987 ह्यूग कैपेट फ्रांस के राजा और कैपेटियन राजवंश का आगाज हुआ। इस राजवंश ने 1792 में फ्रांसीसी क्रांति तक फ्रांस में शासन किया।

1350 हिंदू धर्म के वारकरी संप्रदाय के संत और भक्तकवि नामदेव का महाराष्ट्र के पंढरपुर में निधन हुआ। उनके आध्यात्मिक उपदेशों के अनुसार सामान्य गृहस्थ जीवन जीते हुए भी मोक्ष प्राप्त किया जा सकता है।

1760 सदाशिव राव भाऊ और विश्वास राव के नेतृत्व में मराठा सेना ने दिल्ली पर कब्जा कर लिया। सदाशिव राव भाऊ पेशवा बाजी राव प्रथम के भतीजे थे। उन्होंने पानीपत की तीसरी लड़ाई में मराठा सेना के सेनापति के रूप में कार्य किया। पानीपत की तीसरी लड़ाई में लड़ते हुए उनकी मृत्यु हो गई। विश्वास राव बालाजी बाजी राव के सबसे बड़े पुत्र थे। पानीपत के तीसरे युद्ध में सबसे चरम लड़ाई के दौरान उनकी भी मृत्यु हो गई।

1616 मुगल बादशाह शाह जहाँ के बेटे शाह शुजा का जन्म हुआ।

1661 पुर्तगाल ने बंबई ब्रिटिश राजा चार्ल्स द्वितीय को उपहार में दी।

1751 स्वीडन के विख्यात रसायनशास्त्री और खदान विशेषज्ञ फ्रेडरिक क्रोंस्टलर ने निकेल नामक धातु का पता लगाने लगाने की घोषणा की।

1760 मराठा सेना ने दिल्ली पर कब्जा किया।

1886 न्यूयॉर्क ट्रिब्यून अखबार छापने के लिए मशीन का इस्तेमाल करने वाला पहला अखबार बना।

1908 ब्रिटिश सरकार ने स्वतंत्रता सेनानी और पत्रकार बाल गंगाधर तिलक को गिरफ्तार किया।

1912 विख्यात भारतीय विधि विशेषज्ञ और सुप्रीम कोर्ट के जज रहे हंसराज खन्ना का जन्म अमृतसर में हुआ।

1918 दक्षिण भारत के प्रमुख, लोकप्रिय फिल्म अभिनेता, निर्माता और निर्देशक समारला वेंकट रंगा राव का जन्म राजमहेंद्रावरम में हुआ।

1928 लंदन में पहली बार रंगीन टेलीविजन कार्यक्रम का प्रसारण जॉन लेगी बेयर्ड ने किया।

1934 बैंक ऑफ कनाडा अधिनियम कनाडा में पारित किया गया

1941 विख्यात भारतीय फिल्मकार अडूर गोपालकृष्णन का जन्म हुआ।

1962 विख्यात अमेरिकी अभिनेता टॉम हैंक्स का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन फ्रांस सरकार ने अलजीरिया की आजादी की घोषणा की।

1967 शेखर कपूर की बहुचर्चित फिल्म बैंडिट क्वीन से अपना फिल्म कैरियर शुरु करने वाले प्रभावशाली फिल्म निर्देश, लेखक, अभिनेता और फिल्म निर्माता तिग्मांशु धूलिया का जन्म इलाहाबाद में हुआ।

1971 अमेरिकी सरकार की काली करतूतों को उजागर कर अमेरिका को हिला देने वाले विख्यात पत्रकार और मीडिया वेबसाइट विकीलीक्स के संस्थापक जूलियन असांजे का जन्म हुआ। प्रसिद्ध अमेरिकी संगीत रॉक बैंड द डोर्स के प्रसिद्ध गायक जिम मॉरिसन का निधन 1971 में इसी दिन हुआ।

1979 कलकत्ता का दूसरा हावड़ा ब्रिज कहा जाने वाला विद्यासागर सेतु का निर्माण शुरू हुआ। विद्यासागर पुल हुगली नदी पर बना टोल ब्रिज है। कोलकाता और कई शहरों को जोड़ता है। आठ सौ तेईस मीटर की लंबाई विद्यासागर सेतु भारत का सबसे लंबा केबल स्टे ब्रिज है और एशिया में सबसे लंबा पुल है।

1980 मशहूर क्रिकेटर हुए वर्तमान में आम आदमी पार्टी के राज्य सभा सदस्य हरभजन सिंह का जन्म जालंधर में हुआ।

1986 जानी मानी रियलिटी शो अभिनेत्री, काॅमेडियन, द कपिल शर्मा शो की प्रमुख कलाकार भारती सिंह का जन्म अमृतसर में हुआ। इसी दिन जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल कृतिका सेंगर का जन्म कानपुर में हुआ।

1989 सोवियत संघ के पूर्व विदेश मंत्री और राष्ट्रपति आंद्रेई ग्रोमिको का निधन हुआ।

1991 दक्षिण भारतीय सिनेमा की जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड, लोकप्रिय अभिनेत्री और माॅडल तेजस्वी मादीवडा का जन्म हैदराबाद में हुआ।

1990 सऊदी अरब स्थित मुस्लिमों के धार्मिक स्थल मक्का से मीना जाने वाली सुरंग में भगदड़ मचने से 1,426 हज यात्रियों की मौत।

1992 ब्राजील के प्रमुख शहर रियो डि जेनेरियो में पृथ्वी सम्मेलन की शुरुआत हुई।

1996 हिंदी फिल्मों के मशहूर अभिनेता राजकुमार का निधन हुआ। उन्होंने संवाद अदायगी के अपने अनूठे अंदाज के चलते रूपहले पर्दे पर अपनी एक खास जगह बनाई।

1999 कुवैत में 50 सदस्यीय संसदीय चुनाव सम्पन्न हुए।

2019 केंद्रीय मंत्रिमंडल ने सार्वजनिक-निजी भागीदारी (पीपीपी) के तहत भारतीय विमानपत्तन प्राधिकरण (एएआई) के तीन प्रमुख हवाई अड्डों- अहमदाबाद, लखनऊ और मंगलुरु को गौतम अडानी की कंपनी को दे दिया। 2019 में इसी दिन भारतीय मूल के अमेरिकी सिख गुरिंदर सिंह खालसा के जीवन पर बनी लघु फिल्म सिंह को मोंटाना में आयोजित कोवेलिट इंटरनेशनल फिल्म फेस्टिवल में शॉर्ट फिल्म ऑफ द इयर पुरस्कार मिला। बीके बिड़ला ग्रुप ऑफ कंपनीज के चेयरमैन बसंत कुमार बिड़ला का निधन हुआ।

2020 बॉलीवुड की मशहूर कोरियोग्राफर सरोज खान का 71 की उम्र में दिल का दौरा पड़ने से निधन हुआ।
