1180 जापान के 82वें हुए सम्राट गो टोबा का जन्म हियान-क्यो में हुआ।

1506 केत्सक तातार लड़ाई में लिथुआनिया के ग्रैंड डची लड़ाकों ने तातार को हराकर विजय प्राप्त की।

1806 इटली के राजा फ्रांसिस द्वितीय ने राजशाही और रोमन सम्राट का पद त्याग दिया। देश को लोकतांत्रिक व्यवस्था में बदलने का काम शुरु हुआ। इस तरह एक सहस्राब्दी के बाद कथित पवित्र रोमन साम्राज्य समाप्त हुआ।

1825 बोलीविया को पेरू की गुलामी से स्वतंत्रता मिली।

1890 ऑबर्न जेल, न्यू यॉर्क में विलियम केमलर को इलेक्ट्रिक चेयर में करंट से मौत की सजा दी गई। विलियम ने एक महिला की कुल्हाड़ी से हत्या की थी। ये पहला मामला था जब इलेक्ट्रिक चेयर के जरिए किसी को मौत की सजा दी गई।

1906 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय स्वतंत्रता सेनानी चित्तरंजन दास और अन्य कांग्रेसी नेताओं ने मिलकर वंदेमातरम समाचार पत्र का प्रकाशन प्रारंभ किया।

1914 ऑस्ट्रिया ने रूस के खिलाफ युद्ध की घोषणा की।

1915 पाँचवें भारतीय लोकसभा अध्यक्ष गुरदयाल सिंह ढिल्लों का जन्म हुआ।

1921 गुजरात और मध्य प्रदेश के राज्यपाल हुए, स्वतंत्रता सेनानी के. एम. चांडी का जन्म हुआ।

1925 भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस के प्रभावशाली नेता सर सुरेन्द्रनाथ बेनर्जी का निधन हुआ।

1926 इंग्लिश चैनल तैरकर पार करने वाली अमेरिकी तैराक गेरट्रुड एडर्ल पहली महिला बनीं।

1930 न्यूयॉर्क के नगर जज जोसेफ फोर्स क्रेटर रहस्यमय ढंग से गायब हो गए वे फिर लंबे समय तक नहीं मिले तो उन्हें द मिसिंगेस्ट मैन इन द न्यू यॉर्क का खिताब दिया गया।

1933 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय क्रिकेटर ए.जी. कृपाल सिंह का जन्म हुआ।

1944 जाने माने भारतीय, अमेरिकी अर्थशास्त्री अविनाश कर्माकर दीक्षित का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1945 मानव, जीव-जंतु और पृथ्वी के खिलाफ एक भयंकर कार्रवाई करते हुए अमेरिका ने परमाणु बम लिटिल बॉय हिरोशिमा पर गिराया, इस प्रथम शक्तिशाली बम हमले में करीब 140,000 लोग मारे गए और बड़े इलाके में सभी कुछ नष्ट और विकृत हो गया। इस भयंकर बर्बादी को याद करने को दुनिया भर में 6 अगस्त को आयोजन होते हैं। विनाशक हथियार मुक्त और युद्ध मुक्त विश्व और शांति की अपीलें की जाती हैं। 

1959 राजेन्द्र सिंह का जन्म उत्तर प्रदेश के बागपत जिले के डौला गाँव में हुआ। राजेन्द्र सिंह भारत के जाने माने पर्यावरण कार्यकर्ता, जल संरक्षण के क्षेत्र में अतुलनीय कार्य करने के लिए प्रसिद्ध हैं। उन्होंने तरुण भारत संघ नाम से एक सामाजिक संस्था भी चलाते हैं। इन्हें वाटरमैन आफ इंडिया भी कहा जाता है।

1960 महान समाजवादी नेता, लेखक, दार्शनिक, चिंतक, कुशल वक्ता और संगठनकर्ता तथा राष्ट्र प्रमुख फिदेल कास्त्रो रुज के नेतृत्व वाली क्यूबा सरकार ने देश के सभी संपत्ति का राष्ट्रीयकरण किया।

1962 जमैका को ब्रिटेन की गुलामी से आजाद हुआ।

1964 अमेरिका के नेवादा में विश्व के सबसे पुराने वृक्ष प्रोमेथस को काटा गया। जांच के बाद इसकी उम्र 4,862 वर्ष बताई गई।

1966 अपने भाई, शेख शाहबुत बिन सुल्तान अल नाहयान को एक रक्तहीन तख्तापलट कार्रवाई में सत्ताच्युत कर शेख जायद बिन सुल्तान अल नाहयान अबूधाबी के अमीर और शासक बन गए।

1970 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय, अमेरिकी फिल्म निर्देशक एम. नाइट श्यामलन का जन्म हुआ।

1975 बेनी प्रसाद का जन्म बंगलौर में हुआ। बेनी प्रसिद्ध संगीतज्ञ, गिटारवादक हैं। उन्होंने बेंटार डिजाइन किया जो दुनिया का पहला बोंगो गिटार है। बेनी दुनिया के 245 देशों की यात्रा करने का कीर्तिमान स्थापित कर चुके हैं।

1980 एमटीवी वीजे, जाने माने हास्य - व्यंग्य कलाकार साइरस साहूकार का जन्म इंदौर में हुआ।

1982 प्रसिद्ध मलयालम साहित्यकार एस. के. पोट्टेक्काट्ट का निधन हुआ।

1986 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री और माॅडल और बिग बास 12 की विजेता दीपिका कक्कड़ का जन्म पुणे में हुआ। इसी दिन 1986 में मुंबई के जसलोक अस्पताल में सुबह के 3 बजकर 30 मिनट पर मणिबेन ने एक बेटी को जन्म दिया। ये भारत में टेस्ट ट्यूब तकनीक के जरिए जन्मा पहला बच्चा हुआ। 24 साल की मणि चावड़ा एक पार्ट टाइम टीचर थीं और उनके पति बॉम्बे म्युनिसिपल कॉर्पोरेशन में कर्मचारी थे। दोनों शादी के बाद कई सालों से मां-बाप बनने की कोशिश कर रहे थे, लेकिन किन्हीं वजहों से गर्भ धारण नहीं हो पाया। तब परखनली के जरिये बच्चा पैदा करने का प्रथम प्रयोग हुआ।

1987 जाने माने गायक उदित नारायण के पुत्र प्रसिद्ध गायक, अभिनेता, टेलीविजन प्रोग्रमा प्रस्तोता और संगीतज्ञ आदित्य नारायण का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1989 मिस भोपाल 2007, जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड टेलीविजन एवं फिल्म अभिनेत्री तथा माॅडल सारा खान का जन्म भोपाल में हुआ।

1990 खूबसूरत, बोल्ड, जानी मानी टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल आंचल खुराना का जन्म दिल्ली में हुआ। इसी दिन 1990 में कुवैत पर हमले की सजा के रूप में संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद ने इराक पर आर्थिक प्रतिबंध लगाने की घोषणा की। इसी दिन पाकिस्तान के राष्ट्रपति गुलाम इसाक खान ने बेनजीर भुट्टो को प्रधानमंत्री पद से हटा दिया।

1991 ब्रिटेन के प्रसिद्ध कंप्यूटर प्रोग्रामर टिम बर्नर्स-ली ने पहली बार इंटरनेट के माध्यम से इंटरलिंक, हाइपरटेक्स्ट डॉक्यूमेंटेबल प्रणाली प्रारंभ की, जिसे हम डब्ल्यूडब्ल्यूडब्ल्यू यानी वर्ल्ड वाइड वेब नाम से परिचित हैं।

1994 खूबसूरत, बोल्ड, जानी मानी पंजाबी फिल्म एवं टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री तथा माॅडल पारुल गुलाटी का जन्म रोहतक, हरियाणा में हुआ।

1996 अमेरिकी अंतरिक्ष एजेंसी नासा ने मंगल पर जीवन होने की संभावना जताई।

2000 फिजी के प्रधानमंत्री महेंद्र चौधरी का तख्ता पलटने के मामले में उपराष्ट्रपति जोपे सेनीलोली को 4 साल जेल की सजा सुनाई गई।

2001 भारत व ऑस्ट्रेलिया में आर्थिक समझौता हुआ।

2002 भारत और पाकिस्तान में तनाव के कारण ऑस्ट्रेलिया ने पाकिस्तान से अपने नागरिकों को वापस बुलाया।

2006 भारतीय राजनीतिज्ञ एवं दलित नेता सूरज भान का निधन हुआ।

2007 हंगरी के वैज्ञानिकों ने लगभग 80 लाख साल पुराने देवदार के वृक्ष का जीवाश्म खोजने का दावा किया। इसी दिन मध्य त्रिनिदाद में एक पुराने हिंदू मंदिर को क्षतिग्रस्त कर दिया गया।

2008 बंगाल सरकार ने टाटा समूह को सिंगूर से नैनो संयंत्र नहीं हटाने को राजी किया। उच्चतम न्यायालय ने कथित आतंक संगठन सिमी पर प्रतिबंध हटाने के विरुद्ध फैसले पर रोक इसी दिन लगाई। इसी दिन सरकारी कंपनी भारत हैवी इलेक्ट्रिकल्स लिमिटेड को आंध्र प्रदेश के कृष्णा पट्टनम में 880 मेगावाट का सुपर क्रिटिकल बॉयलर लगाने का ठेका मिला जो इस श्रेणी का पहला आर्डर था।

2010 जम्मू-कश्मीर में अचानक आई बाढ़ से कम से कम 255 लोग मारे गए। इसी दिन रूसी प्रधानमंत्री व्लादिमीर पुतिन ने सूखे के कारण पैदा परिस्थिति से निपटने के सिलसिले में 15 अगस्त से 31 दिसंबर तक आटा और गेहूं के निर्यात पर प्रतिबंध लगाया।

2011 थाईलैंड में प्यूइआ थाई दल की यिंगलुक शिनवात्रा देश की पहली महिला प्रधानमंत्री बनीं। इसी दिन 2011 में अफगानिस्तान के पूर्वी हिस्से में उत्तर अटलांटिक संधि संगठन यानी नाटो के हेलीकॉप्टर के दुर्घटनाग्रस्त होने से 31 अमेरिकी और सात अफगानी सैनिकों की मौत हो गई।

2012 अमेरिकी अंतरिक्ष एजेंसी नासा का क्यूरिओसिटी रोवर मंगल ग्रह पर पहुंचा।

2014 अमेरिका स्थित इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स उद्यम एप्पल इंक और कोरियाई कंपनी सैमसंग इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका के कोर्ट से अलग अपने पेटेंट विवाद निपटाने का फैसला किया।

2014 विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन सिएरा लियोन की व्यापारिक यात्रा के बाद सऊदी अरब के जेद्दा में मृत व्यक्ति के साथ इबोला वायरस से मरने वालों की संख्या 932 हो गई।

2018 भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस के प्रमुख नेता और राज्य सभा सांसद आर. के. धवन का निधन हुआ।

2019 भाजपा की प्रमुख महिला राजनेत्री, केंद्रीय मंत्री और दिल्ली की प्रथम महिला मुख्यमंत्री हुईं सुषमा स्वराज का देहांत हुआ।

2023 में रविवार को 6 अगस्त है। अगस्त के पहले रविवार को अमेरिका में अमेरिकी परिवार दिवस, कृषक प्रशंसा दिवस, मित्रता दिवस, अंतर्राष्ट्रीय क्षमा दिवस, राष्ट्रीय गुड़िया दिवस, राष्ट्रीय ताजा सांस दिवस, राष्ट्रीय गपशप दिवस, राष्ट्रीय बाल दिवस, राष्ट्रीय मानसिक दिवस और राष्ट्रीय बहन दिवस मनाए जाते हैं।

2023 हम भारत के लोग अगस्त के पहले रविवार को राष्ट्रीय मित्रता दिवस मना रहे हैं। इसके साथ अमेरिका सहित तमाम देशों में अगस्त के पहले रविवार को राष्ट्रीय मित्रता दिवस मनाए जाते हैं। 2011 में संयुक्त राष्ट्र ने आधिकारिक तौर पर 30 जुलाई को अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मित्रता दिवस के रूप में घोषित किया साथ ही इसे हर साल अलग थीम के साथ मनाने की भी तैयारी रखी। अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मित्रता दिवस 30 जुलाई 2023 का विषय था दोस्ती के माध्यम से मानवीय भावना को साझा करना, व्यक्तियों के बीच सार्थक संबंधों और सौहार्द को बढ़ावा देने पर ध्यान केंद्रित करना।

1180 Go Toba, the 82nd Emperor of Japan, is born in Heian-kyo.

In the 1506 Ketsk Tatar battle, Grand Duchy of Lithuania militias defeated the Tatars and emerged victorious.

1806 King Francis II of Italy abdicates the monarchy and the title of Roman Emperor. The work of converting the country into a democratic system started. Thus ended the so-called Holy Roman Empire after a millennium.

1825 Bolivia got independence from Peruvian slavery.

1890 William Kemmler is executed by electrocution in the electric chair at Auburn Prison, New York. William had killed a woman with an axe. This was the first case when someone was sentenced to death by electric chair.

1906 Famous Indian freedom fighter Chittaranjan Das and other Congress leaders together started the publication of Vande Mataram newspaper.

1914 Austria declares war on Russia.

1915 Gurdial Singh Dhillon, fifth Indian Lok Sabha Speaker, was born.

1921 Governor of Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh, freedom fighter K. M. Chandy was born.

1925 Sir Surendranath Banerjee, influential leader of the Indian National Congress, passed away.

1926 American swimmer Gertrude Ederle becomes the first woman to swim across the English Channel.

1930 New York City Judge Joseph Force Crater mysteriously disappears and is not found for a long time, earning him the title of The Missing Man in New York.

1933 Famous Indian cricketer A.G. Kirpal Singh was born.

1944 Avinash Karmakar Dixit, noted Indian-American economist, was born in Bombay.

1945 In a terrible act against man, animal and earth, the US dropped the atomic bomb on Little Boy Hiroshima, the first powerful bomb attack, killing some 140,000 people and destroying and disfiguring a large area. He is also called Waterman of India.

1960 The Cuban government led by Fidel Castro Ruz, the great socialist leader, writer, philosopher, thinker, skilled speaker and organizer and head of state, nationalized all the property of the country.

1962 Jamaica was freed from British slavery.

1964 Prometheus, the world's oldest tree, was cut down in Nevada, USA. After investigation, its age was told to be 4,862 years.

1966 Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan becomes Emir and ruler of Abu Dhabi, overthrowing his brother, Sheikh Shahbut bin Sultan Al Nahyan, in a bloodless coup d'état.

1970 M. Night Shyamalan, noted Indian-American film director, was born.

1975 Beni Prasad was born in Bangalore. Benny is a famous musician, guitarist. He designed the Bentar, the world's first bongo guitar. Benny has set a record of traveling to 245 countries of the world.

1980 MTV VJ, noted comedian Cyrus Sahukar was born in Indore.

1982 Renowned Malayalam writer S. Of. Pottekkatt passed away.

1986 Dipika Kakkar, well-known beautiful, bold television actress and model and winner of Bigg Boss 12, was born in Pune. On the same day in 1986, Maniben gave birth to a daughter at 3.30 am at Jaslok Hospital in Mumbai. He was the first child born through test tube technology in India. Mani Chavda, 24, was a part-time teacher and her husband was an employee of the Bombay Municipal Corporation. Both were trying to become parents for many years after marriage, but could not conceive due to some reasons. Then the first experiment to produce a child through test tube took place.

1987 Aditya Narayan, famous singer, actor, television program presenter and musician, son of noted singer Udit Narayan, was born in Bombay.

1989 Miss Bhopal 2007, well known beautiful, bold television and film actress and model Sara Khan was born in Bhopal.

1990 Beautiful, bold, well-known television actress and model Aanchal Khurana was born in Delhi. On this day in 1990, the United Nations Security Council announced economic sanctions on Iraq as punishment for the invasion of Kuwait. On the same day, the President of Pakistan, Ghulam Isaak Khan, removed Benazir Bhutto from the post of Prime Minister.

1991 Britain's famous computer programmer Tim Berners-Lee first started the interlink, hypertext documentary system through the Internet, which we are familiar with as WWW ie World Wide Web.

1994 Beautiful, bold, well-known Punjabi film and television actress and model Parul Gulati was born in Rohtak, Haryana.

1996 The US space agency NASA raised the possibility of life on Mars.

2000 Vice President Joppe Seniloli sentenced to 4 years in prison for the overthrow of Fiji's Prime Minister Mahendra Chaudhary.

In 2001, an economic agreement was signed between India and Australia.

2002 Australia recalled its citizens from Pakistan due to tensions between India and Pakistan.

2006 Suraj Bhan, Indian politician and Dalit leader, passed away.

2007 Hungarian scientists claim to have found fossils of a pine tree about 8 million years old. On the same day an old Hindu temple was vandalized in central Trinidad.

2008 Bengal government persuades Tata group not to shift Nano plant from Singur. On the same day, the Supreme Court stayed the decision against lifting the ban on alleged terror outfit SIMI. On the same day, state-owned Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited bagged the first order of its category to install an 880 MW supercritical boiler at Krishnapatnam in Andhra Pradesh.

2010 Flash floods in Jammu and Kashmir kill at least 255 people. On the same day, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin banned the export of flour and wheat from 15 August to 31 December in a bid to deal with the situation caused by the drought.

In 2011, Yingluck Shinawatra of the Puia Thai party became the country's first female prime minister. On the same day in 2011, 31 American and seven Afghan soldiers were killed when a North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) helicopter crashed in the eastern part of Afghanistan.

2012 The Curiosity rover of the American space agency NASA reached Mars.

The death toll from the Ebola virus rose to 932 with a man dead in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia after a 2014 World Health Organization business trip to Sierra Leone.

2018 Prominent leader of the Indian National Congress and Rajya Sabha MP R. Of. Dhawan passed away.

2019: Sushma Swaraj, a prominent woman politician of the BJP, Union Minister and the first woman Chief Minister of Delhi, passed away.
