1719 स्टॉकहोम ने स्वीडन और हनोवर से शांति समझौता किया।

1750 मैसूर के शासक टीपू सुल्तान का जन्म कर्नाटक के देवनहल्ली में हुआ था। टीपू का पूरा नाम सुल्तान फतेह अली खान शहाब था। टीपू के पिता हैदर अली मैसूर साम्राज्य के सैनिक थे और 1761 में मैसूर के शासक बने। टीपू की वीरता देखकर उन्हें उनके पिता ने शेर-ए-मैसूर खिताब से नवाजा था।

1739 जेनकिन्स की इयर-ए-ब्रिटिश नौसैनिक बल ने स्पेनिश मेन (आधुनिक पनामा) में पोर्टोबेलो की बस्ती पर कब्जा कर लिया।

1910 विश्व प्रसिद्ध रूसी लेखक लियो टॉलस्टॉय Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy greatest Russian writer की मृत्यु हुई। वॉर एंड पीस उनकी सबसे चर्चित किताब है। लियो टॉलस्टॉय के विचार - 1. हम केवल यह जान सकते हैं कि हम कुछ नहीं जानते हैं। और यही मानव ज्ञान की उच्चतम डिग्री है। 2. देशभक्ति की भावना एक अप्राकृतिक, तर्कहीन, और हानिकारक भावना है, और जिन बुराइयों से मानवता पीड़ित है उसके एक बड़े हिस्से का कारण है। 3. गलती को कभी गलती से ठीक नहीं किया जा सकता, और बुराई का अंत बुराई से नहीं हो सकता है।

1917 समाजवादी क्रांति होने के बाद यूक्रेन गणराज्य घोषित हुआ। 1917 में इसी दिन कलकत्ता में बोस अनुसंधान संस्थान की स्थापना की गई।

1922 विख्यात भारतीय इतिहासकार, चिंतक और लेखक सतीश चंद्र का जन्म मेरठ में हुआ।

1923 अमेरिकी पेटेंट ऑफिस ने 46 साल के गैरेट मॉर्गन को ऑटोमेटेड ट्रैफिक सिग्नल के लिए पेटेंट नंबर दिया था। उन्होंने स्टाॅप और गो के बीच एक तीसरा विकल्प जोड़ा था जो ड्राइवर को गाड़ी बंद और शुरू करने से पहले सतर्क कर सके। यही विकल्प आगे जाकर येलो लाइट में बदला।

1929 गोविंदपुरा (अब पाकिस्तान में है) के एक सिख परिवार में मिल्खा सिंह का जन्म हुआ था। वे कुछ समय भारतीय सेनामें रहे। खेल की तरफ झुकाव होने की वजह से उन्होंने क्रॉस कंट्री दौड़ में हिस्सा लिया। इसमें 400 से ज्यादा सैनिकों ने दौड़ लगाई। मिल्खा 6वें नंबर पर आए। 1956 में आॅस्ट्रेलिया के मेलबर्न में आयोजित ओलिंपिक में भाग लिया। 1958 में कटक में आयोजित नेशनल गेम्स में 200 और 400 मीटर में कई रिकॉर्ड बनाए। 1958 में टोक्यो में आयोजित एशियाई खेलों में 200 मीटर, 400 मीटर की स्पर्धा और राष्ट्रमंडल में 400 मीटर की रेस में स्वर्ण पदक जीते। उनकी सफलता को देखते हुए, भारत सरकार ने पद्मश्री से सम्मानित किया। मिल्खा सिंह पाकिस्तान में आयोजित एक दौड़ के लिए गए। इसमें उन्होंने शानदार प्रदर्शन किया। उनके प्रदर्शन को देखकर पाकिस्तान के सैनिक तानाशाह जनरल अयूब खान ने उन्हें द फ्लाइंग सिख नाम दिया।

1941 पाकिस्तान की विख्यात नाट्य लेखिका, पटकथा लेखिक हसीना मोइन का जन्म कानपुर में हुआ।

1942 ब्रिटिश सेना ने लीबिया की राजधानी बेनगाजी पर दोबारा कब्जा किया।

1945 जर्मनी में बीस से अधिक हिटलर के नात्सी अफसरों पर युद्ध अपराधों को लेकर मुकदमा शुरु हुआ। 1945 जापान का अमेरिका के समक्ष पूर्ण आत्मसमर्पण एवं द्वितीय विश्व युद्ध की समाप्ति।

1950 हिंदी, मराठी, असमिया और कई अन्य भारतीय भाषाओं की चरित्र अभिनेत्री सुहासिनी मुले का जन्म पटना में हुआ।

1955 पॉली उमरीगर ने न्यूजीलैंड के खिलाफ टेस्ट मैच में भारत की ओर से पहला दोहरा शतक लगाया।

1956 केरल की जानी मानी वामपंथी राजनेत्री, केरल सरकार में मंत्री रह चुकीं और वर्तमान में केरल विधान सभा सदस्य केके शैलजा का जन्म कन्नूर में हुआ।

1959 संयुक्त राष्ट्र महासभा ने बच्चों के अधिकारों के घोषणापत्र को मान्यता दी थी। इस वजह से विश्वभर में हर साल विश्व बाल दिवस मनाया जाता है।

1960 स्वीडन में योरोपीय देशों के 7वें कन्वेन्शन में स्वतंत्र योरोपीय व्यापार संगठन एफटा के गठन के प्रस्ताव पर सहमति हुई।

1962 नोबल पुरस्कार से सम्मानित डेनमार्क के प्रसिद्ध वैज्ञानिक नील बोहर का 82 वर्ष की आयु में निधन हुआ।

1969 जानी-मानी फिल्म अभिनेत्री शिल्पा शिरोडकर का जन्म हुआ। इसी दिन विख्यात भारतीय पत्रकार, अधिवक्ता एवं राजनेत्री वायलेट अल्वा का निधन हुआ।

1975 39 वर्षों तक स्पेन पर शासन करने वाले तानाशाह जनरल फ्रैंसिस्को फ्रैंको का निधन हुआ।

1976 विख्यात बाॅलीवुड अभिनेता जीतेंद्र के बेटे और फिल्म तथा टेलीविजन धारावाहिक निर्मात्री एकता कपूर के भाई बाॅलीवुड फिल्म अभिनेता तथा माॅडल तुषार कपूर का जन्म बंबई में हुआ।

1976 जर्मनी में भारतीय महिला कारोबारी, मशहूर जर्मन फैशन ब्रांड एस्काडा की अध्यक्ष एवं प्रबंध निदेशक रहीं मेघा मित्तल का जन्म भारत में हुआ।

1981 अफ्रीकी देश बुरुंडी में संविधान अंगीकार किया गया।

1989 विख्यात भारतीय महिला फ्रीस्टाइल पहलवान बबीता कुमारी फोगाट का जन्म हरियाणा के भिवानी में हुआ।

1991 जानी मानी, खूबसूरत, बोल्ड टेलीविजन अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल अपर्णा दीक्षित का जन्म आगरा में हुआ। इसी दिन जानी मानी, खूबसूरत, बोल्ड तमिल फिल्म अभिनेत्री एवं माॅडल साई धनशिका का जन्म तंजावूर में हुआ। इसी दिन नागोर्नो-करबाख युद्ध में एक अजरबैजानी सैन्य हेलीकॉप्टर के एक शांति रक्षक मिशन टीम को नागोर्नो-करबाख, अजरबैजान में गोली मार दी गई, जिससे चल रही शांति वार्ता बाधित हो गई।

1994 अंगोला सरकार और यूनिटा विद्रोहियों के मध्य 19 वर्ष से जारी संघर्ष की समाप्ति के लिए लुसाका में शांति संधि सम्पन्न।

1995 वेल्स की राजकुमारी डायना ने वेल्स के राजकुमार से अलगाव और अपने विवाहेत्तर संबंधों के बारे में बीबीसी टेलीविजन पर खुल कर बात की। यह जिक्र इंग्लैंड के शाही परिवार की बहू और डायना और राजकुमार चाल्र्स के बारे में है।

2007 पाकिस्तान के चुनाव आयोग ने राष्ट्रीय व प्रान्तीय असेंबलियों के चुनाव का कार्यक्रम घोषित किया। 2007 में इसी दिन पाकिस्तानी सरकार ने 3,400 कैदियों को मुक्त किया है जो आपातकाल के दौरान जेल गए थे।

2008 हिंदू चरमपंथियों द्वारा किये गये मालेगाँव धमाके के मामले में गिरफ्तार सभी 10 आरोपियों पर मकोका लगया गया। इसी दिन राज्यसभा के दो नवनिर्वाचित सदस्यों प्रभाकर कारे तथा बरण मुखर्जी ने सदन की सदस्यता की शपथ ग्रहण की। इसी दिन अदन की खाड़ी में अपने व्यावसायिक जहाजों की रक्षा के लिए भारत ने गाइडेड मिसाइल युक्त एक विध्वंसक जहाज भेजा।

2009 प्रसिद्ध विचारक और कवि श्याम बहादुर वर्मा का निधन हुआ।

2010 वेटिकन ने चर्च में यौन शोषण की समस्या से लड़ने के लिए बिशप के लिए दिशानिर्देश प्रकाशित करने का फैसला किया।

2011 मिस्र की सत्तारूढ़ सैन्य सरकार के खिलाफ काहिरा के तहरीर स्क्वायर में हिंसक प्रदर्शनों के चलते लगभग 13 लोगों की हत्या हो गई और लगभग 900 लोग घायल हो गए।
