1250 सातवें धर्मयुद्ध.में मिस्र के शासक अय्यूब ने धर्मयुद्ध सेना को हरा कर फ्रांस के राजा लुई नौवें को बंधक बना लिया।

1320 स्कॉटलैंड की स्वतंत्रता की घोषणा की गई।

1606 अकबर के शहजादे सलीम यानी मुगल शासक जहांगीर के बेटे राजकुमार खुसरो ने अपने पिता से बगावत की।

1652 प्रसिद्ध डच नाविक, यात्री और खोजी जान वैन रिबेक ने दक्षिण अफ्रीका में पहली स्थायी यूरोपीय बस्ती की स्थापना की, जिसे बाद में केप टाउन के रूप में जाना गया। केप टाउन दक्षिण अफ्रीका की राजधानी है। केप टाउन आज दक्षिण अफ्रीका का दूसरा सबसे ज्यादा जनसंख्या वाला शहर है। यह वेस्टर्न केप की राजधानी है। यहां दक्षिण अफ्रीका का संसद भवन है। केप टाउन बंदरगाह, पर्वत और बाग आदि के लिए प्रसिद्ध है। टेबल मांउटेन, टेबल माउंटेन नेशनल पार्क, टेबल माउंटेन रोपवे, केप ऑफ गुड आदि विश्व प्रसिद्ध स्थान हैं।

1664 सिख गुरु हर किशन का निधन हुआ।

1734 प्रसिद्ध मराठा सेना नायक सदाशिव राव भाऊ की दूसरी पत्नी ग्रह प्रबंधन में कुशल पार्बतीबाई का जन्म सतारा जिले फाल्टन में हुआ।

1672 फ्रांस ने नीदरलैंड के खिलाफ युद्ध की घोषणा की।

1808 कारोबारी जॉन जैकब एस्टोर ने अमेरिकन फर कंपनी की स्थापना की। इससे एस्टोर पहले करोड़पति बने।

1849 ब्रिटिश शासित भारत के प्रमुख न्यायाधीश, चिंतक, इतिहासकार, लेखक, राजनेता सईद अमीर अली का जन्म कटक में हुआ।

1886 हैदराबाद के आखिरी निजाम मीर उस्मान अली खान का जन्म हुआ।

1889 अमेरिकन कारोबारी जॉर्ज ईस्टमैन ने पहली बार कोडक फिल्म को बेचने का काम शुरू किया।

1890 साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कार प्राप्त करने वाले इश्क और मोहब्बत की शायरी के लिए मशहूर उर्दू शायर जिगर मुरादाबादी यानी अली सिकंदर का जन्म मुरादाबाद में हुआ।

1896 आधुनिक अंतरराष्ट्रीय ओलंपिक खेल यूनान की राजधानी एथेंस में प्रारंभ हुए यह खेल रोमन सम्राट थिडोसियस द्वारा प्राचीन ओलंपिक खेलों पर रोक लगाए जाने के 1500 साल बाद दोबारा अस्तित्व में आए।

1906 विश्व कुख्यात महिला जासूस वर्जीनिया हाल का जन्म बाल्टीमोर, अमेरिका में हुआ।

1909 तमिलनाडु के विख्यात समाज सेवी, शिक्षा प्रसारक और कारोबारी, पद्मभूषण सम्मान पाने वाले सर अलगप्पा चेट्टियार का जन्म कोट्टइयूर में हुआ। इसी दिन अमेरिकी नागरिक मैथ्यू हैंसन और राबर्ट पियेरी ने पहली बार उत्तरी ध्रुव पर पहुंचने का दावा किया।

1917 प्रथम विश्व युद्ध में अमेरिका ने जर्मनी के खिलाफ युद्ध की घोषणा की।

1919 रोलेट एक्ट के खिलाफ शुरू किए गए सविनय अवज्ञा आंदोलन के तहत महात्मा गांधी ने पहली अखिल भारतीय हड़ताल का आह्वान किया।

1924 इटली में फासिस्टों ने चुनाव में भारी जीत हासिल की। इसके बाद बेनीटो मुसोलिनी तानाशाह शासक हुआ। क्रूर जर्मन तानाशाह एडोल्फ हिटलर के मित्र मुसोलिनी ने जनता का बहुत दमन किया। 

1925 विमान में पहली बार फिल्म दिखाई गई। यह विमान ब्रिटिश एयरवेज का था।

1928 को जेम्स डी. वाटसन का शिकागो, इलिनोइस में जन्म हुआ। वाटसन विख्यात अमेरिकी जीवाणु वैज्ञानिक हुए हैं। वे डी.एन.ए. बनावट मालूम करने हेतु जाने जाते हैं। उन्हे इस महत्वपूर्ण शोध के लिए फ्रैन्सिस क्रिक और मॉरिस विल्किंस के साथ नोबल पुरुस्कार दिया गया।

1929 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय राजनीतिज्ञ प्यारेलाल खंडेलवाल का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन प्रसिद्ध हिंदी सेवी और प्रकाशक महाशय राजपाल का निधन हुआ। 

1931 बंगाल की मधुबाला नाम से मशहूर खूबसूरत, बोल्ड फिल्म अभिनेत्री तथा माॅडल सुचित्रा सेन का जन्म हुआ। सुचित्रा सेन ने हिंदी सिनेमा में अपने करियर की शुरुआत विमल रॉय की फिल्म देवदास से की थी। उन्होंने एक के बाद एक फिल्मों में अपने अभिनय से करोड़ों लोगों को अपना दीवाना बनाया। 1963 मॉस्को इंटरनेशनल फिल्म फेस्टिवल में वे सर्वश्रेष्ठ अभिनेत्री चुनी गईं। किसी भी विदेशी पुरस्कार को पाने वाली सुचित्रा सेन पहली भारतीय अभिनेत्री हैं।

1936 एएनपी कंपनी ने एम्स्टर्डम में पहली टेलेक्स सेवा शुरू की।

1938 पॉल डेनियल के नाम से विख्यात ब्रिटिश पेशेवर रूप से अंग्रेजी जादूगर और टेलीविजन प्रस्तोता न्यूटन एडवर्ड डेनियल साउथ बैंक, इंग्लैंड में जन्म हुआ। उन्होंने अपनी टेलीविजन श्रृंखला द पॉल डेनियल मैजिक शो के माध्यम से अंतरराष्ट्रीय ख्याति प्राप्त की, जो 1979 से 1994 तक बीबीसी पर चला।

1942 जापानी लड़ाकू विमानों ने पहली बार भारत पर बम गिराए। 6 अप्रैल शाम 5 बजे जापानी विमानों ने विशाखापट्टनम पर हमला कर दिया।

1955 उत्तर प्रदेश के सैफई में शिव पाल सिंह यादव का जन्म हुआ। वे समाजवादी पार्टी के संस्थापक मुलायम सिंह यादव के भाई, राजनेता और सपा विधायक हैं। इसी दिन अमेरिका ने परमाणु परीक्षण किया।

1956 भारत के प्रसिद्ध क्रिकेटर हुए दिलीप वेंगसरकर का जन्म हुआ।

1957 सोवियत संघ ने परमाणु परीक्षण किया।

1962 जाने माने भारतीय जनता पार्टी नेता संजय जोशी का जन्म नागपुर में हुआ।

1963 वियतनाम के ट्रांग बैंग में फान थो किम फुक ओओन्ट का जन्म हुआ। फान को अनौपचारिक रूप से तस्वीर में नेपाली लड़की के रूप में संदर्भित किया गया, लेकिन वह एक दक्षिण वियतनामी मूल की कनाडाई लड़की थी जिसे पुलित्जर पुरस्कार विजेता तस्वीर में चित्रित नौ वर्षीय बच्चे के रूप में जाना जाता है, जिसका शीर्षक द टेरर ऑफ वॉर 8 जून 1972 को वियतनाम युद्ध के दौरान ट्रांग बंग में लिया गया। फान विख्यात शांति कार्यकत्री हैं।

1973 प्रसिद्ध तमिल फिल्म अभिनेता, कारोबारी एवं माॅडल प्रशांत त्यागराजन का जन्म मद्रास में हुआ।

1979 नेपाली राजशाही की जनविरोधी नीतियों के खिलाफ नेपाली छात्रों के शासन विरोधी उग्र आंदोलन के फलस्वरूप बहुदलीय व्यवस्था पर जनमत संग्रह कराने के लिए राजतंत्र मजबूर हुआ।

1980 राष्ट्रीय स्वयं सेवक संघ की राजनीतिक इकाई जनसंघ के स्थान पर भारतीय जनता पार्टी की स्थापना हुई।

1982 बाॅलीवुड की फिल्म निर्मात्री कंपनी लव फिल्म्स के मालिक, निर्माता और कारोबारी अंकुर गर्ग का गाजियाबाद में जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन दक्षिण अटलांटिक महासागर में स्थित उपनिवेश फाकलैंड पर अर्जेंटीना ने अधिकार किया।

1985 विश्व विख्यात चित्रकार पाब्लो पिकासो के समकालीन प्रसिद्ध चित्रकार मार्क शागल का पेरिस में देहांत हुआ।

1996 जाने माने भारतीय टेलीविजन एवं फिल्म अभिनेता तथा माॅडल रोहित सुचंती का जन्म मुंबई में हुआ।

1998 पाकिस्तान ने मध्यम दूरी मिसाइल गौरी बैलिस्टिक का सफलतापूर्वक परीक्षण किया।

1999 नेपाल ने फिर से पांच सौ रुपये के भारतीय नोट चलाने की घोषणा की।

2000 कराची की एक अदालत ने आतंकवाद व विमान अपहरण के मामले में अपदस्थ प्रधानमंत्री नवाज शरीफ को उम्रकैद की सजा सुनाई। इसी दिन प्रसिद्ध पाकिस्तानी क्रिकेटर शाहीन आफरीदी का जन्म खैबर पख्तूनख्वाह में हुआ।

2001 हरियाणा के मुख्यमंत्री तथा भारत के उप प्रधानमंत्री रहे चौधरी देवी लाल का निधन हुआ।

2003 उत्तरी होंडुरास की जेल में हुए दंगे के कारण 86 कैदी मारे गये।

2005 अमेरिका द्वारा इराक को बर्बाद करने के बाद हुए चुनाव में अमेरिका समर्थित कुर्द नेता जलाल तालाबानी इराक के नये राष्ट्रपति चुने गए।

2006 लिथुआनिया के राष्ट्रपति रोलैंडस पक्कास महाभियोग द्वारा पद से हटाए जाने वाले पहले यूरोपीय राष्ट्रध्यक्ष बने।

2007 प्रख्यात बांग्ला लेखिका लीला मजूमदार का निधन हुआ।

2008 केन्द्र की संयुक्त प्रगतिशील गठबंधन (संप्रग) सरकार के मंत्रिमंडल में सात नए मंत्री शामिल किये गये। इसी दिन श्रीलंका के तमिलों के उग्रपंथी संगठन लिबरेशन टाइगर्स आॅफ तमिल इलम यानी लिट्टे के आत्मघाती हमले में राजमार्ग मंत्री जयराज फर्नाडोपुल्ले समेत 12 लोग मारे गये। इसी दिन इथोपिया की एक अदालत ने पांच शीर्ष अधिकारियों को एक हवाई हमले में दोषी पाते हुए पांच वर्ष की सजा सुनाई।

2009 इटली में आये 6.3 तीव्रता वाले जबरदस्त भूकंप के कारण लगभग 258 लोगों की मौत।

2010 भारतीय वित्त मंत्री प्रणब मुखर्जी और भारत दौरे पर आए अमेरिकी वित्त मंत्री टिमोथी गेथनर ने आर्थिक साझेदारी के समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किए। इसी दिन वैज्ञानिकों ने तीन नई पशु प्रजातियों की खोज की घोषणा जो ऑक्सीजन के बिना अपना पूरा जीवन बिताते हैं, यह प्रजातियां फाइलम लोरिकिफेरा हैं।

2012 ब्रिटिश संसद ने तंबाकू उत्पादों के प्रदर्शन एवं प्रचार पर प्रतिबंध लगाया।

2013 इराक के बकूबा में चुनाव प्रचार के दौरान हुए एक आत्मघाती बम धमाके में 22 लोगों की मौत हो गयी तथा 60 अन्य घायल हो गये। 2013 में इसी दिन भारत की राही सरनोबत ने दक्षिण कोरिया के चांगवान में आयोजित अंतरराष्ट्रीय निशानेबाजी खेल परिसंघ विश्व कप प्रतियोगिता की 25 मीटर पिस्टल स्पर्धा में स्वर्ण पदक जीता। इसी दिन अफ्रीकी देश नाइजीरिया के मिदलू गांव में हुए हमले में 11 लोगों की मौत हो गई।

2014 प्रसिद्ध अमेरिकी फिल्म अभिनेता मिकी रूनी का 93 वर्ष की आयु में निधन हुआ।

2020 कोरोना वायरस संक्रमण से दुनिया भर में 70 हजार से ज्यादा लोगों की मौत की खबर और भारत में संक्रमितों का आंकड़ा साढ़े चार हजार के पार पहुंचा।

1931 Suchitra Sen, beautiful, bold film actress and model known as Madhubala of Bengal, was born. Suchitra Sen started her career in Hindi cinema with Vimal Roy's film Devdas. Suchitra Sen is the first Indian actress to receive any foreign award.

1957 Soviet Union conducts nuclear test.

1962 Sanjay Joshi, noted Bharatiya Janata Party leader, was born in Nagpur.

1963 Phan Tho Kim Phuc Oont was born in Trang Bang, Vietnam. Phan was informally referred to as the Nepalese girl in the photograph, but she was a South Vietnamese-born Canadian girl known as the nine-year-old child depicted in the Pulitzer Prize-winning photograph titled The Terror of War. Taken in Trang Bang in June 1972 during the Vietnam War. Phan is a well-known peace activist.

1966 Indian swimmer Mihir Sen swam across the Palk Strait.

1970 Indrani Dutta, beautiful, bold Bengali film actress, Trityangana and model, was born in Calcutta.

1971 Sanjay Suri, famous Bollywood actor, was born.

1973 Prashant Thiagarajan, famous Tamil film actor, businessman and model, was born in Madras.

1979 Nepalese monarchy was forced to hold a plebiscite on multi-party system as a result of fierce anti-government movement of Nepalese students against the anti-people policies of the Nepalese monarchy.

1980 The Bharatiya Janata Party was established in place of the Jana Sangh, the political unit of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

1982 Ankur Garg, owner, producer and businessman of Bollywood film production company Luv Films, was born in Ghaziabad. On this day, Argentina took possession of the colony Falkland located in the South Atlantic Ocean.

1985 Famous painter Marc Chagall, a contemporary of world famous painter Pablo Picasso, died in Paris.

1996 Rohit Suchanti, Indian television and film actor and model, was born in Mumbai.

1998 Pakistan successfully tests medium-range missile Gauri Ballistic.

1999 Nepal again announced to run Indian notes of five hundred rupees.

2000 A court in Karachi sentenced ousted Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to life imprisonment in the case of terrorism and plane hijacking. On this day famous Pakistani cricketer Shaheen Afridi was born in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

2001 Chief Minister of Haryana and Deputy Prime Minister of India Chaudhary Devi Lal passed away.

2003 Prison riot in northern Honduras kills 86 inmates.

2005 US-backed Kurdish leader Jalal Talabani is elected Iraq's new president in elections held after the US annexation of Iraq.

2006 Rolandas Pakskas, President of Lithuania, becomes the first European head of state to be removed from office by impeachment.

2007 Eminent Bengali writer Leela Majumdar passed away.

2008 Seven new ministers were included in the cabinet of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government at the Center. On the same day, 12 people, including Highways Minister Jayaraj Fernandopulle, were killed in a suicide attack by the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), a militant organization of Sri Lankan Tamils. On the same day, an Ethiopian court sentenced five top officials to five years in prison after finding them guilty of an airstrike.
