497 रोमन देवता शनि का मंदिर रोमनफोरम में स्थापित किया गया।

546 लगभग एक साल की घेराबंदी में ओस्ट्रोगोथ्स ने टोटिला सैक्रेडरोम का नेतृत्व किया।

942  नॉरमैंडी के विलियम आई लॉन्ग्स्वर्ड की हत्या अर्नल्फ प्रथम काउंट ऑफ फ्लैंडर्स के समर्थकों द्वारा की गई थी, जबकि दोनों अपने मतभेदों को सुलझाने के लिए एक शांति वार्ता में संलग्न थे।

1398 मंगोल सम्राट तैमूरलंग ने दिल्ली पर कब्जा किया।

1556 बादशाह अकबर के दरबार के प्रसिद्ध कवि रहीम यानी अब्दुर्रहीम ख़ान - ए - ख़ाना का जन्म हुआ। कवि रहीम सेनापति, प्रशासक, आश्रयदाता, दानवीर, कूटनीतिज्ञ, बहुभाषाविद, कलाप्रेमी, एवं विख्यात विद्वान हुए।

1645 मुगल शहंशाह अकबर के बेटे सम्राट जहांगीर की पत्नी नूरजहां बेगम का निधन हुआ।

1715 सिखों के प्रमुख सैन्य अधिकारी बंदा बहादुर बैरागी ने गुरुदासपुर में मुगलों के सामने आत्मसमर्पण किया।

1718 रोमन साम्राज्य, ग्रेट ब्रिटेन और डच गणराज्य फ्रांस की औपचारिक रूप से स्पेन के युद्ध की योजना में फ्रांस के साथ शामिल हो गया। 

1777 फ्रांस ने अमेरिकी स्वतंत्रता को मान्यता दी।

1779 मराठों और पुर्तगालियों के बीच लंबे संघर्ष के बाद मराठा सरकार ने मित्रता सुनिश्चित करने के लिए इस प्रदेश के कुछ गांवों को 12,000 रुपये के राजस्व क्षतिपूर्ति के तौर पर पुर्तगालियों को सौंप दिया।

1790 एज्टेक कैलेंडर पत्थर, जो अब मेक्सिकोसंकल्चर का एक आधुनिक प्रतीक है, की खुदाई मैक्सिको सिटी के मुख्य चौक ज्लोको में की गई थी।

1803 ईस्ट इंडिया कंपनी ने उड़ीसा पर कब्जा किया।

1807 फ्रांस के तानाशाह नेपोलियन बोनापार्ट ने मिलान का ऐतिहासिक आदेश जारी किया।

1819 दक्षिण अमेरिका में ग्रैंड कोलंबिया गणराज्य की स्थापना की गई, जिसके पहले अध्यक्ष के रूप में प्रसिद्ध योद्धा सिमोन बोलीवर या साइमन बोलीवार चुने गये।

1891 ड्रेक्सेल विश्वविद्यालय फिलाडेल्फिया में कला, विज्ञान और उद्योग के ड्रेक्सेल संस्थान के रूप में शुरु किया गया।

1869 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय क्रांतिकारी लेखक, इतिहासकार तथा पत्रकार सखाराम गणेश देउसकर का जन्म हुआ।

1902 इटली के प्रसिद्ध अविष्कारक मार्कोनी ने पहला रेडियो स्टेशन बनाया।

1903 राइट बंधुओं यानी आरविल राइट और विल्वर राइट ने द फ्लायर नामक विमान पहली बार उड़ाया था, 12 सेकेंड की इस उड़ान ने दुनिया में क्रांति ला दी थी।

1905 भारत के पहले मुस्लिम मुख्य न्यायाधीश, वे भारत के प्रथम कार्यवाहक राष्ट्रपति भी रहे, मुहम्मद हिदायतुल्लाह का लखनऊ में जन्म हुआ।

1907 उग्येन वांगचुक भूटान के पहले वंशानुगत राजा बने।

1910 जाने माने भारतीय आध्यात्मिक गुरु, लेखक और अनुवादक तथा अमेरिका के कैलीफोर्निया में ब्ल्यू माउंटेन सेंटर आॅफ मेडिटेशन की स्थापना करने वाले एकनाथ ईश्वरन का जन्म केरल में हुआ।

1914 पोलैंड के लिमानोव में आस्ट्रिया की सेना ने रूसी सेना को पराजित किया। इसी दिन 1914 में तुर्की अधिकारियों ने यहूदियों को तेल अवीव से बाहर खदेड़ दिया।

1918 लगभग 1,000 प्रदर्शनकारियों ने गवर्नमेंट हाउस इनडर्विन, ऑस्ट्रेलिया में मार्च किया, जहां उन्होंने प्रशासक जॉनगिलरथ का पुतला जलाया और उनके इस्तीफे की मांग की।

1922 विख्यात अमेरिकी इंजीनियर और शहरी योजनाकार एलन वूरीज का जन्म हुआ।

1925 सोवियत संघ और तुर्की ने एक दूसरे पर हमला न करने के लिए समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर किये।

1927 आस्ट्रेलिया के विख्यात बल्लेबाज सर डॉन ब्रैडमैन ने अपने प्रथम श्रेणी क्रिकेट में अपने पहले ही मैच में शानदार 118 रनों की पारी खेली।

1927 भारत के एक प्रमुख क्रांतिकारी राजेन्द्रनाथ लाहिड़ी को निर्धारित तिथि से 2 दिन पूर्व ब्रिटिश सरकार ने गोंडा जेल में फाँसी पर लटका कर मार दिया।

1928 स्वतंत्रता सेनानी लाला लाजपत राय की हत्या का बदला लेने के लिए भगत सिंह, राजगुरु और सुखदेव ने उन पर लाठी चार्ज करने वाले सांडर्स की हत्या की।

1931 प्रोफेसर प्रशांत चंद्र महालनोबिस के सपनों का कोलकाता में भारतीय सांख्यिकी संस्थान स्थापित हुआ।

1933 विख्यात भारतीय क्रिकेटर लाला अमरनाथ ने अपने पदार्पण टेस्ट मैच में ही 118 रनों की बेहतरीन पारी खेली।

1935 पद्मभूषण, पद्मविभूषण और पद्मश्री सम्मान प्राप्त कर्नाटक शैली के प्रख्यात शास़्त्रीय संगीतज्ञ उमायलपुरम कासीशिवानंत शिवरामन का उमायलपुरम में जन्म हुआ।

1940 महात्मा गांधी ने व्यक्तिगत सत्याग्रह आंदोलन स्थगित किया।

1941 करीब 300 से अधिक हिंदी और मराठी फिल्मों में अभिनय करने वाले, बहुचर्चित फिल्म शोले में कालिया का किरदार निभाने वाले चरित्र अभिनेता विजू खोटे का जन्म बंबई में हुआ। इनका शोले में प्रसिद्ध संवाद है - सरदार मैंने आपका नमक खाया है।

1946 जाने माने भारतीय बाॅलीवुड फिल्म अभिनेता सुरेश ओबराय का जन्म क्वेटा, पाकिस्तान में हुआ।

1949 बर्मा ने साम्यवादी चीन को मान्यता दी।

1951 एक अमेरिकी नागरिक अधिकार समूह नागरिक अधिकार कांग्रेस ने संयुक्त राष्ट्र नरसंहार कंवेंशन के लिए एक दस्तावेज प्रस्तुत किया जिसने अफ्रीकी अमेरिकियों के खिलाफ नरसंहार के साथ संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका सरकार को दोषी ठहराती है।

1955 जाने माने गुजराती फिल्म एवं थिएटर अभिनेता सिद्धार्थ रंडेरिया का जन्म बंबई में हुआ। इसी दिन कर्नाटक के भाजपा नेता, मुख्यमंत्री रहे जगदीश शिवप्पा शेट्टार का जन्म हुआ।

1957 पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री हरदनहल्ली डोड्डेगौड़ा देवगौड़ा के बेटे कर्नाटक के जाने माने राजनेता हरदनहल्ली देवगौड़ा रेवन्न का जन्म हरदनहल्ली में हुआ। इसी दिन जाने माने भारतीय अमेरिकी कारोबारी दिनेश  सी पालीवाल का आगरा में जन्म हुआ। यह कई तरह के उपकरण बनाने वाली कंपनी हरमन इंटरनेशनल के मुखिया हैं।

1958 जाने माने बाॅलीवुड फिल्म अभिनेता नितिन कपूर की पत्नी तमिल, तेलुगू कन्नड़, मलयालम और हिंदी फिल्म अभिनेत्री तथा माॅडल और तमिलनाडु की राजनीतिक पार्टी युवजन श्रमिक रय्यतु कांग्रेस पार्टी की नेता जयासुधा का जन्म मद्रास में हुआ।

1959 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय स्वतंत्रता सेनानी, गाँधीवादी और पत्रकार भोगराजू पट्टाभि सीतारामैया का निधन हुआ।

1960 दूषित ईंधन के कारण डाउनटाउन म्यूनिख में उड़ने के कुछ समय बाद अमेरिकी वायु सेना का एक विमान दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हो गया, जिससे सभी 20 लोगों की मौत हो गई और जमीन पर 32 लोग घायल हो गए।

1961 विख्यात मलयालम फिल्मी गीतकार, कवि और उपन्यासकार रफीक अहमद का जन्म त्रिसूर में हुआ।

1971 भारत और पाकिस्तान के बीच चल रहा युद्ध समाप्त हुआ।

1972 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय बाॅलीवुड फिल्म अभिनेता जॉन अब्राहम का जन्म हुआ।

1973 जाने माने बाॅलीवुड फिल्म निर्देशक, निर्माता एवं पटकथा लेखक नीरज पांडेय का जन्म आरा, बिहार में हुआ।

1975 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड बाॅलीवुड डांस कोरियोग्राफर, अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल वैभवी मर्चेंट का जन्म मद्रास में हुआ।

1978 महाराष्ट्र के प्रमुख राजनेता और मुख्यमंत्री रहे विलास राव देशमुख के बेटे जाने माने बाॅलीवुड फिल्म अभिनेता रितेश देशमुख का जन्म लातूर में हुआ।

1979 जाने माने बाॅलवुड फिल्म अभिनेता एवं माॅडल सचिन श्राफ का जन्म हुआ।

1984 जाने माने तेलुगू फिल्म अभिनेता, पटकथाकार और फिल्म निर्देशक अदीवी शेष का जन्म हैदराबाद में हुआ।

1992 जनरल सुवा को 4.4 मिलियन वर्ष पुराने ऑस्ट्रलोपिथेकस रामिडस के दांत मिले।

1992 जायोनी शासन ने अपने सीमा सुरक्षा बल के एक जवान की हत्या के बहाने फिलिस्तीन के इस्लामी प्रतिरोध आंदोलन हमास के 415 सदस्यों को देश बाहर जाने का आदेश दिया।

1994 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय लेखक, विचारक ललित शुक्ला का निधन हुआ।

1996 अमेरिकी और ब्रिटिश बम वर्षकों ने नेशनल फुटबॉल लीग का शुभारंभ हुआ।

1998 आपरेशन डेजर्ट फाक्स के तहत इराक पर भारी बमबारी की गई और इसी दिन भारत और पाकिस्तान के सेनाध्यक्ष मुख्यालयों में सीधी बातचीत के लिए हॉटलाइन पुनः शुरू हुई और नेशनलिस्ट सर्व डेमोक्रेटिक पार्टी के नेता मिरको 2000 सरोविक ने बोस्निया में राष्ट्रपति पद की शपथ ली।

2002 तुर्की ने कश्मीर मुद्दे पर भारत का समर्थन किया।

2005 भूटान के राजा जिगमे सिंग्ये वांचुक को सत्ता से हटाया गया।

2008 दिल्ली की वरिष्ठ कांग्रेस नेत्री शीला दीक्षित ने दिल्ली की मुख्यमंत्री पद की शपथ ली।

2008 भारत सरकार ने शासन में पदोन्नति के लिए नई पदोन्नति नीति की घोषणा की।

2009 लेबनान के समुद्री तट पर कार्गो जहाज एमवी डैनी एफ टू के डूबने से 40 लोगों तथा 28000 से अधिक पशुओं की मौत हुई

2013 एंजेला मार्केल तीसरी बार जर्मनी की चांसलर निर्वाचित हुईं। 2013 इस्तांबुल सुरक्षा निर्देशिका ने भ्रष्टाचार के आरोप में 47 सत्तारूढ़ न्याय और विकास पार्टी के सदस्यों को हिरासत में लिया।

2014 अमेरिकी अपने 1960 के अंत और क्यूबा के साथ राजनयिक संबंधों को फिर से स्थापित। यह समझौता सहायताकर्ता एलन ग्रॉस और एक अनाम अमेरिकी जासूस के लिए क्यूबा के तीन जासूसों के आदान-प्रदान के बाद हुआ।

1959 Bhogaraju Pattabhi Sitaramaiya, noted Indian freedom fighter, Gandhian and journalist, passed away.
