1858 बंकिम चंद्र चट्टोपाध्याय और यदुनाथ बोस कलकत्ता विश्वविद्यालय से कला विषय के पहले स्नातक बने।

1882 महाकवि भारतियार, सुप्रसिद्ध तमिल कवि, लेखक, पत्रकार, सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता और स्वतंत्रता सेनानी सुब्रह्मण्य भारती का इत्तयापुरम में जन्म हुआ।

1913 इटली के विश्व विख्यात चित्रकार लियोनार्दो द विंची की विश्व चर्चित चित्र कृति मोनालिसा की पेंटिंग चोरी हो गई थी 21 अगस्त 1911 को। 11 दिसंबर 1913 को पुलिस ने पेंटिंग बरामद कर ली। म्यूजियम में काम करने वाले विंसेंजो पेंटिंग के लिए कांच की फ्रेम बना रहा था। मौका पाकर उसने पेंटिंग चुरा ली। विंसेंजो को एक साल 15 दिन की सजा सुनाई गई, लेकिन 7 महीने बाद ही उसे रिहा कर दिया गया।

1936 बर्लिन में आयोजित होने वाले ओलंपिक खेलों को अमेरिकी यहूदी कांग्रेस के विरोध का सामना करना पड़ा क्योंकि नाजी जर्मनी अन्य एथलीटों की तुलना में यहूदी एथलीटों को समानता प्रदान नहीं कर रहा था।

1915 बाला साहब देवरस नाम से प्रसिद्ध मधुकर दत्तात्रेय देवरस राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ के तृतीय सरसंघचालक का जन्म नागपुर में हुआ।

1922 ट्रेजेडी किंग और अभिनय सम्राट कहे गये मशहूर बाॅलीवुड फिल्म अभिनेता मोहम्मद यूसुफ खान यानी दिलीप कुमार का जन्म किस्सा बाजार, पेशावर, पाकिस्तान में हुआ।

1931 आध्यात्मिक आंदोलनकर्ता, तर्कवादी, प्रखर वक्ता, आलोचक चंद्रमोहन जैन का जन्म हुआ जिन्हें पहले आचार्य रजनीश कहा गया। बाद में उनहोंने खुद को ओशो घोषित किया। उनके वक्तव्यों से राजनेता, धर्म के ठेकेदार और अन्य तमाम लोग असहज हो जाते थे।

1935 प्रमुख कांग्रेस नेता हुए प्रणव मुखर्जी का जन्म हुआ। वे विदेशमंत्री, वित्त मंत्री और राष्ट्रपति हुए।

1937 यूरोपीय देश इटली ने मित्र राष्ट्र संघ का परित्याग किया।

1938 उत्तर प्रदेश के प्रसिद्ध कानून विशेषज्ञ और सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता जगत नारायण मुल्ला का निधन हुआ। जज रहते हुए उन्होंने ही कहा था, पुलिस संगठित गुंडों का गिरोह है।

1941 जर्मनी और इटली ने अमेरिका के खिलाफ युद्ध की घोषणा की। पहले इटली के शासक बेनिटो मुसोलिनी और फिर जर्मनी के तानाशाह एडोल्फ हिटलर ने ये घोषणा की।

1946 डॉ. राजेन्द्र प्रसाद भारत की संविधान सभा के अध्यक्ष निर्वाचित हुए।

1946 यूरोपीय देश स्पेन को संयुक्त राष्ट्र से निलंबित किया गया।

1949 प्रसिद्ध दार्शनिक कृष्णचन्द्र भट्टाचार्य का निधन हुआ।

1952 टीवीएस मोटर वाहन कंपनी, सुंदरम कलेयटन आटो कंपोनेंट कंपनी के मालिक भारत के प्रमुख अमीर उद्योगपति और कारोबारी वेणु श्रीनिवासन का जन्म मद्रास में हुआ।

1960 बाल विकास विषयक संयुक्त राष्ट्र की अंतरराष्ट्रीय संस्था यूनिसेफ के सम्मान में 15 नये पैसे का विशेष डाक टिकट जारी किया गया।

1964 संयुक्त राष्ट्र के यूनिसेफ की स्थापना हुई। यह संगठन 150 से अधिक देशों में सक्रिय है। इसका मुख्यालय अमेरिका के न्यूयार्क में है।

1965 बीती सदी के 1980 और 1990 के दशक की लोकप्रिय, खूबसूरत, बोल्ड बाॅलीवुड फिल्म अभिनेत्री तथा माॅडल किमी काटकर का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1967 प्रसिद्ध भारतीय महिला क्रिकेट खिलाड़ी लिसी सैम्युल का जन्म हुआ।

1969 प्रसिद्ध भारतय महिला धाविका ज्योतिर्मयी सिकदर का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन 1969 में प्रसिद्ध भारतीय शतरंज खिलाड़ी विश्वनाथन आनंद का जन्म हुआ।

1970 पौराणिक विषयों के प्रमुख लेखक, प्रबोधक और प्रबंधनकर्ता देवदत्त पट्टनायक का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1978 खूबसूरत, बोल्ड बहुप्रतिवान फेमिना मिस इंडिया 1998, द्वितीय रनरअप मिस इंटरनेशनल 1998, ब्यूटी पीजेंट, भरतनाट्यम नर्तकी, माॅडल, अभिनेत्री, लेखिका, कारोबारी और शतरंज खिलाड़ी महेश भूपति की पत्नी श्वेता जयशंकर का जन्म चेन्नई में हुआ।

1980 गुजरात के चर्चित दलित, कांग्रेस नेता, वडगाम से विधायक, पूर्व पत्रकार, अधिवक्ता जिग्नेश मेवानी का अहमदाबाद में जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन तमिल सिनेमा के जाने माने फिल्म अभिनेता तथा निर्माता आर्या का जन्म हुआ।

1981 जाने माने टेलीविजन अभिनेता और माॅडल गौरव खन्ना का जन्म कानपुर में हुआ।

1983 जनरल हुसैन मोहम्मद इरशाद ने खुद को बांग्लादेश का राष्ट्रपति घोषित किया।

1985 खूबसूरत, बोल्ड, लोकप्रिय पाकिस्तानी फिल्म एवं टेलीविजन हिंदी, उर्दू अभिनेत्री तथा माॅडल सारा लाॅरेन, सारा हुसैन मूल नाम मोना लीजा हुसैन का जन्म कुवैत में हुआ।

1993 जानी मानी, खूबसूरत, बोल्ड दक्षिण भारतीय फिल्मों की वाॅयस ओवर आर्टिस्ट, माॅडल और अभिनेत्री रवीना रवि का जन्म चेन्नई में हुआ।

1994 रूस के तत्कालीन राष्ट्रपति बोरिस येल्तसिन ने चेचेन्या विद्रोहियों पर हमला किया तथा उनके इलाके में सेना भेज दी।

1998 प्रसिद्ध कवि एवं गीतकार प्रदीप का निधन हुआ।

1985 प्रसिद्ध पाकिस्तानी फिल्म अभिनेत्री और माॅडल सारा लाॅरेन का जन्म कुवैत में हुआ।

1995 तेलुगू, कन्नड़ आदि दक्षिण भारतीय फिल्मों की बोल्ड, खूबसूरत, लोकप्रिय अभिनेत्री तथा माॅडल नाभा नतेश का श्रिंगेरी में जन्म हुआ।

1998 तेइसवें काहिरा अंतर्राष्ट्रीय फिल्म समारोह में तमिल फिल्म टेररिस्ट में सर्वश्रेष्ठ भूमिका के लिए आयशा धारकर को ज्यूरी का सर्वश्रेष्ठ पुरस्कार प्रदान किया गया। काहिरा मिस्र की राजधानी है।

2001 चीन को विश्व व्यापार संगठन में प्रवेश मिला।

2002 ग्यारह दिसंबर को इंटरनेशनल माउंटेन डे घोषित किया। इस दिन संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा ने रिजोल्यूशन 57/245 अपनाया। 2002 में इसी दिन स्पेन के नौसैनिकों ने अरब सागर में उत्तर कोरिया के एक जहाज को पकड़ा, इसमें स्कड मिसाइलें लदी थीं।

2003 मेरिदा में पहले भ्रष्टाचार निरोधक समझौते पर 73 देशों ने हस्ताक्षर किये।

2004 कर्नाटक संगीत की प्रसिद्ध गायिका एवं अभिनेत्री एमएस सुब्बुलक्ष्मी का निधन हुआ।

2007 उत्तर व दक्षिण कोरिया के बीच 50 वर्ष बाद रेल सेवा फिर से प्रारम्भ हुई।

2010 बोलीविया सरकार ने सेवानिवृत्ति की आयु 65 से घटाकर 58 कर दी जबकि तमाम देशों में सेवानिवृत्ति की आयु बढ़ा दी गई है। भारत में ही पहले सरकारी कर्मचारी 50 साल की आयु में रिटायर होते थे बाद में धीरे-धीरे इसे बढ़ा कर 60 और कुछ मामलों में 65 तक कर दी गई है।

2012 भारत रत्न से सम्मानित प्रसिद्ध सितार वादक पंडित रविशंकर का निधन हुआ।

2014 अंतरराष्ट्रीय योग दिवस की स्वीकृति 11 दिसंबर को संयुक्त राष्ट्र ने दी।

2019 राज्यसभा में विधेयक नागरिकता संशोधन विधेयक 2019 के पक्ष में 125 और खिलाफ में 99 वोट पड़े थे। यह बिल था नागरिकता संशोधन विधेयक 2019 यानी सिटिजन अमेंडमेंट एक्ट सीएए। अगले ही दिन 12 दिसंबर 2019 को इसे राष्ट्रपति की मंजूरी मिल गई। इसका देशभर में भारी विरोध हुआ और लगातार हो रहा है।

1845 First Anglo-Sikh war begins.

1858 Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay and Yadunath Bose became the first graduates of arts subjects from Calcutta University.

1882 Mahakavi Bharathiyar, noted Tamil poet, writer, journalist, social activist and freedom fighter Subrahmanya Bharathi, was born at Ittayapuram.

1913 On August 21, 1911, the world-renowned painter Leonardo da Vinci's painting of Mona Lisa was stolen from Italy. On 11 December 1913 the police recovered the painting. Vincenzo, who works in the museum, was making a glass frame for the painting. Taking the opportunity, he stole the painting. Vincenzo was sentenced to one year and 15 days, but was released after 7 months.

In the 2019 Rajya Sabha, 125 votes were cast in favor of the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2019 and 99 against it. This bill was the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2019 i.e. Citizen Amendment Act CAA. The very next day, on 12 December 2019, it got the assent of the President. There was a huge protest across the country and it is happening continuously.
