1768 एनसाइक्लोपीडिया ब्रिटैनिका का पहला संस्करण प्रकाशित हुआ। दुनिया भर की जानकारियों से भरपूर यह दुनिया की पहली किताब थी।

1774 आॅस्ट्रिया राजकीय शिक्षा व्यवस्था लागू करने वाला पहला देश बना।

1848 फ्रांज श्लिक के नेतृत्व में ऑस्ट्रियाई शाही सेना ने हंगरी पर हमला किया।

1877 पहली बार मनुष्य की आवाज रिकॉर्ड हुई, थॉमस अल्वा एडिसन ने सबसे पहले कहा री हेड अ लिटिल लेम्ब।

1896 मध्य प्रदेश के प्रमुख सामाजिक और राजनीतिक कार्यकर्ता बृजलाल वियाणी का जन्म हुआ।

1998 परमवीर चक्र सम्मानित भारतीय सैनिक मेजर होशियार सिंह का निधन हुआ।

1907 भारत के स्वतंत्रता संग्राम से संबंधित डकैती की पहली घटना चिंगरीपोटा रेलवे स्टेशन पर हुई।

1911 वेस्टर्न यूनियन ने न्यूयॉर्क और लंदन के बीच अपनी ट्रांस-अटलांटिक केबल सेवा के लिए डिस्काउंट दरों की शुरुआत की।

1917 फिनलैंड ने रुस से स्वतंत्रता की घोषणा की।

1921 ब्रिटिश सरकार और आयरिश नेताओं के बीच हुई एक संधि के बाद आयरलैंड को एक स्वतंत्र राष्ट्र और ब्रिटिश राष्ट्रमंडल का स्वतंत्र सदस्य घोषित किया गया।

1926 प्रख्यात हिंदी, उर्दू कवि, कथाकार रघुपति सहाय फिराक गोरखपुरी अपने साहित्यिक जीवन के आरंभिक समय में ब्रिटिश सरकार के राजनीतिक बंदी बनाए गए।

1936 सावित्री गणेशन का जन्म हुआ। वे दक्षिण की लोकप्रिय अभिनेत्री और माॅडल हुईं। उन्होंने तमिल, तेलुगू, मलयालम, कन्नड़, हिंदी सहित कई भाषाओं की फिल्मों में काम किया।

1945 जाने-माने फिल्मकार, अभिनेता, फिल्म पटकथा लेखक, निर्देशक, माॅडल और ब्लाॅगर हुए शेखर कपूर का जन्म हुआ। उन्होंने दश्यु सुंदरी फूलन देवी पर बहुचर्चित फिल्म बैंडिट क्वीन बनाई।

1950 भारतीय विदेश सेवा की प्रसिद्ध अधिकारी निरुपमा राव का जन्म मल्लपुरम में हुआ।

1956 बाबा साहेब डॉ. भीमराव अंबेडकर का निधन हुआ। उन्होंने अपने आखिरी दिनों में बौद्ध धर्म अपना लिया। इसलिए उनके निधन को परिनिर्वाण कहा जाता है। डाॅ. अंबेडकर का जन्म 14 अप्रैल 1891 को मध्य प्रदेश के महू में हुआ था। अंबेडकर 14 भाई-बहनों में सबसे छोटे थे। गरीब परिवार में जन्मे अंबेडकर ने छुआछूत का जमकर विरोध किया। इसी ने उन्हें दलितों का नेता भी बना दिया। उन्हें बॉम्बे (अब मुंबई) यूनिवर्सिटी से ग्रेजुएशन किया। बाद में उन्होंने अमेरिका की कोलंबिया यूनिवर्सिटी और लंदन यूनिवर्सिटी से मास्टर्स डिग्री हासिल की। उन्होंने कोलंबिया यूनिवर्सिटी से पीएचडी भी की। आजादी के बाद उन्हें कानून मंत्री बनाया गया। साथ ही संविधान ड्राफ्टिंग कमेटी का चेयरमैन भी नियुक्त किया गया। डॉ. अंबेडकर को डायबिटीज थी। 6 दिसंबर 1956 को नींद में ही उनका निधन हो गया। उनके अंतिम संस्कार में देश-विदेश के लाखों लोग शामिल हुए।

1958 इटली में विश्व की सबसे लम्बी और अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण सुरंग बनाने का काम आरंभ हुआ। इसकी खुदाई का काम 6 वर्ष के कठिन परिश्रम के बाद 14 अगस्त सन 1964 को पूरा हुआ।

1978 स्पेन में 40 साल के तानाशाही शासन के बाद देश के नागरिकों ने लोकतंत्र की स्थापना के लिए मतदान किया। यह जनमत संग्रह संविधान की स्वीकृति के लिए कराया गया।

1983 इजरायल के यरुशलम में बस को बम के धमाके से उड़ा दिया गया जिसमें छह नागरिकों की मौत हुई।

1988 जाने-माने क्रिकेटर रविंद्र जडेजा का जन्म हुआ।

1990 युद्ध टालने के प्रयासों के तहत इराक के राष्ट्रपति सद्दाम हुसैन ने इराक और कुवैत में बंधक बनाये गये सभी विदेशी बंधकों की रिहाई का आदेश दिया।

1991 जाने-माने क्रिकेटर करुण नायर का जोधपुर में जन्म हुआ।

1992 बंगलौर में जन्मी मृदुला भास्कर यानी नवीना फिल्म अभिनेत्री हैं। इन्होंने राम गोपाल वर्मा की आइस्क्रीम 2 सहित अनेक फिल्मों में अभिनय किया।

1992 भारत के अयोध्या (उत्तर प्रदेश) में स्थित बाबरी मस्जिद को गिरा दिया गया। इसके साथ ही भारत के अनेक हिस्सों में दंगे भड़क उठे। अयोध्या की बाबरी मस्जिद को लेकर सैकड़ों साल से विवाद चला आ रहा था। भाजपा नेता लालकृष्ण आडवाणी ने राम मंदिर निर्माण के लिए 1990 में आंदोलन शुरू किया था। 5 दिसंबर 1992 की सुबह से ही अयोध्या में विवादित ढांचे के पास कारसेवक पहुंचने शुरू हो गए थे। उस समय सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने विवादित ढांचे के सामने सिर्फ भजन-कीर्तन करने की इजाजत दी थी। लेकिन अगली सुबह यानी 6 दिसंबर को संघ, भाजपा नेताओं के उकसाने पर भीड़ उग्र हो गई और बाबरी मस्जिद का विवादित ढांचा गिरा दिया। कहते हैं कि उस समय 1.5 लाख से ज्यादा कारसेवक वहां मौजूद थे। इसके बाद देशभर में सांप्रदायिक दंगे भड़क उठे। इन दंगों में 2 हजार से ज्यादा लोग मारे गए थे। मामले में मुकदमे दर्ज हुए और 49 लोग आरोपी बनाए गए। आरोपियों में लालकृष्ण आडवाणी, उमा भारती, मुरली मनोहर जोशी, कल्याण सिंह, चंपत राय, कमलेश त्रिपाठी जैसे भाजपा और विहिप के नेता शामिल थे। मामला 28 साल तक कोर्ट में चलता रहा और 30 सितंबर 2021 को लखनऊ की सीबीआई कोर्ट ने सभी आरोपियों को सबूतों के अभाव के बहाने बरी कर दिया। फैसले के वक्त तक 49 में से 32 आरोपी ही बचे थे, बाकी 17 आरोपियों का निधन हो चुका था। विधिक मामलों के जानकार कहते हैं कि इस मामले में अदालतों ने वास्तव में न्याय किया ही नहीं, सरकार की मर्जी के हिसाब से एकतरफा फैसला सुना दिया।

1993 जाने माने क्रिकेटर जसप्रीत बुमराह का अहमदाबाद में जन्म हुआ।

1997 क्योटो (जापान) में अंतर्राष्ट्रीय जलवायु सम्मेलन प्रारम्भ हुआ।

1998 विख्यात, प्रतिष्ठित वामपंथी नेता ह्यूगो शावेज वेनेजुएला के राष्ट्रपति चुने गये। इसी दिन बैंकॉक में 13वें एशियाई खेलों की शुरुआत, इटली को हराकर स्वीडन लगातार दूसरी बार डेविस कप विजेता बना।

1999 में इंडोनेशियाई जेल से 283 कैदी फरार हुए।

2001 अफगानिस्तान में तालिबान हथियार डालने पर सहमत।

2002 स्पेन के कार्लोस मोया को एटीपी यूरोपियन प्लेयर आफ द इयर खिताब दिया गया।

2006 अमेरिकी अंतरिक्ष एजेंसी नासा ने मार्स ग्लोबल सर्वियर द्वारा खिंचे चित्रों को सार्वजनिक किया।

2007 ऑस्ट्रेलिया के स्कूलों में अब सिक्ख छात्रों को कृपाण साथ ले जाने और मुस्लिम छात्राओं को कक्षाओं में हिजाब पहनकर जाने की इजाजत मिली।

2008 भारत की केन्द्रीय बैंक यानी रिजर्व बैंक आॅफ इंडिया ने रेपो रेट और रिवर्स रेट में एक प्रतिशत की कटौती की। 2008 में इसी दिन भारत व चीन की सेनाओं के बीच संयुक्त युद्धाभ्यास एक्सरसाइज हैंड इन हैंड कर्नाटक के बेलगाँव में प्रारम्भ हुआ।

2009 प्रसिद्ध बाॅलीवुड हिंदी फिल्म अभिनेत्री बीना राय का निधन हुआ।

2012 मिस्र में प्रदर्शन के दौरान सात लोग मारे गये और 770 घायल हुए।

2015 भारतीय प्रशासनिक सेवा (आईएएस) के बहुचर्चित अधिकारी डॉ. ब्रह्मदेव शर्मा का निधन हुआ। 2015 में इसी दिन प्रसिद्ध भारतीय चरित्र अभिनेता राम मोहन का निधन हुआ।

1896 Brijlal Viyani, prominent social and political activist of Madhya Pradesh, was born.

1998 Indian soldier Major Hoshiar Singh, awarded Param Vir Chakra, passed away.

1907 The first incident of dacoity related to India's freedom struggle took place at Chingripota railway station.

1911 Western Union introduces discount rates for its trans-Atlantic cable service between New York and London.

1917 Finland declares independence from Russia.

1921 Following a treaty between the British government and Irish leaders, Ireland is declared an independent nation and an independent member of the British Commonwealth.

1926 Eminent Hindi, Urdu poet, short story writer Raghupati Sahay Firak Gorakhpuri was made a political prisoner of the British government early in his literary career.

1936 Savitri Ganesan was born. She became a popular actress and model in the South. He worked in films in many languages including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, Hindi.

1945 Shekhar Kapur, noted filmmaker, actor, screenwriter, director, model, and blogger, was born. He made the famous film Bandit Queen on Dashyu Sundari Phoolan Devi.

1950 Nirupama Rao, noted Indian Foreign Service officer, was born in Malappuram.

1956 Babasaheb Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar passed away. He converted to Buddhism in his last days. That's why his demise is called Parinirvana. Dr. Ambedkar was born on 14 April 1891 in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh. Ambedkar was the youngest of 14 siblings. Born in a poor family, Ambedkar fiercely opposed untouchability. This also made him the leader of Dalits. He graduated from Bombay (now Mumbai) University. He later earned master's degrees from Columbia University in the US and the University of London. He also did his PhD from Columbia University. After independence, he was made the Law Minister. Along with this, the chairman of the constitution drafting committee was also appointed. Dr. Ambedkar had diabetes. He died in his sleep on 6 December 1956. Lakhs of people from India and abroad attended his funeral.

1958 The work of making the world's longest and most important tunnel started in Italy. Its excavation work was completed on August 14, 1964, after 6 years of hard work.

1978 After 40 years of dictatorial rule in Spain, the citizens of the country voted to establish a democracy. This plebiscite was conducted for the approval of the constitution.

1983: A bus is blown up in a bomb blast in Jerusalem, Israel, killing six civilians.

1988: Ravindra Jadeja, noted cricketer, was born.

1990 Iraqi President Saddam Hussein orders the release of all foreign hostages held in Iraq and Kuwait in an effort to avoid war.

1991 Karun Nair, noted cricketer, was born in Jodhpur.

Born in 1992 in Bangalore, Mridula Bhaskar aka Navina is a film actress. He acted in several films including Ram Gopal Varma's Ice Cream 2.

1992 Babri Masjid located in Ayodhya (Uttar Pradesh), India was demolished. With this, riots broke out in many parts of India. The dispute regarding the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya was going on for hundreds of years. BJP leader LK Advani started the movement in 1990 for the construction of the Ram temple. From the morning of December 5, 1992, kar sevaks started arriving near the disputed structure in Ayodhya. At that time, the Supreme Court had allowed only bhajan-kirtan in front of the disputed structure. But the next morning i.e. on December 6, on the instigation of Sangh and BJP leaders, the crowd went berserk and demolished the disputed structure of Babri Masjid. It is said that at that time more than 1.5 lakh kar sevaks were present there. After this communal riots broke out across the country. More than 2 thousand people were killed in these riots. Cases were registered in the matter and 49 people were made accused. The accused included BJP and VHP leaders like LK Advani, Uma Bharti, Murli Manohar Joshi, Kalyan Singh, Champat Rai, Kamlesh Tripathi. The case continued in the court for 28 years and on 30 September 2021, the CBI court of Lucknow acquitted all the accused on the pretext of lack of evidence. By the time of the verdict, only 32 out of 49 accused were left, the remaining 17 accused had passed away. Experts of legal matters say that in this case, the courts have not really done justice, they have given a one-sided decision according to the wishes of the government.

2007 Australian schools now allow Sikh boys to carry sabers and Muslim girls to wear the hijab to class.

2008 India's Central Bank i.e. Reserve Bank of India cut the repo rate and reverse rate by one percent. On this day in 2008, a joint exercise between the armies of India and China, Exercise Hand in Hand, started in Belgaum, Karnataka.

2009- Famous Bollywood Hindi film actress Bina Rai passed away.

Seven people were killed and 770 were injured during the 2012 protests in Egypt.

2015 Renowned Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer Dr. Brahmdev Sharma passed away. Famous Indian character actor Ram Mohan passed away on this day in 2015.
