994 ओरोंटेस की लड़ाई में बीजेंटाइन साम्राज्य पर मेजर फातिमिद की जीत हुई। ओरोंटेस की लड़ाई 15 सितंबर 994 को माइकल बौर्त्ज के नेतृत्व में बीजान्टिन और उनके हमदानिद सहयोगियों के बीच दमिश्क के फातिमिद वजीर, तुर्की जनरल मंजुताकिन की सेना के खिलाफ लड़ी गई थी।

973 प्रख्यात ईरानी फारसी विद्वान् लेखक, वैज्ञानिक, धर्मज्ञ तथा विचारक अल बेरूनी यानी अबु रेहान अल बरूनी का जन्म हुआ।

1707 ट्रांसिल्वेनिया के राजकुमार फेरेंस रकोक्जी द्वितीय और रूसी राजा (जार) पीटर ने सामाजिक सुरक्षा समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किये।

1810 निगवेल हिदाल्गो ने स्पेन से मैक्सिको की आजादी के लिए संघर्ष शुरु किया।

1812 फ्रांसीसी शासक नेपोलियन बोनापार्ट के नेतृत्व में फ्रांसीसी सेना रूस की राजधानी मास्को स्थित रूसी सरकार के मुख्यालय क्रैमलिन पहुंची।

1821 मध्य अमेरिकी देश कोस्टारिका, अल सल्वाडोर, ग्वाटेमाला, होंडुरास और निकारागुआ को स्वतंत्रता मिली।

1830 लिवरपूल से मैनचेस्टर रेलवे लाइन चालू हुई। ब्रिटिश सांसद विलियम हस्किसन लोकोमोटिव रॉकेट नामक इंजन की चपेट में आने से मारे गए पहले व्यापक रूप से रिपोर्ट किए गए रेलवे यात्री बन गए।

1835 एचएमएस बीग जहाज विख्यात प्रकृति, मानवविज्ञानी चार्ल्स डार्विन को लेकर गैलापागोस द्वीप समूह पर पहुंचा।

1846 पूरे शाह परिवार, उनके रक्षकों, विश्वास पात्र, नजदीकी लोगों यानी करीब 40-50 लाख लोगों को मारने के बाद नेपाल की सत्ता पर जंग बहादुर राणा ने अपना आधिपत्य कायम किया।

1861 भारत रत्न सम्मान प्राप्त करने वाले विख्यात भारतीय इंजीनियर, वैज्ञानिक और आविष्कारक मोक्षगुंडम विश्वेश्वरैया का जन्म हुआ। इनके जन्म दिन पर भारत में इंजीनियर्स डे या अभियंता दिवस मनाया जाता है। उन्होंने कहा था, अहंकारी मत बनो स्वभाव विनम्र बनाओ और साथियों के साथ मिलकर काम करने की आदत डालो। इंसान हमेशा अपनी औकात के बराबर कमाता है। टाइम बढाकर अधिक पैसे नहीं कमाए जा सकते, वैल्यू बढ़ाकर अधिक पैसे कमाए जा सकते हैं।

1876 विख्यात बांग्ला कथाकार शरत चंद्र चट्टोपाध्याय का जन्म देबानंदपुर, बंडेल में हुआ।

1890 हरक्यूल पॉयरॉट, मिस मार्पल और पार्क पाइन जैसे जासूसी किरदारों में जान डालने वाली विख्यात अंग्रेजी लेखिका अगाथा क्रिस्टी का जन्म हुआ।

1894 प्योंगयांग (अब उत्तर कोरिया की राजधानी) की लड़ाई में जापान ने चीन को करारी मात दी।

1897 भारतीय स्वतंत्रता संग्राम सेनानी और पाकिस्तान के छठे प्रधानमंत्री हुए इब्राहिम इस्माइल चुंदरीगर या आईआई चुंदरीगर का जन्म अहमदाबाद में हुआ।

1916 प्रथम विश्व युद्ध में प्रथम बार सोम्मे की लड़ाई में टैंक का इस्तेमाल किया गया।

1905 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय हिंदी साहित्यकार डॉ. रामकुमार वर्मा का जन्म हुआ।

1909 तमिलनाडु के प्रसिद्ध नेता और भूतपूर्व मुख्यमंत्री सी. एन. अन्नादुराई का जन्म हुआ।

1922 प्रसिद्ध अमेरिकी फिल्म अभिनेता और निर्देशक जैकी कूपर का जन्म हुआ।

1926 कट्टरवादी, चरमपंथी हिंदू संगठन विश्व हिंदू परिषद के अंतरराष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष रहे अशोक सिंघल का जन्म अतरौली, उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ और इनका 17 नवंबर 2015 को गुड़गांव के एक अस्पताल में निधन हुआ।

1927 प्रसिद्ध कवि, पत्रकार, लेखक और, समाचार पत्रिका दिनमान तथा बाल पत्रिका पराग के संपादक रहे सर्वेश्वर दयाल सक्सेना का जन्म हुआ।

1931 महात्मा गांधी एवं अंग्रेज वायसराय लार्ड इरविन के मध्य समझौता हुआ।

1935 जर्मन यहूदियों से उनकी नागरिकता छीन ली गई, उन्हें सार्वजनिक पद और व्यवसायों से अयोग्य ठहराया गया, सरकार द्वारा नागरिकों को प्रदत्त सुविधाओं में यहूदियों के लिए कटौती की गई और यहूदियों - जर्मनों के मध्य शादी करना प्रतिबंधित कर दिया गया। हिटलर की पार्टी के चिन्ह स्वास्तिका को जर्मनी का आधिकारिक ध्वज बनाया गया।

1939 भारतीय जनता पार्टी नेता, पूर्व राज्यसभा सदस्य, अर्थशास्त्री सुब्रमनियन स्वामी का जन्म माइलापुरम, मद्रास में हुआ।

1940 द्वितीय विश्वयुद्ध के दौरान ब्रिटेन की वायुसेना ने दावा किया कि उसने जर्मन तानाशाह एडोल्फ हिटलर की वायुसेना को हरा दिया है।

1946 बंबई की झुग्गी बस्तियों के लिए संघर्ष करने वाले विख्यात सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता जॉकिन अर्पुथम का जन्म हुआ।

1947 हरियाणा के प्रभावशाली राजनेता, पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री और वर्तमान में नेता प्रतिपक्ष हरियाणा भूपिंदर सिंह हुड्डा का जन्म हुआ।

1948 स्वतंत्र भारत का पहला ध्वजपोत आईएनएस बंबई (अब मुंबई) के बंदरगाह पर पहुंचा। 1948 में इसी दिन भारतीय सेना ने ऑपरेशन पोलो के तहत जालना, लातूर, मोमिनाबाद, सुरियापेट और नरकटपल्ली शहरों पर कब्जा कर लिया।

1950 अमेरिका में हिंदूवादी गतिविधियां चला रहे कारोबारी तथा प्रमुख हिंदुवादी कार्यकर्ता और लेखक राजीव मल्होत्रा का जन्म दिल्ली में हुआ।

1951 चीन ने तिब्बत पर कब्जा किया। इससे घबराकर हजारों तिब्बती भारत आ गये।

1958 चिकित्सा विज्ञानियों ने घातक रोग ट्रेकोमा के वायरस की पहली बार खोज की।

1959 रूसी नेता निकिता ख्रुश्चेव अमेरिका की यात्रा करने वाले सोवियत संघ के पहले नेता बने।

1959 भारत की राष्ट्रीय प्रसारण सेवा दूरदर्शन की शुरुआत हुई। दूरदर्शन की शुरुआत के समय इसमें कुछ देर के लिए कार्यक्रमों का प्रसारण किया जाता था। नियमित दैनिक प्रसारण की शुरुआत 1965 में आल इंडिया रेडियो के एक अंग के रूप में हुई। 1972 में यह सेवा बंबई और अमृतसर तक विस्तारित की गई, जो आज देश के दूरदराज के गांवों तक उपलब्ध है। राष्ट्रीय प्रसारण की शुरूआत 1982 में हुई। इसी वर्ष दूरदर्शन का स्वरूप रंगीन हो गया। इससे पहले यह श्वेत श्याम ही हुआ करता था।

1970 कन्नड़, तमिल, तेलुगू, मलयालम और हिंदी सहित कई भाषाओं की ढाई सौ से अधिक फिल्मों में काम करने वाली लोकप्रिय दक्षिण भारतीय अभिनेत्री राम्या कृष्णन का जन्म चेन्नई में हुआ।

1971 प्रदूषण रहित, हरी-भरी और शांति पूर्ण दुनिया के निर्माण के लिए प्रतिबद्ध अंतरराष्ट्रीय संस्था ग्रीन पीस की स्थापना की गई। ग्रीनपीस पर्यावरण चेतना का विश्वव्यापी आंदोलन है। इसकी स्थापना सन 1971 में कनाडा के वैनकूवर में हुई थी। तात्कालिक रूप से यह संस्था अमेरिका द्वारा अलास्का में नाभीकीय हथियारों के परीक्षण का विरोध करने के लिये बनी थी किन्तु बाद में इसका उद्देश्य व्यापक रूप से पर्यावरण की सुरक्षा होता गया। आज यह दुनिया भर में पर्यावरण संरक्षण के लिए काम करती है।

1978 अर्मेनिया की अरैरट एरेवन ने पहली विदेशी टीम के तौर पर मोहन बागान के साथ संयुक्त रूप से आई.एफ.ए. शील्ड जीती।

1981 वानुआतु संयुक्त राष्ट्र संघ का सदस्य बना।

1982 लेबनान के निर्वाचित राष्ट्रपति बशीर गेमायेल की पदासीन होने के पूर्व ही बम बिस्फोट कर हत्या कर दी गई।

1985 बाॅलीवुड और टाॅलीवुड फिल्मों की बोल्ड अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल नेहा ओबराय का जन्म मुंबई में हुआ।

1986 विख्यात भारतीय जादूगर पीसी साॅरकार जूनियर की बेटी जानी मानी फिल्म अभिनेत्री और माॅडल मुमताज़ साॅरकार का जन्म कलकत्ता में हुआ। इसी दिन विख्यात भारतीय प्रोफेशनल स्कवैश प्लेयर जोशना चिनप्पा का जन्म चेन्नई में हुआ।

1989 जानी मानी बोल्ड, खूबसूरत टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री तथा माॅडल शिनी दोषी का जन्म अहमदाबाद में हुआ।

1991 यूरोप के दक्षिण पूर्वी क्षेत्र में स्थित मेसोडोनिया ने युगोस्वालिया से खुद के स्वतंत्र होने की घोषणा की।

1996 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड माॅडल और टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री मोनिका शर्मा का जन्म दिल्ली में हुआ।

1998 गूगल डॉट कॉम डोमेन नेम के रूप में पंजीकृत हुआ। इससे पहले 1998 में लैरी पेज और सर्गेई ब्रिन ने मिलकर गूगल को कंपनी के रूप में पंजीकृत कराया और इसके लिए एक बैंक खाता खोला। कैलिफोर्निया के मेनलो पार्क में अपने मित्र सुसान वोज्स्की के गैरेज में अपनी कंपनी की शुरुआत हुई थी।

2000 आॅस्ट्रेलिया के सिडनी में 27वें ओलम्पिक खेलों का शुभारंभ हुआ।

2001 अमेरिकी सीनेट ने राष्ट्रपति को अफगानिस्तान पर सैनिक कार्यवाही की मंजूरी दी।

2002 न्यूयार्क में संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा की बैठक के अवसर पर भारत, चीन एवं रूस के विदेश मंत्रियों की बैठक आयोजित हुई, थाईलैंड के सट्टाहिम में श्रीलंका सरकार व लिट्टे के बीच सीधी वार्ता शुरू हुई।

2003 सिंगापुर के मुद्दे पर विकासशील देशों के भड़क उठने से विश्व व्यापार संगठन डब्ल्यूटीओ की वार्ता विफल हुई।

2004 भारतीय मूल के परिवार में केन्या की राजधानी नैरोबी में जन्मी ब्रिटिश नागरिक गुरिंदर चड्ढा को वूमैन आफ द ईयर सम्मान दिया गया।

2007 संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा ने 15 सितंबर को अंतर्राष्ट्रीय लोकतंत्र दिवस के रूप में मनाने का संकल्प लिया। तब से संयुक्त राष्ट्र दुनिया भर के देशों को लोकतंत्र का पाठ पढ़ा रहा है और लोकतंत्र के खिलाफ काम करने वाले देशों, शासकों की आलोचना भी कर रहा है। इसके बावजूद तानाशाही, शासकों, शासकवर्गीय लोगों की मनमानी बढ़ती जा रही है।

2008 विद्युत और ऊर्जा चलित विविध उपकरण बनाने वाली प्रमुख भारतीय कंपनी क्राम्पटन ग्रीब्स ने अमेरिका की एमएसआई ग्रुप कंपनी का अधिग्रहण किया। 2008 में इसी दिन अमरीका के सबसे बड़े बैंकों में से एक लेहमैन ब्रदर्स ने अपने आप को दिवालिया घोषित कर दिया। यह अब तक की अमरीकी इतिहास कि दिवालिया होने की सबसे बड़ी घटना थी। इसके साथ ही अमेरिका के कई वित्तीय संस्थान ढह गए। इस मंदी का असर भारत सहित पूरी दुनिया पर पड़ा। इसी साल राष्ट्रपति चुनाव में बराक हुसैन ओबामा पहली बार प्रतिभाग कर रहे थे। वे विजयी हुए और 20 जनवरी 2009 को पदासीन हुए। मंदी और बेरोजगारी के लिए चुनाव के दौरान ओबामा ने अमेरिकी कंपनियों को जिम्मेदार ठहराया था।

2009 बंगलूर के मुंदिर शिवराजी ने सब जूनियर बिलियर्ड्स का खिताब जीता। इसी दिन संयुक्त राष्ट्र द्वारा जारी एक रिपोर्ट में बताया गया कि इजरायल और फिलिस्तीनी दोनों देशों की सेनाओं ने युद्ध अपराध किए हैं। इसी दिन पेनिनसुला फाउंडेशन, तमिलनाडु के चेयरमैन सुब्रतो चटोपाध्याय 2009-10 के लिए आडिट ब्यूरो ऑफ सर्कुलेशन के अध्यक्ष चुने गये।

2012 क्लोजर पत्रिका के बाद आयरिश अखबार डेली स्टार ब्रिटिश शाही घराने की बहू, वेल्स की राजकुमारी केट मिडलटन यानी कैथरीन प्रिंसेस आफ वेल्स की (ब्रिटिश राजकुमार विलियम की पत्नी) की टॉपलेस तस्वीरें छापने वाला दूसरा टैब्लॉइड अखबार बना।

1989 विख्यात अमेरिकी कवि, उपन्यासकार और साहित्यिक आलोचक रॉबर्ट पेन वॉरेन का निधन हुआ। वे न्यू क्रिटिसिज्म के संस्थापकों में से एक थे। पेन दक्षिणी लेखकों की फेलोशिप के चार्टर सदस्य भी थे। उन्होंने 1935 में क्लीन्थ ब्रुक्स के साथ साहित्यिक पत्रिका द साउदर्न रिव्यू की स्थापना की। उन्हें 1947 में ऑल द किंग्स मेन (1946) उपन्यास के लिए पुलित्जर पुरस्कार और 1958 और 1979 में कविता के लिए पुलित्जर पुरस्कार मिला। कथा और कविता दोनों के लिए पुलित्जर पुरस्कार प्राप्त करने वाले पेन एक मात्र व्यक्ति हुए।

2017 कासीनी अंतरिक्ष यान शनि के उपग्रह टाइटन से टकरा गया।

2018 विख्यात ब्रिटिश गायिका हेलेन क्लेयर (जन्म का नाम नेली हैरिसन) का निधन हुआ। 1930 और 1940 के दशक में रेडियो प्रसारण से करियर की शुरुआत की। बाद में वे टेलीविजन, रिकॉर्डिंग और मंचीय प्रस्तुतियों अपने अच्छे काम के लिए प्रसिद्ध और सम्मानित हुई। बीबीसी रेडियो पर प्रदर्शन किया और ब्रिटिश डांस बैंड के साथ रिकॉर्डिंग की। उनकी विशिष्ट सोप्रानो आवाज ने उन्हें उस युग के कुछ सबसे बड़े नामों के साथ काम का अवसर दिया। जिनमें बैंडलीडर जैक जैक्सन और हेनरी हॉल शामिल थे। हेलेन क्लेयर आखिरी जीवित ब्रिटिश गायिकाओं में से एक थीं जो 20वीं सदी के 1930 के दशक में सक्रिय थीं और इक्कीसवीं सदी के भी कुछ वर्षों में। इनका जन्म 29 नवंबर 1916 को 

2021 उच्चतम न्यायालय ने केंद्र से दो सप्ताह के भीतर उन न्यायाधिकरणों (ट्रिब्यूनल) में नियुक्तियां करने को कहा है, जहां पीठासीन अधिकारियों के साथ साथ न्यायिक एवं तकनीकी सदस्यों की भारी कमी है। सर्वोच्च न्यायालय ने केंद्र से यह भी कहा कि यदि अनुशंसित सूची में शामिल व्यक्तियों को शामिल नहीं किया जाता है, तो वह इसका कारण बताए। चीफ जस्टिस एनवी रमणा और जस्टिस डीवाई चंद्रचूड़ की पीठ ने देश भर में अर्ध न्यायिक निकायों में रिक्त पदों के नहीं भरे जाने पर नाखुशी व्यक्त की और कहा कि यह दयनीय स्थिति है और वादियों को अधर में नहीं छोड़ा जा सकता। विभिन्न प्रमुख न्यायाधिकरणों और अपीली न्यायाधिकरणों में लगभग 250 पद रिक्त हैं।

इसी दिन बाॅलिवुड अभिनेत्री मुमैत खान मादक पदार्थ रैकेट से जुड़े धनशोधन यानी मनी लाॅन्ड्रिंग मामले की जांच के तहत प्रवर्तन निदेशालय ईडी के समक्ष पेश हुईं। इस मादक पदार्थ रैकेट का भंडाफोड़ 2017 में हुआ था। मुमैत तेलुगु फिल्म उद्योग (टॉलीवुड) से जुड़ी 8वीं हस्ती हैं जो इस संबंध में ईडी के समक्ष पेश हुईं हैं। जांच एजेंसी ने निर्देशकों एवं कलाकारों समेत अब तक 10 शख्सयितों को तलब किया है। इस साल 31 अगस्त से लेकर अब तक प्रख्यात फिल्मकार पुरी जगन्नाध, अभिनेत्री चरमी कौर और रकुल प्रीत सिंह, अभिनेता राणा डग्गुबती, रवि तेजा और पी नवदीप केंद्रीय जांच एजेंसी के समक्ष पेश हो चुके हैं। इसी दिन अमेरिकी गायक निक जोनास से विवाह कर अमेरिका में बस चुकी भारतीय अभिनेत्री एवं निर्माता प्रियंका चोपड़ा जोनस को प्रोड्यूसर्स गिल्ड ऑफ अमेरिका पीजीए ने सदस्य के रूप में संस्थान में शामिल किया है। पीजीए की आधिकारिक वेबसाइट के अनुसार, पीजीए एक गैर-लाभकारी व्यापार संगठन है जो फिल्म, टेलीविजन और न्यू मीडिया में निर्माता टीम के सभी सदस्यों के हितों का प्रतिनिधित्व, सुरक्षा और प्रचार करता है। स्क्रिप्टेड, नॉन-फिक्शन, डॉक्यूमेंट्री, एनिमेशन और न्यू मीडिया क्षेत्र में पूरी निर्माता टीम में इसके 8,000 से अधिक सदस्य हैं। पीजीए ने ट्वीट कर कहा, मेंबरशिप मंडे प्रोड्यूसर्स गिल्ड एक सदस्य के रूप में अभिनेत्री, गायिका और फिल्म निर्माता प्रियंका चोपड़ा का स्वागत करता है। इसी दिन भारतीय किसान यूनियन बीकेयू के नेता राकेश टिकैत ने कहा कि ओवैसी भाजपा के साथ हैं और उन्हें भगवा पार्टी का चाचा जान कहा। बागपत में पत्रकारों से बात करते हुए उन्होंने कहा, भाजपा के चाचा जान, असदुद्दीन ओवैसी उत्तर प्रदेश में प्रवेश कर गए हैं। अगर वह (ओवैसी) उन्हें (भाजपा) गाली देंगे, तो वे उनके खिलाफ कोई मामला दर्ज नहीं करेंगे क्योंकि वे एक टीम हैं।
