1420 ऑस्ट्रिया और सीरिया से यहूदियों को निकाल बाहर किया गया।

1592 वियेना में इटली के विश्व प्रसिद्ध खगोलविद जिओरडनो ब्रूनो को गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया, क्योंकि बताया था कि पृथ्वी सूरज के चारों ओर घूमती है, न कि सूरज पृथ्वी के चारों ओर घूमता है। ब्रूनो की इस मान्यता को धर्म-विरुद्ध हरकत माना गया।

1785 विख्यात अमेरिकी विचारक, राजनेता, आविष्कारक बेंजामिन फ्रेंकलिन ने एक पत्र में लिखा कि उसका आविष्कार द्विभाषी था।

1788 दक्षिण कैरोलिना को आठवें राज्य के रूप में अमेरिकी संविधान में शामिल किया गया।

1844 बहाई सम्प्रदाय के धर्मगुरु सैयद अली मुहम्मद शीराजी ने 24 साल की उम्र में ईरान में अवतार होने का दावा किया। देश की सरकार ने उन्हें मौत की सजा दी।

1848 राइट बंधुओं से भी पहले ग्लाइडर बनाकर इंसान को पहली बार उड़ना सिखाने वाले जर्मन एविएटर ओटो लिलिएनथाल का जन्म हुआ।

1879 विख्यात रूसी लेखक इवान तुर्गेनेव को ऑक्सफोर्ड विश्वविद्यालय ने नागरिक कानून में डॉक्टरेट की उपाधि दी। वे दुनिया के ऐसे पहले लेखक थे, जिसे यह सम्मान दिया गया था। इसी दिन आयोवा स्टेट यूनिवर्सिटी ने पहली बार अमेरिका में पशु चिकित्सा स्कूल स्थापित किया।

1901 अमेरिकी सेना ने फिलिपिनो के विद्रोही नेता एमिलियो एग्यूनाल्डो पर विजय प्राप्त की।

1904वियेना आॅस्ट्रिया में पहली कुश्ती विश्व चैम्पियनशिप का आयोजन किया गया।

1915 प्रथम विश्व युद्ध के समय इटली ने ऑस्ट्रिया, हंगरी तथा जर्मनी के विरुद्ध युद्ध की घोषणा की।

1919 जयपुर राजघराने की राजमाता प्रसिद्ध महारानी और राजा सवाई मान सिंह की पत्नी गायत्री देवी का जन्म लंदन में हुआ। वे बहुत ठाठ-बाट से रहती थीं और अंग्रेजी संस्कृति से प्रभावित, फैशनेबल थीं।

1923 जाने माने भारतीय इतिहासकार रंजीत गुहा का जन्म हुआ। दक्षिण ऐशिया के प्रमुख इतिहासकारों में से एक गुहा भारत से ब्रिटेन गये, ससेक्स विवि में प्रोफेसर रहे बाद में विएना, आॅस्ट्रिया में बस गये। इसी दिन बेल्जियम ने सेवना एयरलाइंस बनाया।

1926 फ्रांस की सेना ने मोरक्को राइफल्स राजधानी पर कब्जा किया।

1930 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय इतिहासकार तथा पुरातत्त्ववेत्ता राखालदास बंद्योपाध्याय का निधन हुआ।

1939 ब्रिटेन की संसद में फिलीस्तीन को 1949 तक स्वतंत्र कराने की योजना प्रस्तुत की गई।

1945 जर्मन तानाशाह एडोल्फ हिटलर के वरिष्ठतम सहयोगी, यहूदियों के नरसंहार अभियान के प्रमुख और पुलिस, फौज सहित खुफिया सेवा के प्रधान हेनरिख हिमलर ने अंतरराष्ट्रीय संयुक्त सेनाओं की हिरासत में आने के बाद साइनाइड जहर खाकर आत्महत्या कर ली। हेनरिख के निर्देशन में लाखों यहूदियों को बर्बर यातानाएं दी गईं और नरसंहार किया गया।

1948 आईएएस अधिकारी विनोद राय का जन्म हुआ, जिन्होंने भारत के 11वें नियंत्रक एवं महालेखा परीक्षक के रूप में कार्य किया। और टूजी स्पेक्ट्रम और कोयला घोटाले जैसे मामले उठाकर यूपीए सरकार को भ्रष्टाचार के लिए बदनाम किया। कांग्रेस सरकार को बदनाम करने और मोदी, भाजपा के पक्ष में माहौल तैयार करने में यह एक बड़े टूल बने।

1949 पेरू के राष्ट्रपति हुए एक चर्चित राजनेता ऐलन गार्सिया का जन्म हुआ।

1951 चीन ने स्वायत्त क्षेत्र के रूप में तिब्बत पर कब्जा कर लिया। तिब्बती धर्मगुरु दलाई लामा और हजारों तिब्बतियों ने भागकर भारत में शरण ली।

1960 इजराइल ने अर्जेंटीना में जर्मनी शासित हिटलर सरकार के यहूदी विरोधी अफसर एडॉल्फ इकमैन को पकड़ने की घोषणा की।

1977 उत्तरी मलूका मूल के चरमपंथियों ने उत्तरी हालैंड के एक प्राथमिक स्कूल और एक ट्रेन में घुसकर बहुत से लोगों को बंधक बना लिया। कमांडो कार्रवाई के जरिए इस संकट को सुलझाने में बीस दिन का समय लगा

1986 खूबसूरत, बोल्ड जानी मानी मराठी फिल्म तथा टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री तथा माॅडल तेजस्विनी पंडित का जन्म पुणे में हुआ और इसी दिन अमेरिका और पश्चिमी यूरोपीय देशों ने दक्षिण अफ्रीका के खिलाफ भारी प्रतिबंधों के प्रस्ताव पर वीटो किया।

1988 सुगंधा मिश्रा के नाम से सुपरिचित, खूबसूरत, बोल्ड फिल्म एवं टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री, हास्य कलाकार, रेडियो जाॅकी, टेलीविजन प्रस्तोता, गायिका और माॅडल सुगंधा संतोष मिश्रा का जन्म जालंधर में हुआ।

1990 कछुआ दिवस मनाने की शुरुआत हुई। कछुओं की अलग-अलग प्रजातियों को बचाने के मकसद से एक गैर-लाभकारी संगठन अमेरिकन टॉर्टवायज रेस्क्यु की स्थापना की गई। इस संगठन का मुख्य उद्देश्य विश्वभर के कछुओं का संरक्षण है। कछुआ खरीदना-बेचना दंडनीय अपराध है।

1991 खूबसूरत, बोल्ड, बहुप्रतिभावान, लोकप्रिय कन्नड़ फिल्म अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल संयुक्ता हर्नाड का जन्म का जन्म हुआ।

1994 सऊदी अरब के मक्का में भगदड़ से 270 तीर्थयात्रियों की मौत हुई।

1995 कंप्यूटर प्रोग्रामिंग भाषा जावा को आधिकारिक तौर पर लॉन्च किया गया।

2001 पाकिस्तान ने भारत को मोस्ट फेवरिट नेशन का दर्जा देने से पुनः इंकार किया।

2004 बांग्लादेश में तूफान के कारण मेघना नदी में नाव डूबने से 250 डूबे। इसी दिन सिंगापुर में जहाज के टैंकर से टकराने के कारण 4000 कारें डूबी।

2008 भारत ने सतह से सतह पर मार करने वाली मिसाइल पृथ्वी-2 का सफलतापूर्वक परीक्षण किया। इसी दिन अंतर्राष्ट्रीय संस्था इण्टरनेशनल आर्गेनाइजेशन फॉर स्ट्रेंड्राइजेशन द्वारा डिस्टिलरी को आईएसओ 9001 का प्रमाण पत्र प्रदान किया गया। इसी दिन नेपाल के राजा ज्ञानेन्द्र नारायणहिती महल से बेदखल हुए। इसी दिन सोमालिया के समुद्री अपहर्ताओं ने भारतीय कर्मियों वाला जहाज छोड़ा। इसी दिन पाकिस्तानी राष्ट्रपति परवेज मुशर्रफ ने सत्तारुढ़ पाकिस्तान पीपुल्स पार्टी से संबंध समाप्त किये।

2010 प्रमुख वामपंथी नेता, चिंतक और नक्सलबाड़ी आंदोलन के प्रणेता कानू सान्याल का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन कान्स फिल्म समारोह में अपिचातपॉन्ग वीरासेताकुल निर्देशित थाईलैंड की फिल्म अंकल बोनमी हू कैन रिकॉल हिज पास्ट लाइव्स को सबसे बड़े पुरस्कार पाम ड’ओर से सम्मानित किया गया। इसी दिन 2010 में सुप्रीम कोर्ट के मुख्य न्यायाधीश के.जी. बालाकृष्णन की अध्यक्षता में भारत के उच्चतम न्यायालय की तीन सदस्यीय खंडपीठ ने बिना विवाह किये महिला और पुरुष का एक साथ रहना अर्थात लिव इन रिलेशन को अपराध की श्रेणी से बाहर किया। प्रसिद्ध तेलुगु चलचित्र गीतकार वेतुरी सुंदरम्मा मूर्ति का निधन हुआ।

2014 रूस और चीन ने सीरिया में युद्ध अपराधों के लिए अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अपराध न्यायालय की स्थापना के लिए संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद में वीटो शक्ति का प्रयोग किया।

2016 भारतीय अंतरिक्ष शोध संस्थान इसरो ने आंध्र प्रदेश के श्रीहरिकोटा स्थित स्पेस सेंटर से पूरी तरह से भारत में बने स्पेस शटल किया आरएलवी-टीडी लॉन्च किया।

2019 आम चुनावों में भाजपा ने प्रचंड बहुमत से जीत हासिल की। नरेन्द्र मोदी लगातार दूसरी बार भारत के प्रधानमंत्री बने।

2020 कोरोना वायरस के संक्रमितों की संख्या भारत में सवा लाख से अधिक हुई। इस बीमारी से मरने वालों की संख्या 3720 हुई बताई गई।
