1516 फ्रांस और स्विट्जरलैंड के मध्य फ्रेईबर्ग के शांति समझौते पर हस्ताक्षर हुए।

1549 पोप पॉल तृतीय की मृत्यु के बाद, हिसल उत्तराधिकारी को निर्धारित करने के लिए एक अभूतपूर्व संख्या में कार्डिनल इलेक्टर के साथ एक पोप कॉन्क्लेव आयोजित किया गया।

1745 बोनी प्रिंस चार्ली की सेना मैनचेस्टर में पहुंची और कार्लिस्ले पर कब्जा किया।

1759 दिल्ली में बादशाह आलमगीर द्वितीय की हत्या हुई। आलमगीर 16वाँ मुगल बादशाह था, जिसने 1754 से 1759 तक शासन किया।

1870 ब्रिटिश सरकार ने देश में अनिवार्य शिक्षा कानून लागू किया।

1782 ब्रिटिश सरकार ने अमरीका की स्वतंत्रता को मान्यता दी।

1889 कर्नाटक के बंगलौर स्थित लालबाग में ग्लास हाउस की आधारशिला रखी गई।

1899 स्पेनिश फुटबाल क्लब एफसी बार्सिलोना का गठन हुआ।

1901 अपनी कल्पना और चित्रकला प्रतिभा से सिख गुरुओं, सिख नायकों, सिख इतिहास की कुछ घटनाओं के चित्र बनाने वाले शोभा सिंह का जन्म भारतीय ब्रिटिश सेना में घुड़सवार सैनिक  देबा सिंह के घर पंजाब के हरगोविंदपुर में हुआ।

1909 प्रसिद्ध बंगला इतिहासकार रोमेश चन्द्र दत्त का निधन हुआ।

1913 ज्ञानपीठ पुरस्कार से सम्मानित प्रसिद्ध भारतीय शायर अली सरदार जाफरी का बलरामपुर में जन्म हुआ।

1916 अमेरिका ने डोमिनिकन रिपब्लिक यानी डोमिनिका में मार्शल लॉ लगाने की घोषणा की।

1830 पोलैंड में रूस के शासन के खिलाफ नवंबर विद्रोह शुरु हुआ।

1935 परमवीर चक्र से सम्मानित गुरबचन सिंह सालारिया का जन्म हुआ।

1936 बीसवीं सदी के बांग्ला सिनेमा और टेलीविजन के प्रमुख चरित्र अभिनेता तथा फिजीशियन शुभेंदु चटर्जी का जन्म कलकत्ता में हुआ।

1944 अलबानिया को हिटलर नाजी कब्जे से छुड़ाया गया।

1947 संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा ने फिलिस्तीन को अरब और यहूदियों के बीच बांटने के प्रस्ताव को मंजूरी दी।

1947 निजाम हैदराबाद ने भारतीय उपमहाद्वीप का विभाजन होने पर भारत या पाकिस्तान में शामिल अपने राज्य का विलय करने के बजाय स्वतंत्र देश के रूप में रहने को बोला।

1948 सोवियत संघ ने पूर्वी बर्लिन में पृथक सरकार बनवाई।

1949 पूर्वी जर्मनी में हुए यूरेनियम खदान में विस्फोट से 3700 लोग मरे।

1961 विश्व के पहले अंतरिक्ष यात्री यूरी गागरिन भारत यात्रा पर आये।

1963 सुपरिचित और विवादित खेल प्रशासक, इंडियन प्रीमियर लीग और कई खेल निकायों के अध्यक्ष, गाॅडफ्रे फिलिप्स कार्यकारी निदेशक, कारोबारी फर्म मोदी इंटरप्राइजेज के अध्यक्ष और एमडी रहे ललित मोदी का जन्म दिल्ली में हुआ। इसी दिन कनाडा का एक जेट विमान उड़ान भरने के कुछ मिनटों बाद ही दुर्घटनाग्रस्त हो गया था. इस भयावह दुर्घटना में विमान में मौजूद सभी 118 लोग मारे गए थे.

1968 महाराष्ट्र के प्रमुख मुस्लिम राजनेता, अधिवक्ता और आॅल इंडिया मज्लिस ए इत्तहादुल मुसलमीन पार्टी के राष्ट्रीय प्रवक्ता विधान सभा सदस्य वारिस पठान का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1970 हरियाणा 100 प्रतिशत ग्रामीण विद्युतीकरण का लक्ष्य पाने वाला पहला भारतीय राज्य बना।

1971 जाने माने भाजपा नेता, त्रिपुरा के मुख्यमंत्री रहे और राज्य सभा सदस्य बिप्लव कुमार देब का जन्म उदयपुर में हुआ।

1978 जाने माने भारतीय संगीतकार, गायक, संगीत रिकाॅर्ड उत्पादक और फिल्म अभिनेता शेखर रवजियानी का जन्म कच्छ, गुजरात में हुआ।

1982 दक्षिण की जानी-मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड फिल्म अभिनेत्री, माॅडल और मांड्या कर्नाटक से भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस की लोकसभा सांसद रही रम्या यानी दिव्या स्पंदना का जन्म बंगलौर में हुआ।

1984 हिंदी, मराठी सहित विभिन्न दक्षिण भारतीय भाषाओं की खूबसूरत, बोल्ड जानी-मानी फिल्म अभिनेत्री, माॅडल और टीवी कलाकार नेहा पेंडसे का बंबई में जन्म हुआ।

1986 जानी-मानी माॅडल, अभिनेत्री, टेलीविजन हश्ती और बिग बाॅस प्रतिभागी अर्शी खान का जन्म हुआ।

1987 वीजे बानी के नाम से सुपरिचित खूबसूरत, बोल्ड फिटनेस माॅडल, अभिनेत्री एवं एमटीवी प्रजेंटर गुरबानी जज का चंडीगढ़ में जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन कोरियाई विमान में थाईलैंड-म्यांमार की सीमा के पास विस्फोट में 115 लोगों की मौत हुई। इसी दिन जानी मानी बाॅलीवुड गायिका प्रजाक्ता शुक्रे का जबलपुर में जन्म हुआ।

1989 कांग्रेस को आम चुनाव में बहुमत न मिलने पर भारतीय प्रधानमंत्री राजीव गाँधी ने इस्तीफा दिया।

1989 जानी मानी खूबसूरत, बोल्ड फिल्म अभिनेत्री, राष्ट्रीय स्तर की धावक, हाॅकी खिलाड़ी, माॅडल चित्रांशी रावत का रायपुर में जन्म हुआ।

1990 अमरीकी राष्ट्रपति जार्ज बुश ने युद्ध टालने के लिए अमरीकी-इराक बैठक का प्रस्ताव रखा।

1993 जेआरडी टाटा का निधन हुआ। आधुनिक भारत की बुनियाद रखने वाली औद्योगिक हस्तियों में जेआरडी का नाम सर्वोपरि है। जहांगीर रतनजी दादाभॉय टाटा का जन्म 29 जुलाई 1904 को हुआ था। वह उद्योगपति रतनजी दादाभॉय टाटा के पुत्र थे, उनकी मां सुजैन ब्रिएरे देश में कार चलाने वाली पहली भारतीय महिला थीं। जहांगीर को देश की पहली एयरलाइन की स्थापना का श्रेय जाता है, वह न केवल शीर्ष उद्योगपति थे, बल्कि भारत की सबसे मूल्यवान कंपनी टाटा के चेयरमैन भी थे। 1932 में उन्होंने ही टाटा एयरलाइंस की स्थापना की थी, जो आगे चलकर सरकारी विमानन कंपनी एयर इंडिया बनी। मोदी सरकार ने फिर से इस सरकारी विमानन कंपनी को टाटा समूह को बेच दिया है।

1998 कर्नल कुरु बातासयाल के नेतृत्व में भारतीय सैन्य दस्ते ने लेबनान में संयुक्त राष्ट्र अंतरिम सेना यूनीफिष में नार्वे के दस्ते का स्थान ग्रहण किया।

1999 महाराष्ट्र के नारायण गाँव में विश्व का सबसे बड़ा मीटरवेव रेडियो टेलीस्कोप खुला।

2002 कवि एवं समाचार प्रसारक ओंकारनाथ श्रीवास्तव का निधन हुआ। उन्होंने ब्रिटिश बाॅडकास्टिंग कारपोरेशन यानी बीबीसी हिंदी सेवा में लंबे समय काम किया।

2004 आसियान देशों ने चीन के साथ व्यापार समझौते को अंतिम रूप दिया।

2006 पाकिस्तान ने मध्यम दूरी वाले मिसाइल हत्फ-4, जिसे शाहीन-1 भी कहा जाता है, का सफल परीक्षण किया।

2007 जनरल अशरफ परवेज कियानी ने पाकिस्तानी सेना के प्रमुख कमान सम्भाली। परवेज मुशर्रफ ने असैनिक राष्ट्रपति के रूप में अगले पाँच वर्ष के लिए शपथ ग्रहण की।

2008 भारतीय राष्ट्रीय कांग्रेस के राजनीतिज्ञ तथा गुजरात के नौंवे मुख्यमंत्री हुए छबीलदास मेहता का निधन हुआ। इसी दिन मुक्केबाज मैरीकॉम ने पाँचवी महिला एआईबीए वर्ल्ड बॉक्सिंग चैम्पियनशिप जीती।

2011 सुप्रसिद्ध असमिया लेखिका ज्ञानपीठ पुरस्कार विजेता इंदिरा गोस्वामी का निधन हुआ।

2012 संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा ने फिलीस्तीन को गैर-सदस्य पर्यवेक्षक राज्य का दर्जा दिया।

2015 विख्यात अमेरिकी समाजशास्त्री और शिक्षाविद ओटो न्यूमैन का निधन हुआ।

On the same day, a Canadian jet plane crashed minutes after take off. All 118 people present in the plane were killed in this horrific accident.
