1208 लीना की लड़ाई स्वीडन के राजा सेवरकर द्वितीय और उनके प्रतिद्वंद्वी, प्रिंस एरिक के बीच हुई, जीत के बाद एरिक एक्स स्वीडन के राजा बने।

1504 फ्रांस के नगर ल्योन में हु ई संधि के तहत इतालवी युद्ध समाप्त हुआ, फ्रांस को उत्तरी इटली पर और स्पेन को नेपल्स पर अधिकार मिला।

1561 विश्व विख्यात मुगल शहंशाह अकबर के अंगसंरक्षक बैरम खाँ की गुजरात के पाटण में हत्या कर दी गई।

1599 इंग्लैंड की महारानी एलिजाबेथ प्रथम की संस्तुति पर भारत में ब्रिटेन की पहली ईस्ट इंडिया कंपनी की स्थापना हुई।

1606 इंग्लैंड में शासन के खिलाफ साजिश करने के आरोप में गाइफाक्स नाम के एक व्यक्ति को फांसी दी गई।

1607 राष्ट्रीय दिवालिएपन की घोषणा के बाद स्पेन में बैंक ऑफ जेनेवा का पतन हुआ।

1846 मिल्वौकी ब्रिज युद्ध के बाद संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका के जूनोटाउन और किलबोर्नटाउन शहर मिल्वौकी शहर बनाने के लिए एकजुट हुए। मिल्वॉकी अमेरिकी राज्य विस्कॉन्सिन का सबसे बड़ा शहर, संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका का 26वां सबसे अधिक आबादी वाला शहर और अमेरिका का 39वां सबसे अधिक आबादी वाला क्षेत्र है। मिल्वॉकी बीयर उद्योग का गढ़ है। यह मिल्वॉकी काउंटी की काउंटी सीट है और यह मिशिगन झील के दक्षिण-पश्चिमी तट पर स्थित है।

1848 जाने माने भारतीय दार्शनिक, इतिहासकार, अनुवादक तथा सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता शिवंत शास्त्री का जन्म हुआ।

1850 चीन में ताए पींगहा यानी जनता का संकल्प नाम से सबसे बड़ा जनांदोलन आरंभ हुआ। यह जनता के शोषण, उत्पीड़न के खिलाफ आंदोलन था।

1865 अमेरिका में दासता उन्मूलन संबंधी 13वां संशोधन विधेयक स्वीकृत हुआ। तब गरीब लोगों, गुलामों की खरीद-फरोख्त होती थी। ढोर-डंगरों की तरह महिला, पुरुष, बच्चों को खरीदा, बेचा जाता था। इस कानून के बाद गुलामों की खरीद-फरोख्त आपराधिक कृत्य हुई।

1884 नोवखानी, बाकू उएजद, बाकू गवर्नरेट, काकेशस वायसरायल्टी, रूसी साम्राज्य में अजरबैजानी विद्वान, राजनीतिज्ञ, अजरबैजान लोकतांत्रिक गणराज्य के प्रथम राष्ट्रपति मम्माद अमीन रसूलजादे का जन्म हुआ।

1893 अमेरिका में पहली बार कोका कोला ट्रेडमार्क का पेटेंट किया गया।

1896 विख्यात कन्नड़ कवि डीआर बेंद्रे का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन ब्रेस्ट के निकट एक कस्बे प्रुझानी में सोफ्या अलेक्सांद्रोव्ना यानोन्सकाया का जन्म हुआ। जो इतिहासकार, अनुवादक, लेखिका, संपादक, कम्युनिस्ट पदाधिकारी, कार्ल मार्क्स के गणितीय कार्यों को रूसी भाषा में अनुवाद कर प्रकाशित करने के लिए जानी जाती हैं।

1915 प्रथम विश्व युद्ध के दौरान जर्मनी ने रूस के विरुद्ध जहरीली गैस का इस्तेमाल किया।

1932 पंजाब के प्रसिद्ध अखबार समूह पंजाब केसरी, हिंद समाचार एवं जगवाणी के मालिक हुए पत्रकार, संपादक विजय कुमार चोपड़ा जन्म हुआ।

1943 द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध के दौरान जर्मनी के फील्ड मार्शल फ्रेडरिक पोलस ने सोवियत संघ की सेना के समक्ष आत्मसमर्पण किया।

1946 सोवियत संघ के मॉडल के आधार पर यूगोस्लाविया के 6 देशों बोस्निया-हर्जेगोविना, सर्बिया, मैसेडोनिया, मोंटेनेग्रो, स्लोवेनिया, क्रोएशिया का विघटन हुआ।

1949 पहला टेलीविजन धारावाहिक (सोप ओपेरा) दीज आर माई चिल्ड्रेन शिकागो में एनबीसी स्टेशन द्वारा प्रसारित किया गया।

1953 आयरलैंड के निकट सागर में नौका दुर्घटना में चालक दल के सदस्यों के साथ कम से कम 200 यात्रियों की मौत हुई।

1957 अबादान से तेहरान तक पाइपलाइन बिछाने का काम पूरा हुआ।

1958 अमेरिका ने पहले भू-उपग्रह का प्रक्षेपण किया।

1961 हैम नामक चिंपैंजी को प्रोजेक्ट मरकरी के तहत फ्लोरिडा के टापू स्थित लॉन्च पैड से अंतरिक्ष यान के जरिये अंतरिक्ष में भेजा गया। करीब साढ़े तीन साल के हैम को कंटेनर में बांधकर 31 जनवरी 1861 को अंतरिक्ष के लिए रवाना किया गया। उड़ान के साढ़े सोलह घंटे बाद हैम अंतरिक्ष में पहुंचा। यान ने 5800 किमी प्रति घंटे की गति से 157 किमी की ऊंचाई तक उड़ान भरी। उड़ान के दौरान दबाव के कारण हैम के कैप्सूल को नुकसान पहुंचा था, लेकिन हैम के स्पेस सूट ने उसे बचा लिया और उसे कोई नुकसान नहीं पहुंचा। धरती पर लौटते वक्त हैम का कैप्सूल 130 किमी की दूरी पर अटलांटिक महासागर में जा गिरा। उसे बचाने के लिए कुछ ही घंटे में एक जहाज मौके पर पहुंचा। बताया गया कि जब हैम को कैप्सूल से निकाला गया तब उसके चेहरे पर मुस्कान थी, जिसे फोटोग्राफर ने अपने कैमरे में कैद कर लिया। कुछ लोग इसे खुशी की तो कुछ चिंता और भय की मुस्कान बताते हैं। अंतरिक्ष से वापसी के बाद हैम को 1963 में वॉशिंगटन के नेशनल जू में रखा गया। इसके बाद नॉर्थ कैरोलिना के चिड़ियाघर भेज दिया। 19 जनवरी 1983 को हैम का निधन हो गया। उसे अंतरिक्ष में भेजना एक ऐसा कामयाब प्रयोग था जिसने अंतरिक्ष में इंसान के जाने के रास्ते खोल दिए थे। क्योंकि चिंपैंजी की शारीरिक स्थिति करीब आदमी जैसी ही होती है। शोधों से पता चला है कि चिंपैंजी ही लाखों साल में सुधर कर इंसान बना है। इन अमेरिकी प्रयोगों का उद्देश्य अंतरिक्ष में इंसान को भेजने से पहले चिंपैंजी को भेजकर शरीर पर पड़ने वाले प्रभावों का पता लगाना था।

1961 बिहार के प्रथम मुख्यमंत्री श्रीकृष्ण सिंह का निधन हुआ।

1962 अमेरिकी देशों के संगठन ने क्यूबा को न शामिल करने का फैसला किया।

1963 मोर को भारत का राष्ट्रीय पक्षी घोषित किया गया।

1966 लूना कार्यक्रम के तहत मानवरहित लूना 9 स्पेशक्राफ्ट की सोवियत संघ ने लांचिंग की।

1968 प्रशांत महासागर में स्थित द्वीपीय देश नौरू को आस्ट्रेलिया से स्वाधीनता मिली। इसी दिन प्रसिद्ध भारतीय हिंदी निबंधकार और साहित्यकार पद्मनारायण राय का निधन हुआ।

1969 मेहराबाद, अहमदनगर, महाराष्ट्र, भारत में मेरवान शेरियार ईरानी का निधन हुआ। उन्हें मेहर बाबा (जन्म 25 फरवरी 1894 पुणे, बॉम्बे प्रेसीडेंसी, ब्रिटिश भारत) कहा जाता है। वह भारतीय आध्यात्मिक गुरु थे जिन्होंने घोषणा की कि वह युग के अवतार, या मानव रूप में भगवान हैं। वे 20वीं सदी की एक प्रमुख आध्यात्मिक व्यक्ति थे। उनके लाखों अनुयायी हुए जिनमें ज्यादातर भारत में साथ ही संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका, यूरोप और ऑस्ट्रेलिया में उनकी संख्या थी। अनुयायी उनकी पुण्य तिथि अमर तिथि के नाम से मनाते हैं।

1971 पूर्व और पश्चिमी बर्लिन के बीच 19 साल के अंतराल के बाद फिर से टेलीफोन सेवा बहाल हुई।

1972 बीरेंद्र बीर बिक्रम शाह नेपाल के 12वें राजा बने।

1974 पेन अमेरिका एयरवेज का विमान दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हुआ, जिसमें लगभग 25 लोग मारे गये।

1975 विख्यात भारतीय फिल्म अभिनेत्री और कारोबारी प्रीति जी जिंटा का शिमला हिमाचल प्रदेश में जन्म हुआ।

1978 अभिनेत्री मलाइका अरोड़ा खान की बहन जानी मानी खूबसूरत बोल्ड प्रसिद्ध माॅडल, टेलीविजन और स्टेज शो प्रस्तोता अमृता अरोड़ा का जन्म हुआ।

1979 चीन ने सोवियत संघ को विश्वयुद्ध भड़काने वाला मुख्य देश होने का आरोप लगाया।

1983 कोलकाता में पहला शुष्क बंदरगाह शुरू हुआ।

1985 दलबदल निरोधक संबंधी 52वें संविधान संशोधन विधेयक को राज्यसभा ने भी मंजूरी दी।

1986 मुंबई में मनीषा केलकर का जन्म हुआ। वे जानी मानी, खूबसूरत एवं बोल्ड माॅडल और अभिनेत्री तथा एंकर हैं।

1987 प्रसिद्ध स्वतंत्रता सेनानी मिनजुर भक्तवत्सलम का निधन हुआ।

1988 तमिल भाषा के साहित्यकार अकिलन का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन पोलैंड में सालिडैरिटी समर्थकों ने सरकार द्वारा मूल्यवृद्धि के विरोध में प्रदर्शन किया। इसी दिन 1988 में डौग विलियम्स सुपर बाउल में खेलने वाले पहले अफ्रीकी अमेरिकी क्वार्टरबैक बने और सुपर बाउल 22 में वाशिंगटन रेडस्किंस को जीत दिलाई।

1989 कोलंबिया विमान को हाईजैक किया और इसमें सवार 122 लोगों को किडनैप कर कोस्टारिका ले जाया गया।

1990 रूस की राजधानी मास्को में विश्व का सबसे बड़ा मेकडोनाल्ड स्टोर शुरू हुआ।

1992 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड ब्रिटिश फिल्म अभिनेत्री ऐमी लुइस जैक्सन का जन्म इंग्लैंड में हुआ। वे मिस टीन वल्र्ड चुनी गईं और भारतीय हिंदी, तमिल, तेलुगू इत्यादि फिल्मों में अभिनय किया है।

1996 श्रीलंका की राजधानी कोलंबो में हुए आत्मघाती हमले में 86 लोगों की मौत हुई एवं 1400 घायल हुए।

1998 प्रसिद्ध टेनिस स्टार मार्टिना हिंगिस ने कोंचिता मार्टिनेज को हराकर आस्ट्रेलियाई ओपन चैंपियनशिप जीती।

1999 अर्मिनिया की सुंदरी गोहर अरुथ्यूनियम मिस कॉमनवेल्थ 1999 चुनी गईं। इसी दिन येवगेनी काफेलनिकोव (रूस) ने पुरुषों का आस्ट्रेलियन ओपन टेनिस का एकल खिताब जीता।

2000 भारतीय सिनेमा के खलनायक अभिनेता के. एन. सिंह का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन चर्चित हवाला केस के सभी आरोपी अदालत ने बरी हुए। 2000 अलास्का एयरलाइंस की उड़ान 261 तकनीकी खराबी के कारण कैलिफोर्निया के प्वाइंट मुगु के तट पर प्रशांत महासागर में दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हो कर गिर गया, जिसमें सवार सभी 88 लोग मारे गए।

2001 नीदरलैंड में एक स्कॉटिश अदालत ने लीबिया के अब्देलबासेट अल-मेगराही को दोषी ठहराया और 1988 में लॉकरबी, स्कॉटलैंड के ऊपर पैन एम फ्लाइट 103 पर बमबारी में भाग लेने के लिए लीबिया के एक अन्य नागरिक को बरी कर दिया।

2002 झारखंड के राज्यपाल प्रभात कुमार ने इस्तीफा दिया।

2004 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय पाश्र्व गायिका और अभिनेत्री सुरैया जमाल शेख का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन पाकिस्तानी परमाणु कार्यक्रम के जनक डॉ. अब्दुल कादिर खान को अन्य देशों को परमाणु प्रौद्योगिकी के हस्तांतरित करने के आरोप में गिरफ्तार किया गया।

2005 जनरल जोगिंदर सिंह नए सेना प्रमुख बने। इसी दिन बांग्लादेश ने जिम्बाव्वे से एक दिवसीय श्रंखला 3-2 से जीती।

2007 टाटा समूह की भारतीय स्टील कंपनी टाटा, एंग्लो डच इस्पात कंपनी कोरस के अधिग्रहण के बाद विश्व की पांचवी बड़ी कंपनी बनी। इसी दिन नागालैंड के तीसरे मुख्यमंत्री होकिसे सेमा का निधन हुआ।

2008 भारत-अमेरिकी असैन्य परमाणु करार के विवादास्पद हाइड-एक्ट कानून के जनक और पूर्व रिपब्लिकन सांसद हेनरी हाइड का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन 2008 में उत्तर प्रदेश की मुख्यमंत्री मायावती ने यूपी को 5 साल के अंदर बिजली के मामले में आत्मनिर्भर बनाने के लिए 6 हजार 168 करोड़ रुपए की विद्युत परियोजनाओं का लोकार्पण और शिलान्यास किया। 2008 में इसी दिन बेनजीर भुट्टो की पार्टी ने चुनाव के लिए अपनी पाकिस्तान पीपुल्स पार्टी का घोषणा पत्र जारी किया।

2020 47 वर्षों तक सदस्य राज्य रहने के बाद अनुच्छेद 50 के अनुसार यूरोपीय संघ के भीतर यूनाइटेड किंगडम की सदस्यता समाप्त हुई। 2020 में इसी दिन लाहौर हाई कोर्ट ने उस विशेष अदालत को असंवैधानिक करार दिया, जिसने पाकिस्तान के पूर्व राष्ट्रपति परवेज मुशर्रफ को संगीन देशद्रोह का दोषी करार देते हुए मौत की सजा सुनाई थी। इसी दिन ओडिशा के फिल्म निर्माता मनमोहन महापात्र का भुवनेश्वर में निधन हुआ। इसी दिन भारत के केंद्रीय स्वास्थ्य और परिवार कल्याण मंत्रालय ने दुर्लभ बीमारियों पर एक नीति मसौदा दुर्लभ रोग 2020 जारी किया। इसमें उन गरीब लोगों को 15 लाख रुपये की सहायता प्रदान करने का प्रावधान किया गया है जो उपचार का खर्च वहन नहीं कर सकते। इसी दिन ख्यातिप्राप्त पंजाबी लेखिका दलीप कौर टिवाणा का निधन हुआ।

2022 ब्रिटेन की वरिष्ठ सिविल सेवा अधिकारी सू ग्रे ने प्रधानमंत्री निवास 10 डाउनिंग स्ट्रीट पार्टीगेट विवाद पर अपनी रिपोर्ट का प्रारंभिक संस्करण प्रकाशित किया। कोरोना वायरस के दौरान सभा, पार्टी इत्यादि न करने के सरकारी आदेशों के खिलाफ जा कर प्रधानमंत्री बोरिस जॉनसन सरकार और उनकी कंजर्वेटिव पार्टी ने प्रधानमंत्री के सरकारी आवास में पार्टी आयोजित की।

2023 वैश्विक आर्थिक मामलों पर नजर रखने वाली संयुक्त राष्ट्र की एजेंसी अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मुद्रा कोष (आईएमएफ) ने अनुमान जताया कि अगले वित्त वर्ष में भारतीय अर्थव्यवस्था की वृद्धि में कुछ नरमी आ सकती है और यह 6.1 फीसदी रह सकती है, जो 31 मार्च को खत्म होने जा रहे चालू वित्त वर्ष की 6.8 फीसदी की वृद्धि के मुकाबले कम है। आईएमएफ ने जनवरी का विश्व आर्थिक परिदृश्य मंगलवार को जारी किया। इसमें कहा गया कि वैश्विक वृद्धि भी 2022 के 3.4 फीसदी से घटकर 2023 में 2.9 फीसदी पर आने का अनुमान है। मुद्रा कोष में अनुसंधान विभाग के निदेशक एवं मुख्य अर्थशास्त्री पियरे ओलिवर गोरिंचेस ने कहा कि वृद्धि के हमारे अनुमान वास्तव में भारत के लिए तो अक्टूबर के परिदृश्य की तुलना में अपरिवर्तित ही हैं।

The vehicle flew at a speed of 5800 km per hour to a height of 157 km. Hamm's capsule was damaged due to pressure during flight, but Hamm's space suit saved him and he was unharmed.
