

2022 जाने माने भारतीय गायक, संगीतकार और रिकॉर्ड निर्माता बप्पी लाहिड़ी का निधन हुआ।

1564 The great astronomer Galileo Galilei was born in a town called Pisa, Italy. He was the one who told that the Earth revolves around the Sun. The Sun does not revolve around the Earth. Whereas at that time it was believed in the world that the Sun revolves around the Earth. Religious and so-called noble people got angry after being told that the Earth revolves around the Sun. He was tried in the Roman court and was called to the court to give his defence. Upon reaching Rome, Galileo was arrested on 13 February 1633.

1638 Zeb-un-Nisa, daughter of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, was born. Jeb continued to hold important responsibilities during the Aurangzeb rule and became a serious poet of that era.
